will there be a janiizu year-end countdown?
Old man can barely walk and he think he can still make movies? This is only 60 minutes but I had to turn it off halfway. Stupid as fuck and seeing Kitano move in slow motion like when he pulls out his gun and kills the person to his target's right and then his left and then shoots the target while they all wait around was mind boggling. Reminder that weebos think this guy is great.
I was in the middle of watching an episode...I guess cloudflare reached this too

>>50319804People were saying this is like Battle Royale, but there was almost no scenes of killing like it; instead, the story unfolded around a government conspiracy and the characters getting caught up in it, which was closer to Rurouni Kenshin.
>>50319081They always use terms like 国宝級イケメン and then the reveal is some B+ actor
I had to find episodes 1~4 on weibo but watching Eiko Kano commentate Madoka Magica has been really fun.

Currently watching pic related. MC is job hunting, finally gets to the final interview. She trips on some CV contraditions, can't even explain why she wants to work at some company. The final question asks her to describe her morning routine. She goes on and on about washing her face and shit. The interviewers all watch her in delight. She finally says she's trying to change her life. She gets the job.I thought most Japanese people writing professionally for shows went through the world famous gruelling job hunting process of modern Japan? How the fuck do they come with this shallow as fuck shit? I cannot fucking stand office dramas. It's all generic make believe nonsense.
>>50319081it's just Mizukami Koshi
>>50321497Whether it's tv dramas, videogames, anime or movies, Japanese people dislike making them realistic or reflecting real life 100%. I remember reading that it's because that makes it boring for them.

Absolutely shocked at how mediocre the Downtown+ content is. Matsumoto has surrounded himself with yes men so badly to the point nobody calls him out on his bad ideas anymore. Meanwhile you have shows like Suiyoubi or Chance no Jikan who are really pushing the envelope in the TV comedy world. It would have been better to retire if this was gonna be his later-era legacy.
Anyone else having trouble watching legacy content on Downtown+?The newly produced stuff plays fine, but the content from the archive (say, Gaki no Tsukai) fails with a 403 (not displayed to the user in browser). As far as I can tell, that content was never licensed in my area of the world, so I don't think, it's a licensing issue.
>>50327127VPN
>>50327177I know. I simply wanted to confirm this is not a technological problem on my end, but intentional by DT+, before potentially violating the contract by using a VPN.I mean, DT+ even bans sharing fucking screenshots in its conditions.

>... inspired by the songs of Matsutoya Yumi. How do you guys feel about shows and movies being adapted from songs? But more importantly, why are Japs doing this? I've seen between 5 and 10 shows from the last couple of years like this.Lower royalties? More control over the plot?
>>50328169from what I understand most jap media is usually made by one old rich executive wanting to do something that he likes and no one daring to say no to him
>>50328169>How do you guys feel about shows and movies being adapted from songs?I treat them like the remakes of Korean dramas; I never watch them.

>>50318163>>50319804Is it remotely historically accurate that everyone calls Futaba a kid in this? She's way past old enough to bleed, which I would have thought still applied in Meiji.
>>50336274Of course not. I haven't read the original, but it feels pretty "politically correct". In the first manga chapter he calls her a "girl", not a child, and I can't be bothered looking for a download of the novel to check that. It stuck out like a sore thumb.
>>50336274>>50336309Adulthood was literally 20 in Meiji. Also, it wouldn't surprise me if a retarded woman was considered a kid for practical purposes unless married.

Pic related was a huge waste of time. She's too pretty to be acting in such a shitty movie.>>50339842Only the first ep is freelech though. You can get up to ep 8 on Nyaa, but they don't have English subs.Btw, if that's the first thing you're downloading, remember you're supposed to show signs of activity during your first 30 days after registering, i.e., login AND complete a torrent. Idk whether the 30 day rule only applies to fresh accounts or Newbies in general (otherwise it's once every 90 days).
SASUKE will air for two consecutive nights this year.
>>50339873>She's too pretty to be acting in such a shitty movie.Every single mainstream top actress since the 80s did that, it's nothing new.
>>50339873Shitty movies is where talent gain experience and steady paychecks. I've softened my stance towards them over the years now that I understand that not every film can be a banger.
>>50339881Do the other actresses also star in films written by middle aged ladies with less than 20 years of experience?
When Higashikokubaru asked Yoshimura Hirofumi if he's gonna convince the LDP to reduce the social insurance rate (a highly controversial tax paid by the working generation to help the elderly), the camera zoomed on Beat Takeshi and he said>俺は嫌だ! >>50340059bro is already filthy rich as fuck, why does he want more money? cut the struggling ordinary japanese some slack
>>50340059Where I'm from, that social security tax is roughly 30% (split 55/45 between employer and employee). What the hell are Japs complaining about? It's like 70 usd per month for the average Tokyo wagie. It's only going to go up since they refuse to have sex, but still, it's obvious that the reduction is 100% lobbied by companies.
>>50340119Unlike in your country, the wages in Japan have stayed the same for over 30 years.

