Despite defaulting to something serious, kind, and scolding, she's so worldly that she breaks from it very easily, getting flustered, angry, smug, confused, shocked, or whatever. The fact that she hid her true nature, and with a cover story she had incomplete knowledge of, gave plenty of opportunities to showcase that. It helps that she's surprisingly bad at improvising, so she can get dragged around by momentum for a bit. She's very different than the other sages and oni, and I'm grateful to Azuma for being to illustrate that so well.
