This Friday November 7th we'll hold the 9th edition of the official /jp/ Skydrift Cup at 8:30 pm EST.Join in for total chaos, ultra competitive autism, and the ultimate racing fun to be crowned Champion of the jpsies.>FREE cracked copy of the game:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1n8808dy5AKXfzmv5KWmK8jn4nW3J7o0CIn case you missed our last tournament (the 8th edition), check out this thread to see for yourself how it went:https://warosu.org/jp/thread/50121776
Qualis will begin at 8:30 pm EST sharp, so please plan accordingly if you're participating.>Qualis systemSince the lobby can only hold 7 racists, using a randomizer we'll divide every racer into 2 groups (or more, depending on the turnout). Two quali lobbies will be created, in which racers drawn to their respective group must go to.Each group will race 5 ROUNDS consisting of the same 5 tracks, which will be chose by a randomizer and posted here once every group is set. After each race, we'll log the TIMING of each racer and, using AI or your brain if you're big brained, we'll add them up until the 5 races have been finished. The 7 best overall times will qualify for the Tournament.Keep in mind that I'm gonna post the times for whatever group I'm drawn in, so I'd appreciate if an anon in the other group kept track of their group.>Points systemOnce the qualis are done, the top 7 racists will earn their ticket to compete in the GLORIOUS /jp/ SKYDRIFT TOURNAMENT.The tournament consists of 12 ROUNDS, chosen at random and posted here shortly before we start. After each race, racists will earn the following points which will be added to the leaderboard:1st place – 10 points2nd place – 8 points3rd place – 6 points4th place – 4 points5th place – 3 points6th place – 2 points7th place – 1 pointPlease allow 2 to 3 minutes between each race so that I can post the updated leaderboard to the thread. After the 6th race, we'll have a 15 minute half-time break to take a piss and go get snacks. At the end of the 12th round, whoever has the most points WINS THE FUCKING CHIP AND BECOMES KING OF DA JPSIES.>A reminder of da rules:Both for the qualis as well as the tourney proper, we will only use the initial same 2 characters throughout. If there's any change the player will still be allowed to keep racing, but will be disqualified from the championship.>WALL OF HONORHere's a list of the tournament's champions so far:>1st edishSlowestRetard>2ndSlowestRetard>3rdcherry>4thDLL>5thDLL>6thKaiser>7thNabana>8th (current champ)Nabana
I WILL be there... prepare to get stomped... 4th place is mine!
>>50254004That list of champions follows a curious trend. Many back to back champions but not one threepeat, nor anyone who's won back to back chips won again in any following edition so far. I wonder why that is. Many mini-dynasties but not one proper dynasty.>>50254015Seems to be like if you're goo enough to aim for 4th you're good enough to aim for 1st, no? Especially in this game
Will any of the newbies step up and *FINALLY* boot me out of the qualifiers this time around, or will I *YET AGAIN* survive by the skin of my teeth and make it to the tourney to defend my dead-last place?? Oh, the excitement is just palpable...For real though, step it up newbies. You can't let me of all people show you up.
>>50255164You've gotten good, don't underestimate yourself Fester breh. But on the other hand competition has only gotten better. I think this might be the tightest tournament ever frfr.
you niggas are dead men
Found a gaming thread for last year's Halloween and god damn it feels it was forever ago. Peek into some early racing discussion and a post that got me b& lmao:https://warosu.org/jp/thread/48068090#p48128348
>>50257637that post got you banned? mods are such fags
>>50257890Not that post, scroll drown a bit
>>50257909Dude you can't just post that so casually like that
>>50257992I regret nothing
That's a very suspicious file. 528kb? I'm not risking anything.
>>50259283That copy of the game comes from the main modder of the game himself, since other pirated copies wouldn't support the mods we used to play on the Halloween event. It's perfectly safe, but if you want you can use the other cracked copy we've been using too:https://bowfile.com/5f0t
the tracks will be vanilla, right?
>>50260153YupI'll keep the tourney as old school as possibleMaybe we can race the modded tracks in an alternate tournament, say a bracketed cup for example. But the OG tourney will retain its roots.
Can those two cracks even do cross-play?
>>50262369I don't see why not. We can test that tomorrow, but no one reported any issues on the Halloween event last friday so it should all be good
>>50262428>no one reported any issues on the Halloween event last friday so it should all be goodProbably because everyone was using either the modded legit game or the same modded cracked copy, right? People using the other cracked copy, the one that we used to have in the OP, might not be able to connect with the modded cracked copy (or vice versa, idk).
