lmao wonder why the last one got deleted
>>50542014Yeah kinda sad to see on-topic threads get deleted for no reason
>>50542014FMW put me on Kurumi, it's a shame she sucks
>>50542043Really makes you wonder
They should really make a vote for this kinda stuff
>>50542236Implying they care (about pc98).
I took a "which 2hu r u" quiz a while back, and apparently I'm Chiryuri!
>>50542542Remember which specific one? I'm bored to death and it's been a while. I remember one that was a two-parter which put you into a "category" in p1 before giving you a specific 'hu in p2. Personality tests are fun when the author gets creative.
>>50542555Yeah, I think it was the same one. Here's the link:https://uquiz.com/quiz/HRD6Yo/massive-touhou-personality-quiz-70-characters
>>50542627That was the one! I faintly remember getting Okina last time I took it, now it's Yukarin. Thank you.

My wife can go Super Saiyan Blue, can yours?
>>50542109If she used her iconic Kuruma Laser instead you'd see her true power
>>50542962My wife can tell you about chemtrails and shit
I don't really know much about the PC-98 apart from it's primarily associated with otaku and was a haven for eroge, what can you actually do with it apart from otaku stuff? Could you play "regular" games on it, like say the C64, Amiga, PC, etc. were used for in the West? Could you use productivity software on it? How was it to actually use outside of eroge?
>>50543309It was just a series of PCs by NEC for the Japanese market. There was a plenty of productivity software as it was primarily intended for the professional use, which is also why there were so many eroges (salaryman love their eroges). Though there were many non-eroges for it (and also just about every important western game was ported for it).
>>50542873Where?
>>50543309PC98 computers by NEC have a different architecture compared to the IBM computers which ended winning the war (which they were losing in nippon only because their support for displaying kanji wasn't nearly as good), but they still had plenty of software made for them, including windows 95, 98 and 2000.
>>50543445Come on, don't act like you can't notice it just because she's on the smaller side.
>>50542627Huh...
>>50542627Huh alright.I don't feel like she fits me that well, but she's definitely the one who fits me best out of the Love Sign group I was pre-sorted into (which also has sakuya, yoshika, aunn, youmu, ichirin and mayumi).

>>50542627...I'm retarded?
>>50544064heh

>>50543609Indeed she does!
>>50542627this is nonsense
>>50544298That sounds exactly like something Futo would say.
>>50542627Can't say I'm dissatisfied but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't caught off guard by this.>>50543651Metal Slug-esque Touhou spinoff where you play as Rika and blow up the Hakurei Shrine... please...>>50544063Childhood friends who went to the same school together, but not the same class due to age differences. Nowadays they frequently help one another with experiments depending on whtther or not said experiments are within their area of expertise (Rika specializes in Physics and the Occult, Rikako specializes in Chemistry and Alchemy).
>>50542627The past two times I've taken this I've gotten Kaguya and been perfectly fine with it but now I'm suddenly Murasa. Doesn't even feel like much has changed with me is the funny thing.

>>50543747>>50542146jannies deleted so much comments on this thread calling them out and on the decline of this board.
>>50545778Something something global rule 8
>>50545793In PC98 that is
>>50542627How?
>>50546011You're a very judgmental person.
>>50543319>>50543494I'm confused. Apparently they weren't fully IBM PC-compatible, but they ran specialized versions of Windows anyway? So you can't run PC-98 games on a regular Windows computer, at least not without workarounds?
>>50546045Exactly. They were pretty much an entirely different kind (aka architecture) of computer. They ran versions of windows made specifically for them, and software made for them. That is why you can't run PC98 software directly on regular computers, not even with workarounds. The only way to run it is by emulating an entire PC98 machine (with programs like neko project, anex86, T-next, dosbox-x, etc), at which point the OS your computer is running (windows, linux, etc) doesn't matter as long as it can run the emulator itself. You can read some more details here, although it's quite technical.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PC-98#Hardware
>>50545489This was a cute ending. For the sake of Yumemi's sanity I hope Rikako never becomes a science genius.
>>50546070How popular was the FM Towns in Japan back in the day? The most I know about it is that the creator of YSFlight was a big fan of it and even made an emulator for it. I've also known about the Sharp, but I know even less about that, let alone which of the Japanese computers had the most marketshare.

>>50552867To quote my roommate:>This is when I start FUCKING NIGGAS!
To bring back some discussion, what's the highest difficulty level you guys have beaten PoDD on?Just Normal for me, but I'm about to try Hard soon.
>>50554260Assuming this is you, why don't you hug the bottom of the screen? What is the strategic reason for this?
>>50554306Nah, this is just a random webm I've come across in the past, which shows how retardedly OP the cpu is (I hope you didn't think I'm playing as yumemi).
>>50554323Whoops, I meant "do"; talking about the player on the left.>(I hope you didn't think I'm playing as yumemi)We can only hope to git that gud (ᵕ—ᴗ—)
>>50554341It's all good.Watching the video again myself, it doesn't look like crosses coming from EX attacks ever reach down enough to hit you with their arms if you hug the bottom. This is something I've never noticed before, but if confirmed it would mean that's the best way to fight yumemi.
>>50554354I'll keep that in mind the next time I play PoDD. I almost got a 1cc, but lost to Yumemi.
Orange! A good source of Vitamin Cute!
>>50554460What does Orange even do?
>>50554464The best she can!
>>50554464I've got something in mind for her.
>>50554369Something to note is that Yumemi in story mode doesn't have a death timer unlike the others. She'll continue to dodge everything forever unless her AI makes a mistake. However, if you do die, the game gives her a timer which makes her screw up eventually. Keep that in mind if you make it to her without any spare lives.

>>50569995some "genius" she is when she's too stupid to figure out how to take a hit
By any chance, does anyone know of resources for learning PC-98 development? I've been thinking about making a Touhou fangame for the platform.
>>50557250yes
>>50574309it's not time yet
>>50573714Here's a few I've just foundhttps://pc98.ne.jp/devdocs/https://printf.neocities.org/programminghttps://www.target-earth.net/wiki/doku.php?id=blog:pc98_devtoolsI've noticed the first one also has a dicksword link in the sidebar, you could try joining that if you need some handholding.
>>50543494No, they use an 8086, it's just the entire memory map, BIOS and hardware interface that's different
>>50569995You can still get a hit on her if you're using a character like Reimu, Rikako, or Yumemi. You just gotta gamble with the orbs/gears/crosses.
>>50574864This is a lot more information than I expected would be out there, thanks a ton!
>>50575242And those are part of what constitutes the "architecture" of a computer, yeah. I didn't say the cpu architecture was different.
