I really didn't like Keiichi vs Rena in Tsumihoroboshi-hen, hopefully they did it better in the anime. The foreshadowing was as subtle as a brick to the head, I mean you knew from the water gun fight that they'll eventually duel. The police anime-gasping like it's a DBZ fight was goofy as hell but some of the kidnapped kids cheering for Rena was just bad writing. Then there's the weird flirty KeiRena banter, it honestly felt like the stakes were lower than in the water gun fight. Ryukishi isn't good at action scenes, his characters apparently have infinite stamina and can't land a hit on each other in a 10-15 minutes fight because they're just sooo evenly matched! Oh yeah, Keiichi sucks ass, he can't do anything on his own other than cry all day. Tsumihoroboshi-hen had a strong start and a weak end. As a concept I think their duel would've worked better if it happened at the dam construction site and they were all alone at the start, with their friends showing up near the end and hearing the metal clashes from a distance.
