is there nowhere I can just download someone's 20k card deck and grind that?when i immerse, I literally just cannot be bothered to ever press stop and mine words, call it lack of discipline or whatever, but for me it's just not feasible mining 20+ cards a day. so for me it'd really be better to just grind a premade deck till the end, while of course spending the majority of the time immersing.

I was the only white (and american) in my classes. the reason I enrolled there was because I know mandarin to a high level of proficiency, too, but in our class we had majority chinese but then people from korea, thailand, and vietnam. most were fresh out of high school, and wanting to attend university in japan. most of the kids were bright, too, they weren't like scam workers or anything like that. they wanted to hit N1 and go beyond (which was offered at the school because we never studied to any tests aside from their eju classes (that's a supplement for studying for uni entrance exams which I didnt need because I already have a masters and did not intend on jp uni), just learn the language then get into actual japanese literature).and at the lower levels that I was in, it was minna no nihongo. some of my friends from the school had friends in other language schools, and though schools use different materials (sometimes in-house), most of the schools that used generic materials in the lower level courses used minna no nihongo.and proof in the pudding, basically all the graduates from my school went on to enter top universities in japan or go into specialized (non-factory) work in japan.I will say though that the school itself still "sucked" In that it's treated like a military program, teachers scream at the students, some kids cry in class (I'm older and dont give a fuck, but if some japanese dude is screaming at the top of his lungs insulting some 17 year old chinese girl she's going to start bawling lol), and we had to spend nearly all our time outside of class studying (and the chinese and myself knew kanji already). but even after a few months, when having conversations with people when on holiday break, people in japan thought I must have been living in japan and speaking japanese for years, when I had only been learning for 3 months.long story short, effort is king, no matter what resource you pick. though I'd caution against stuff that's too "western". my philosophy on stuff is that if it's good enough for these hardcore asian students, it's good enough for me. and it's the hardcore asians who end up learning japanese to a high level of proficiency at a far higher rate than whites and other westerners.migaku is expensive, right? you dont need it for anything really. use anki to make flashcards, it's free, and you can customize them as much as you want. for reading websites, use yomitan which lets you highlight words and then you can use ankiconnect to have it generate cards for you. there are other free addons you can use. even your textbooks you can just get for "free" online. the only reason I went to a school was because I was burned out from my career and wanted to work and speak in japanese, and going to a language bootcamp for "this is your only chance to get into japanese university and workforce" type asian kids meant I couldnt slack at all, and I got tons of practice speaking every day and the school had specialty modules in things like keigo and a lot of formal/social stuff that's a bit trickier than in a textbook.so look at people who are successful in learning japanese for your goals. a lot of westerners are successful at reading or even writing japanese. but in my experience the people who can "pass" for semi-native in other aspects of life like speaking and handwriting (like quickly writing on paper writing essays) and knowing business formalities are almost all asians, so I just went with the "asian" method of learning japanese.learning japanese doesnt cost money (though these types of schools are around $2000 usd a semester), it's just a matter of effort. if a few hundred for migaku keeps you focused, go for it, but asbplayer is a kind of free version of it if you watch a lot of things. I didnt really have much time to watch things but I got my speaking and listening in from actual people because I was living there. good luck on your journey.
