I put this game off for too long, can we have a thread about it? I just finished the main story and I'm starting the DLC. I love this game and I don't want it to end! They should keep making DLC for it forever!

There's unfortunately no way to make it not end eventually, all good things are good because they have an end, but you can at least make sure to play just a few hours per week and not focus on the missions too much, and the game will last you a long time.

I have 69.7 hours in it
Genuinely one of the worst games I ever played
>>
i started mystia's izakaya not too long ago but haven't continued. it started to get overwhelming making specialized dishes for everyone, even though it was very enjoyable. although i read on the steam winter sale thread that things eventually become more automated. perhaps i should push through just a little further cause im really excited to see where this games goes. i absolutely love this sort of genre so im confused why i haven't kept playing.
>>
I played it and enjoyed it, then stopped playing for personal reasons and forgot about it
Now I'm scared to make a new game and restart, because I got the cool 2023 event outfit
>>

All of the outfits can be bought with moriya coins at kourindou, this was implemented so that even people who missed out on getting them for free when they came out could get them in some way.

It gets a lot easier once you get 3 partners but really it isn't so bad as long as you have Kosuzu on cooking and you can focus on memorizing easy dishes to make for the rare guests

I only play on weekends because this is my go-to comfy game and I like to keep it special, and veen tho I've been playing it for 2 years now and have this many hours clocked in I still feel as if I'm not playing it "correctly".
What I mean is that I see many people mentioning they've finished the main story and I'm nowhere near that since as I mentioned in the winter sale thread every session takes me at least 30 minutes (and that's just one in game night) because I have to open the recipe book almost every time a rare customer comes (aside of the super easy ones like Marisa), I still haven't met all the characters, I don't make nearly as much money as I've seen other people make each night (most I've made is like 20k), I'm always short on many ingredients, and leveling up hearts takes a LONG time (for example most of the Divine Spirit Mausoleum gang I'm still at 1 or 2 hearts, or Kagerou which I feel I've known for a long time I 'm still at 4 hearts) whcih in turns delays unlocking new recipes and missions.
I just don't get how people progress that quickly in the game in a fraction of the hours I've put in. My usual gaming session is simply go gather ingredients I'm low on, complete the missions at hand (like having X character try Y dish), and open in a different location. I know I'm playing in comfy mode and not as a speedrunner, but it's still crazy how I see there's simply a lot I haven't yet unlocked that others already have.

Anon, you might be a little slow. I beat this game in 35 hours without even trying to. The progression is sort of railroaded by Chen's debts. As long as you keep giving rare guests dishes with as many tags as you can, you'll max out their bonds. I also played the base game in the 'intended' order of progression, maxing out each area's bonds before moving onto the next one. By doing that you get certain partners and passive items that give buffs (including characters that will 'gather' ingredients prior to opening if prompted).

In all fairness I HAVE been playing intentionally slow as molasses, max 2 in-game days each session (and each sesh is roughly only on saturdays) and play for the comfy management autism rather than finishing the story. I also don't go in order of the DLCs, I just go all over the place each night and this is why my bond with most characters hasn't maxed as someone who finishes a whole area and moves on.
That said, there are some key aspects I don't really know about or have given much of a fuck about so far such as charms or buffs, which might be hurting my money making progression. How much am I supposed to be making on average each night going by the latest "new" characters I've logged into the book are the Garden of the Sun gang?

Also, it's frustrating how difficult it is to get a decent amount some ingredients like Lunar Herb or Udumbara and such, which is why I can seldom offer dishes that have those since I carry so few because no one sells that shit and the few ones I forage are no more than 5 or so every day, which is why my stock grows at a snail's pace. I only feel comfy offering a dish if I can make at least 40 or so, any less and I run out of the ingredients they use for a while.

