Shit, we will never know if they won the second 1 million yen now.

Anyone watching this?Ikoku Nikki made me crave for more female centered drama.

>>50623695I rewatched Battle Royale again since it was its release's 25th anniversary last month. As a fanatic of the death game genre who consumed all kinds of death games from different mediums and countries, none of them hits like Battle Royale's sheer thrill, atmosphere and surrealism. Takeshi Kitano's death scene at the end of the movie is one of the best in all of cinema.
>>50624274did he died
What are the best sites to stream Jdramas and stuff? The ones in the FAQ are all dead.
>>50626977i was under the impression that this was going to be the launchpad for ALL of the actors in it. very few of them hit it biggirl #13 chiaki kuriyama looks like this at 41
>>50628318>for ALL of the actors in it.That never happens. In every popular school-themed dramas and movies where there are lots of young actors and actresses, only a few hit it big. Kinpachi-sensei, Dragon Zakura, 3 Nen A Gumi, you name them, not all of the actors there hit it big.
>>50628258Streaming is obsolete, just download from nyaa.
Honestly curious about current reception of her. Will things turn out good for her again?
>>50628441Everyone is still shitting on her. She doesn't have the acting ability and the strong presence to force people to ignore her messy private life and enjoy her acting like Sawajiri Erika, she's just a pretty face with no talents.
>>50628397https://asianwiki.com/Battle_Royalethe most surprising one to not get major roles was the FMC aki maedakou shibasaki, it feels like i've seen her everywhere for 2 decades
>>50628258none are free anymoreuse nyaa or pay for netflix
>>50628496>>5062840799% of the time with torrenting, anything old and niche will have 0 seeders. But nevermind, I found one. Search through past thread archives if you want it.
>>50628453It all depends on the talent agency the talent belongs to. Fukasaku is an auteur so he gave jackshit about the power of the talent agency, he picked his cast based on his own judgement, but outside Battle Royale, Maeda belongs to a no name talent agency and Shibasaki belongs to the giant Stardust.
>>50628450I see... that doesn't give me hopes for a similar situation then.

Beat Takeshi reminisced about the late actor Takakura Ken when the topic was about the record rise in gold prices>When I co-starred with Takakura Ken-san in a film, I received a medal made out of gold from him. The kind you wear around your neck. It had Takakura Ken's name written on the back, and the word "Thank you”. I've kept it all this time, but I guess it's a very valuable item now. I wonder if I should sell it.

Why are most Japanese dramas so preachy and moralistic?
>>50648410They're taught how to write that way in scriptwriting school. I think it comes from classic literature influence, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, The Water Margin, etc.. Those stories had themes that were portrayed by characters clearly representing what they stood for. So now you every teacher in these schools teach their students to write characters that way because it's more "omoshiroi" that way. Same reason every drama used to have some sort of forced misunderstanding plotline, though it's not as popular anymore. These techniques aren't fundamentally bad but mediocre writers will make formulaic writing more obvious.

Beat Takeshi on old age and retirement >Back in my younger days, I used to think, “What am I gonna do in my old age? I gotta save money.” But once I saved up and thought retirement would be secure, that came with its own set of problems. The most important thing when you get older is still being able to go out and have fun with your former co-workers. Me for instance, when I shoot films, I use many guys who have been with me for decades, like the lighting guy, the cameraman. But now they are old and none of them are actually working. That's why I call them to hang out. I ask about six old geezers to come along and talk shit to each other. People who wake up with something to do, somewhere to go, they're the strong ones. So, retirement is really about how you choose to live. Just sitting at home drinking tea? That's no good.
>>50656867Takeshi is filthy rich so he can say whatever he likes from a comfort zone, but in reality the average old Japanese people are living hand-to-mouthhttps://topics.smt.docomo.ne.jp/article/shueisha/trend/shueisha-256442

>>50659764well fuck, i won't question it then. i thought the koreans had it right with the slim fit and shoe game and everyone copies them
>>50659769Japan still does that too but there's a divergence between those who copy Korea and those who want uniquely Japanese fashion. I'd be all for nippon to have their own fashion sense again but they keep making up this ugly shit like hiding the human form and wearing baggy crap. No wonder Korea is still on top of fashion trends.
>>50656874I read this article and I think this guy isn't that smart. 35,000 yen a week is a reasonable amount for a senior citizen with things to enjoy using this money (unless it's soaplands, I know old Japanese men love soaplands). >>50656988Takeshi was heading towards the retirement path when he graduated from most of his remainder regular tv shows four years ago, but he still kept TV Tackle and Marumie because they're the shows that he feels most comfortable with and suitable for his age (and because they still pay him a lot for doing them lol).

