Been reading up on Buddhist teaching and philosophy, why is Hijiri seen in a bad light when most of her teachings and beliefs align with Buddhist teachings of Karma, Moksha, True Knowledge and breaking free of the cycle of life and death?

Because fans and translations are retarded. For the latter, they mindlessly translate anything non-human or non-human related as "demonic".