Wriggle gives you Udumbara when you can let her gather. Basically, you shouldn't be keeping anything but the most abundant and easily accessible dishes on your menu. Rice balls, ramen, the soups, salads, whatever you have the absolute most of. That way you can save all the rare ingredients for when you have a rare guest come in and you can serve them the way they specifically like. Having Udumbara cakes on the main menu is nightmarish, don't do that! I genuinely think what you should do to get the most out of this game is start a new save entirely and progress through each area in order and keep a little list by your side of dishes that fulfill your rare guest tags, and what ingredients you can add to them to hit the most possible tags. I think you'll get a lot more out of it this way and you'll start to see more of how the game actually works on a mechanical level by playing to 'win'. I found it super easy to memorize rare guest orders once you do them enough, since most are a base dish coupled with one or two ingredients to hit the most tags. I can't imagine I would get much enjoyment out of the game if I wasn't playing this way

Ok ok I took note of that. But as to this
>Wriggle gives you Udumbara when you can let her gather.
How/when can I do that? First time I hear about this being a thing lmao
One other question is that if I should only serve the easy dishes that use common ingredients, then how do I make more money than what I usually make so far each night (12 to 20k)? Just by sheer volume of cheap dishes sold?
Asking because the other day I saw a video of a dude clearing over 100k and it wasn't even midnight and that is absolutely insane to me, I have no idea how they get to those levels and what struck me the most was that it didn't seem he was serving any rare customer either, just dishing out shit lightning fast. Idk what buffs or characters he was using, but still that pace seems like it was another game entirely.
>>
>>50544802
I managed to beat it in like 50-60 hours but that was due to spending 10-20 maxing bonds of dlc characters before starting the concert
>>
>>50545206
>How/when can I do that?
At her level 5 bond. Each of the three characters per area upon reaching the max level bond will reward you with either a special item, a new outfit, or becomes available for gathering resources. The resource gatherers are very helpful because they usually gather a decent amount of every item in an area for only half an hour in game time cost.
If you don't care to specifically 100% certain areas and just move about as you please, your bond progression will probably be pretty slow but still there's a couple things that might help. Try inviting some resource gatherers to whichever area you choose to open at. You'll probably have to look on a wiki to see who the gatherers are, but at least you can start by inviting Wriggle now to hopefully get her closer to a level 5 bond to collect more items for you. I'd also recommend using only the suspicious cooking stations on rare guests to allow them to place more orders per night. The more you serve them and the higher they rate the dishes, the more points you get to their bonds.
>how do I make more money than what I usually make so far each night (12 to 20k)?
Honestly, you really don't need much more money than that in the first place. If you were to buy every single item and dish from every grocer in the game, that only costs around 17k per day. If you only have mostly common ingredients, make sure you have some decent drinks to offer at least. You can make a lot of money from the expensive drinks, and if someone rich shows up at night like Marisa, you can basically just give her only the best of the drinks and make a decent chunk of extra cash from that alone.
If you really want to get a super high profit night like 100k or more, it may require a fair bit of prep work and understanding of the game than what you may care to do so casually. A lot of the profit can be dependent upon tips, which is influenced by the combo, many spell cards, and other bonuses. Optimizing rare guests spell cards is pretty important as they can increase tips directly, give you extra cash, or make the guests give higher ratings on the dishes. Some special guests spell cards are pretty important too (which is annoying cause you cant really control if they show up), cause they can cause all guests to finish their dishes instantly or have them only order the most expensive dishes. A lot of it really is just figuring out the best spell card combos. Having a lot of the most expensive dishes and drinks on the menu does play a part too. For something a little more relaxed, be mindful of your opening location because certain normal guests have lower budgets than others. The ones on Youkai Trail are generally the poorest iirc.

Fuckin A, thanks a lot anon. Not OP but I really appreciate this thread existing because I too love this game and those questions I asked on my posts were things that had been bugging be for quite a while and I hadn't seen much people discussing the game here at /jp/. I'll get comfy drunk and play on Friday and apply your wisdom.

Lack of difficulty to an extreme amount and how samey it was for basically the whole game

It's genuinely great
