Then there are a million sequels that dripfeed tidbits of lore in their arcade mode campaigns, but the parts that stand out are that in one, Arcueid's succubus cat Len has an evil alter ego who wants to turn the world into a snowy dream world and turns out to be a lackey of Aoko who is the main villain, and in another, Sion despairs at the inevitable end of the world and turns into an Egyptian goddess wanting to turn all humans into text on obelisks that can't be destroyed even if the Earth is destroyed.

Kiritsugu using that term was always odd, since it means something completely different in the terminology of the Type Moon universe (someone who uses one of the few truly physically impossible forms of magic like time/dimensional travel as opposed to magecraft like elemental manipulation). I'm guessing the intent in his case is that he's using it in the way a regular person would use the word, though, as in telling Shirou to become someone who the even the average person who doesn't believe in magic would associate with wizardry, as opposed to falling into the rigid practices of magecraft.

Was it the original 2004 release or Realta Nua? By the time Realta Nua came out, Urobuchi was writing Fate/Zero. It could just be that Nasu knew him since before then, though, since they were in talks about having Urobuchi write a Kirei vs Kiritsugu short story since early on, which evolved into an entire series about the fourth war.

Yeah, Fate will delve into the difference between 魔法 and 魔術 later on (although this doesn't help much with how Kiritsugu uses the word 魔法, as he seemingly uses it interchangeably as a layman's term). Regarding Noble Phantasms, this is more of a Nasu chuuni thing where he gives a term a relatively straightforward name in Japanese, then gives it an English reading that's much more indirect or even pure misleading Engrish for the sake of sounding cool.

My confusion stemmed from the fact that the first time Noble Phantasms are mentioned is when Rin tells Shiro they are the crystallization of the feelings of those who wished upon a miracle. I thought Noble Phantasm was a technical term related only to the "spiritual aspect" of their origin, while 宝具 was the general term.

Rin was the classmate he admired, and Sakura was someone he felt he needed to protect. Shirou is a self-sacrificing idealist who was essentially guided through life by the things he believed in, but Sakura was an exception for him. Only when dealing with Sakura was the idealistic and profound Shirou Emiya reduced to a mere human being with more mundane thoughts and emotions. I don't think that fanart reflects Satsuki's personality very well. The remake seems to be leaning more into Satsuki's hajidere tendencies if anything, which the original VN had hints of but turned into more of an unlucky dork personality in Melty Blood.

to be fair I think they're just leaning into the "modern jk" angle too much, was joking about her playing a Switch (despite the remake's 2014 setting anyway...) but if you directly compared the most common depictions of both generations then there's some traits of the more recent one that are portrayed in that.
But anyway I do appreciate them playing up the stalker angle a little, it's an aspect I don't see very often with Satsuki despite it being the whole reason she died to begin with (and while yes she was never shown to be super obsessive, she still knew about the Arimas despite Shiki never talking to her and her actively hating Arihiko. Though also I don't know how closely she could have been watching him if she mistook fucking Joshua Graham for him).
It's a shame too because while it'd be more inappropriate for her to be full yandere (which is what I think most people would default to were they to include it), Satsuki works as a character because she has teeth. Even when ignoring the bloodsucking part (which is the case in everything after the original game), her being so dopey works as well as it does because she isn't entirely all there to begin with (which again is the reason she got bit).
It adds a bit more flavor to her past just "I'm an innocent JK but oh no now I'm a vampire and have to kill people! And the prom's tomorrow!"