I don't really like that the people in the gensou skydrift discords are talking about the /jp/ tournaments. Some of those guys have like one billion hours in the game over the last six years and would win much harder than nabana (who is also from the discords) if they ever joined. If that happens and the actual /jp/ racers (who are admittedly just having casual fun; we barely even use the optimal "meta" characters) just get totally rekt then that'd probably kill my motivation to show up.
>>50262558No pro player has ever showed up for a tourney of ours and they wouldn't even do it. Common courtesy and put yourself in their place, why would they bother joining people outside their circle and not in the same level as they are?In any case if that were to happen it'd be dealt with. Nabana is also a relative newfag to the game that happened to get good in a short period of time, like yoyo.
>>50262536Nah people were all using different versions of the game (from both cracked copies and the legit one) and nothing happened. It should all be fine!!!!!
>>50262558I mean, hence we dont really join them for that reason. Played some matches in ranked with nabana last month to see where everyone is roughly at and do feel like it would be rather one sided, and dont even really want to bother asking whether or not people would want such an experience and rather see this develop on its own homologously while just watching on the sidelines, and have been doing so since the last group was around more or less (as i do have the bad habit of seeing every search indexed website that mentions the game). I dont really see it as wrong to describe it as a casual tournament inside of the competetive circles whenever it shows up as, comparatively what people would probably expect there it is rather laid back and lower powered and not a place to show ones own prowess and instead revel in people enjoying the game. Only thing really is that drives some negativeity towards them, and i am sorry if that shows, is that matchmaking has been rather dead the past couple months after the last free run tournament, and i kind of just want to play but cant really.
Don't give up—even against players who've mastered the basics like nabana, yoyo, and dll, you still have a good chance of winning if you use items effectively. We'll worry about the even better players who show up from Discord when the time comes.
>>50262558>people in the gensou skydrift discords are talking about the /jp/ tournamentsScreencaps pls? What do they be saying
>>50262762>didn't mention meit's fucking over
>>50263570KEK WATCHU GONNA DO ABOUT IT LIL BRO
>>50263570I didn't make that post, I swear. certainly kaiser more deserves recognition
>discordhere we gocant wait for you faggots to implode and fuck off
>>50263679kaiser slacked off after winning tho plus what if he wasn't even kaiser?>>50263701isn't this the turkish tranny lmaolearn to read you retarded roach, we were shitting on discord. neck yourself, faggot
>>50263796>please read through our tranny dramano lol
yeah yeah roach-tan, we know you're a lonely sissy ;_; or whatever anyway I agree that we need to simply keep this place discord-free. we have no need to interact with those fags
yeah you're so much better than themcause you definitely don't treat this board as your discord server or anything or like that anyway mhm
Please don't do this again roach-tan. I had you drunk and crying to be left alone last time I bullied you in your thread and I don't want to have to do it again.
Well at least I can be here without having to make a d*scord account.
>>50263818You treat this board like your personal faggot tumblr blog tho when in reality you are the board's bitch clown >>50262762This is kinda bullshit tho, so many races are decided by sheer luck and literal bullshit that this game feels more luck-based than skill-based
What is kaiser lore?
>>50263829okay
Well alright then. You're still free to join us anytime of course. It's not necessarily easy to compete as a beginner but improving quickly is certainly possible.
>>50263834Guy joined in the third or so tourney, got better, started off to a booming start in the 5th edition but he choked catastrophically. Got clowned on and bullied a bit for that but he bounced back and won the following edition. Hasn't come anywhere near since. It's important to point out that the 5th tourney was the first where it was expanded from 10 races to the current 12, and under the old format he would have won it. Very similar thing happened to yoyo in the 7th edition, where he fumbled a considerable lead in the last two races to Nabana.
Kaiser is a good racer. he doesn't deserve anyone making fun of him
>>50264784it's all in good fun plus it builds character
Hi folks!!!Remember that tonight we have the pre-tourney warm up TEST RUN at 8:30 pm EST in which we will be racing through ALL TRACKS.>ALSOSad news: I tried, tested and attempted to stream these past few days to no avail. Using OBS, I've tweaked its settings following guides and videos but I always get the same error on YpuTube: "YouTube is not receiving enough video to maintain smooth streaming"I've tried some suggested methods on how to fix this on forums and other vids but nothing seems to work. So unless any of you knows how to fix this, or is willing to host a stream of our races, streaming is not yet possible. If any one of you is kind enought to host a stream (by being the host of a lobby in spectator mode) please let us know in order to test it ASAP and hopefully have it running for tonight's or, ideally, for tomorrow's races and get us a proper stream + audience.
>>50263849>>50264784I can't believe Kaiser won using Reimari. I feel they are too slow for me so it blows my mind lol>>50266540I'll be there
