Dunno, think that's the first time I've seen things play out like that, but with the switch well out of view it's just a guess. Engineer never walked back though, or if they did I missed it entirely, possibly got on the back entrance which is out of view of the cam when on the near side.

If it was a manual switch and you never saw it before, I guess it was a fault. Maybe the cold weather broke something down the line and the train had to turn back.

Well the red train in >>50654127 continued on the direction it was originally headed, I figured it was a short run I've just never paid attention for or a one-off. But yeah the switch being finicky due to cold/ice is what I'd figure as well.