thoughts on naomi watanabe's tokyo dome live>the bitrate for the stream was terrible (5000kbps) and it becomes unwatchable at times because of the noisy led screen background>not surprised they had to mute the beyonce tracks, but it's just sad considering how quintessential it is to naomi's career>during the segment where she's reenacting her time at NSC, there's guest appearances by various comedians (jungle pocket, sissonne, chocoplanet, satoshi mukai) in which the seniors bully the juniors. chocoplanet's matsuo makes a reference to his infamous "amateurs" line which made me fucking cringe>they actually showed the original scenes from her first tv appearances and holy shit has she gotten fat. first time i've seen those in not-240p>i'm glad she delivered on the one thing i was hoping for out of this live, a reunion for picaru no teiri. sad that yuji ayabe wasn't there though, it's not like he's busy or anything so wtf...>she got brutally upstaged by chidori, which is funny because earlier in the live peace matayoshi warns her to avoid that happening>before she performs her hairspray song, she gets undressed/dressed on stage which was kinda shocking and she even commented midst change "i didn't think it'd be this revealing">i figured yuki chiba would be called as a musical guest since they both disgustingly worship black people. i've never heard anything from him besides that one "okane kasegu" meme line, but his niggerbabble music is just as stupid as i thought. it's like SHO's rap music but without the lolcow comedic value>surprisingly the lady gaga song wasn't muted for the stream, and the reference to lady gaga's tetsuko no heya appearance was funny>the live just anticlimactically ends after that with her saying goodbyes which was kinda shit

Nyaa is really not good for Japanese films and show. Been trying to search for My Rainy Days (2009) but all of them are dead.

>>50669053Are you the guy who fulfilled some sub request recently?I don't mean to sound like an asshole but you shouldn't go crazy and spend 10k on invites to random people who may affect your reputation, given how hard and how long it takes to build a ratio. Some trackers can ban you if you invite just any random person too. Maybe you're lucky and this dude is like me. I got an invite from a kindly c/lit/ more than 13 years ago, which probably the best thing that has ever happed to me on 4chan, and to this day I'm still a respectable user on BiB. But it's nice, standing on stage like this once in a while. Tell me your schedule next time.>Takeshi: No I don't wanna. Can you recommend me some shows where the protagonist is an asshole? Not an anti hero or "I did it for the greater good" or "I did what had to be done" or delinquent with a heart of gold, someone who is genuinely a bad person. Yes I've seen legal high. Something either about a business or cheating or getting away with murder/etc
>>50670198>cheatingThe Confidence Man JP if you haven't seen it, same scriptwriter as Legal High. MC could be considered asshole-ish.
>>50670198I think you would like late night tv dramas.-Watashi no Otto wa Reitouko ni Nemutte Iru-Kyouso no Musume
>>50670217I've seen it, I had a good time, That's still a bit moral faggy as they usually show the people they scam are happier after being scammed or deserve to be scammed as they themselves are assholes. jimenshi would more fit the bill but I've seen it. I'm just having a bad week and want to see someone go ape shit.
>>50670198Byakuyako 2006, the drama plays up the melodramatic tragic romance bit but the leads are both victims and awful people.

Beat Takeshi exposes the LDP members who aim to destroy PM Takaichi>It feels like public opinion, or rather the whole of Japan, has rallied behind Takaichi-san. But will she really be able to deliver as much as she says she will. This time, she's receiving such excessive attention and expectations, but behind the scenes, there seem to be plenty of people in the LDP ready to hold her back. It's all so obvious.
>>50678005Will Kitano get canceled for saying this? The LDP are powerful

>>50678017He didn't say something very controversial. Even if he did, Takeshi is too big to be cancelled. If the FRIDAY scandal didn't affect him much, nothing will.

I will never understand why people choose to listen to celebrities unironically, esp. those who talk about matters outside their area of expertise (i.e., the arts).I know perfectly well why they are put in front of a camera and have a space to talk about this shit, but they should only influence the less educated. It's like giving credence to some random Twitch streamer. What exactly compels you to follow their agenda?
>>50678999Every time I just remember that Ricky Gervais Golden Globe video.
>>50678999i don't think people watch kitano or hiroyuki for knowledge. ok hold on, his friend who has the squre/circle rimmed glasses seems pretty smart, but toeh than that they're watching for entertainment. they're watching their tv dad talking shit about someone else
>>50679209gervais said what he said because he doesn't want leftist celebrities to use their platform to upset the people bankrolling them
>>50678005the good thing about guys like takeshi and sanma is that they make bold political statements in a lighthearted and comical manner reflecting their geinin side without offending anyone. in contrast, geinins like bakusho mondai's ota who last week live on tv was basically trying to pull the same shit okada tatsuya pulled on takaichi >>50662377 and as a result he's been getting bullied by netizens ever since
