I listened to a lot of musical phenomenons but for some reason the one that I feel it has the weirdest energy still remains Touhou. It feels strangely magnetic to me, despite not even being in my favorites.

Touhou music has a very consistent yet niche aesthetic. One thing I find really interesting about a lot of the tracks is how, depending on the context, they can feel either fairytale-like or futuristic.
I think a lot of them are also more complex than you first realize, like they have a lot more going on that, the first few times you listen to them, you don't pick up on, and maybe that has something to do with why people don't get bored of them as easily, if that makes sense.

I like the concept behind it since I'm a trainfag

The early onest expecially

Are you talking specifically about the music albums or even the game soundtracks?

>feel either fairytale-like or futuristic.
That's kind of funny, but I guess the distinction between fantasy and sci-fi was thinner before we got into the "age of enlightenment".
And what sounds futuristic and fantastical has also probably changed quite a bit in the last decades

I would say it is because the music's aesthetic doesn't align with either traditional fantasy or futurism, so it's what you make of it. It sort of exists independent of the context you hear it in, but still enhances that context.

Touhou really nailed the music. And the fans did some of the best fan art that I've ever seen in fandoms

For me, choosing a single one is easier than a top 5 or 10. What are some of your favorites then?

Not for the past few games.

zun's greatest strength was his composition, which hard carried touhou. even to this day there are remixes of tracks even from the pc98 games.

I can't find it know but I think there was a top 200 touhou songs video/playlist somewhere.
Which I guess is a bit less than half of the songs
