I was recently relistening to IaMP's soundtrack (which is kind of a mixed bag overall with the Night disc being magnitudes better than the Day disc) and was really taken by surprise by how awesome Suika's final boss theme (The Fabled Land of Onigashima ~ Missing Power) actually was. I'd heard it multiple times before, but this was the first time it really clicked for me. There's really no other ZUN track quite like it, it's almost prog-like in how many different ideas it goes through in a relatively short time, it reminds me of the SNES FF boss themes like Battle on The Big Bridge (well, it's no Dancing Mad, but you get the idea). I also really like the arrange from the soundtrack CD (https://youtu.be/HRu4k1cQaK8?si=VPICc1b3UrMC6Zl_) because the instrumentation makes it sound even more like a boss theme from some obscure Japan-only PS1 RPG. Sadly, it's completely overshadowed by Broken Moon, meaning it doesn't get many arranges and never really gets mentioned in music discussions. What are some other less popular tracks you guys wish got more attention? Talking mostly about music from the Windows-era games, because otherwise it'd be really easy to just name every album original or PC98 track not named Bad Apple.

yes, i agree about suika's iamp theme. to be fair it is competing with broken moon. if i had to choose one i think this one's pretty underrated https://youtu.be/fRACSVolAns

I actually had this one in mind as well, it's another really unique sounding track, and it manages to be simultaneously bouncy and melancholic, which is a pretty rare combo. Although I guess it's not surprising it isn't popular given that it's tied to an unpopular character in a game already full of them.

I don't know if I'd call Onigashima unpopular but I agree it's an underrepped song. The chorus kicking in is pure audio bliss, one of the best musical payoffs in Touhou. Old Yuanxian is similar, underrated as hell song with a phenomenal pay off in the chorus.

yeah, it's less that it's necessarily super unpopular and more that I feel it's popularity is disproportional to it's quality. Big agree on Old Yuanxian, though, that song comes in absolutely blazing and somehow gets even more intense as it goes on. I was sort of under the impression it was one of the more popular TD tracks, but I guess people are bound to pay less attention to it when it's right next to the funny doki doki waku waku song (this isn't me shitting on desire drive, to be clear, I fucking love desire drive.).