I watched this today. I like the concept and some of the characters, it has some nice sets and shots of 80s Tokyo but desu I don't think it's a very good movie. The plot is hard to follow and relies on exposition, and the protagonist yaks are kinda pathetic. Characters die too suddenly before you get to know them. It's also too slow to get to the part where Izumi finds her inner strength. And it's tonally confusing, I can't tell if things are supposed to be comedic or serious. I rate it 4/10.

>>50373046I watch Somai's movies not because of their story and narrative qualities. I watch Somai's movies because they tickle my 80s JK fetish.

>>50377309Getting slapped by Antonio Inoki was an honor>Antonio Inoki was invited to a university for a speech in the 80s and then told the students they can punch him in the guts. This guy punched him quite hard so Inoki retaliated with a stiff slap. The student, who later turned out to be an Inoki fan, had a successful career and life. The incident became very famous as the then live clip of the binta (slap in the face) was shown many times on Japanese television. After that, various celebrities, politicians, athletes, schools/universities and even common people in Japan asked Inoki to slap them to install courage or even as some sort of strange blessing. The slap's name is the "Fighting Spirit (or Toukon) Slap." (闘魂ビンタ)
Miss King was a complete was of time. Acting was stilted, plot was boring and predictable, the pacing suffered from only being 8 episodes but the script wasn't interesting enough to make fleshing things out worth it. The only part I liked was how cute Yamaguchi's character became after the flashback
>>50379956I agree with all of this but I still enjoyed it. I think I just like Non.
I watched Tetsuo: The Iron Man recently. It's one of the most unique cinematic experiences I've ever had, the first half is truly mesmerising. Unfortunately I think it gets a bit boring after that.
Goyouda "Beat Takeshi" Politarou
>>50380509Personally, as someone who have rewatched Tetsuo many times, not one scene was boring or something that should have been left lying on the editing floor. I believe that Tetsuo is Tsukamoto's most unique work. You can feel his passion beaming all over it, not just simply as a filmmaker but as an artist. Pure adrenaline rush watching all the shit he pulled in that small apartment despite the limited budget and the lack of manpower. Tetsuo is the fruit of Tsukamoto's experimental labors that lasted 15 years, which unfortunately, most are not available anywhere. I recommend watching The Phantom of Regular Size, it's the prototype short to Tetsuo. Many of the techniques and themes he used in Tetsuo were from it.

>>50388278So will they get it more historically accurate? It's fully fictional with no specific dynasty with a mash of costumes and locations. Not sure how it'll go because of the current political situation but they could film here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8l7PwCdALxE
>>50388419they filmed kingdom in china and the anime's architecture and costuming were mostly spot onbut; japanese movies about china are very japanized and that's how they want it
https://youtu.be/cN_EHqTXXzYMillion views???
>>50388521Paid ad views are included in the view count
>>50388431https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ko425hm6pwWhat I'm saying it for live-action, they have to pick a period. If they want to stick to the Ming-Qing palace, they should make it Ming
>>50388419I mean, the series is Disney princess level fiction with very little understanding of China beyond "uh, they had courts?". It's a fairytale backdrop, you could do all the shots with a hallway and some establishing shots.>>50388537>they have to pick a periodIt's not set in any period to begin with. Nobody cares about how the ping pong clan had different hats and ruled for a long illustrious 5 years before they were all eaten by the ching chong clan who were offended by their use of the color blue.
>>50388537do they *need to*, need to though? the thing that brought this title to the dance was the mary sue navigating the palace intrigue plot and not the 1:1 historical accuracy and timelining
>>50388554>>50388565Might as well film in Kyoto since it's mostly a copy of Chinese architecture.
>>50388613you can just get all the chinese tourists to play extras as well lols
>>50388696True. We don't know if it will get a decent budget either, filming at home with what's available will save them money.
>>50388537>>50388705It's going to look like this.

>>50387834The anime's gimmick is that it was an anime that has a live-action-like style, adapting it to a live-action kills the purpose. And the anime movie is only an hour long
>>50390771except it's koreeda so it's not going be a shot for shot remake. stylistic choices and length of the original are irrelevant when he's just going to take the base story and make something completely new
>>50390771Anon, re-read your post. They're adapting the oneshot, not the anime, so the anime's gimmick, length or whatever has nothing to do with the live action.

>>50391878Wouldn't 万歳 be "mansai" instead of "manzai"?
>>50393574*banzai
>>50393574萬歳 万歳 万才 漫才They used all of it at some point.
>>50393667万歳 is BANZAI, of which 萬歳 is the 旧字体.万才 points out a talent, while 漫才 is the "manzai".Am I wrong?
>>50393704漫才 is the shabekuri manzai that started ~100 years ago with wearing western suits and just talking, before then there were other performances called manzai (like 尾張万歳) that were primarily performed around the new years and later became stage performances around the Edo-Meiji periods. 万歳 became banzai sometime during the Meiji period.
