Though I find it amusing that you had the same issues I had when genning Ariya from the back (bone wing and fire wing insist on staying on the left and right respectively no matter the angle you look at her from), she's a real pain to gen because of this, always requires lots of manual editing. To be frank, it was just an honest mistake from me and I wouldn't have accepted it if I knew. My brain can barely wrap itself around characters from behind. I figured I had the wings placed correctly, but I actually didn't? I can barely visualize the character turning around in my head to figure out whether I was right or not. You could play with Orange's baton, but again, she falls under the same umbrella as Sara to me. Granted, you're a RIka fan, i'm sure you can find something and fill in the blanks. The term used for her in EoSD is 氷精, which replaces the first character in 妖精 (fairy, which it shares with youkai) with that of "ice", while PCB just straight up uses 妖怪, which ZUN previously used for Rumia.
Plus, Cirno actively talks about fairies in Reimu's route, so the logical reading is just "ice fairy" for her first appearance.

I really don't know what ZUN was thinking in PCB where Cirno is involved.
Plus, he removed her demo sprite which gave her a cute sash, which can never be forgiven.

I've been forgetting to mention, but on the topic of that conversation we had last thread about trying to get the PC-98 style, it seems that the anon who I mentioned had been working on a LoRA has finally released it to the public, so I guess he's doing well after all, that's good to know.
I gave the LoRA a try myself and it's pretty good, the consistency's way better than I was expecting it to be, not to mention the style's pretty close, beats whatever it was I was trying to do with all those style tags back then that's for sure. The only odd thing I noticed is that it gens a lot, and I mean a LOT of 4-fingered hands for some reason, makes me feel like I'm back in the SD1.5 days for some reason. Usually this wouldn't be a problem but I actually find it harder to manually correct stuff on a pixelated artstyle rather than my usual one since I think it's probably best not to even upscale this sort of image.

Are you experimenting with your style? The lighting/texturing looks a bit different from usual but that could just be style bleed from the Mizuchi LoRA, had some issues with this guy's stuff before (assuming you're using RDMPrompt's). In fact if anything the only thing this image brings in to the table beyond primal instincts is the difficulty that is depicting and finding the right accuracy for muscular lower bodies. Abs are pretty much perfect, arms are already a step up and could use help from a LoRA in the making of the image if you really wanna show them off, but legs? I don't think there's even a tag for muscular legs, and outside of 0% body fat hyper muscular thighs, I find the process to be difficult, and i'm not confident or knowledgeable enough in anatomy to even attempt to doodle shit. It's not impossible but for something so simple I find it weirdly finnicky.
Don't throw Mike under the bus like that, she has a really cool backstory in her omake of being an outcast among maneki-neko with a bit of an attitude that ultimately got her rejected, which resulted in her powers growing wrong and being borderline useless as a maneki-neko, so she's emancipated from that life, and seems happy with it. She's absolutely worth a doujin.
...But yeah, these scenarios aren't the easiest to convey, are crowd reliant which I find annoying, and are better suited to writing. I don't think she's anyone's favorite ITT or high enough to commit to trying to do an origin story doujin for her or something.

Funny enough, the idea has been floating around since I first saw your request, but it was only this recent time seeing it did I finally get off my ass and rewatch the seasons while working on this composition.

This is on top of doing it all from my steam deck via remoting into the WebUI hosted on my main desktop as I'm away from it for the week and a half.

Overall, was a fun workflow, hardest bits (aside from the background.) is just trying to get Johnny to look decent and not too anime, disney lookin', or a blonde polnareff from JJBA. Especially the pompadour.

I've got more ideas with Bravo, although time will tell if I deliver.

Adetailer is just automatic masked inpainting. If you can't get it to pick up a detail, just use inpaint the area manually and tag the details and use low/med denoise.

if you're trying to gen crowds of specific characters, depending on how big it is, I'd probably just gen the characters individually and then crop them in together and mask it over with inpaint at low/med denoise at original res.

if you're trying for generic crowds, might have to suck it up if it's a big crowd and just not handfuls of mobs. Might be worth trying masked inpaint regardless + detail tagging to allow the model to refine it at a focused resolution.

I went for the worst possible combo: a crowd of several characters, all wearing the same clothes, all with the exact same hair color and they're all partly behind one-another aside from like, 3 of them at the direct front.

I did tag wolf print (surprised that tag even exists, honestly) and got a decent T2I result but the I2I+ADetailer seems to have smudged it up, honestly I didn't pay attention to that part of the gen in particular when it was done, I forgot I was using that as a tag... again, it's a mix of being lazy, tired and kind of in a rush to get back to working on this 19-person nightmare gen.

You can try toned_female and adjust the tag intensity as you see fit, depending on the model it might work or not. I had a few other gens before this one where the legs had some noticeable muscle, but I went with this one because I way preferred the pose. Picrel is a raw T2I gen I did to test out the dress before I added any pose tags or the wolf_print tag and you can see her legs ended up looking pretty fit.

For images with multiple subjects I keep the ADetailer and I2I processes strictly seperate, I first I2I the whole image and then I inpaint each girl at 0 denoise masked-only basically as a way of making it so that the ADetailer only applies to her, and I also have my ADetailer set to use the same Checkpoint and image generation parameters as my I2I checkpoint. I really don't know why it looks different but it just does.

I think the problem might just be my artstyle, if I had clear outlines or flatter lighting or anything of the sort I could maybe make this work but the lack of it and the overall "faded edges" look my stuff tends to have (the bottom feathers on Sagume's wing here >>50701110, for example) just makes stuff start to morph into eachother when it's far away in a way that makes it impossible to upscale one character at a time. I really don't want to but I guess I will have to compromise and have much less characters in this gen, or at least not have them partly cover eachother up like this.

What I'd probably do then is the individual characters separate, GIMP/Photoshop/whathaveyou them together while using the layers to order them properly and then maybe give it a brush over with the 'blur' tool if you're trying for a 'background' feel. No inpaint needed probably.

Been super busy as of late so I haven't been able to do much in terms of genning but I did manage to squeeze in some work into a Valentine's Day image (just not posted here) and another project I wanted to try out.

Thought I take a stab at making an cover parody so I chose an album I really wanted to do which was also fairly simple overall, but in a different style. Cirno and the two creatures were genned and sent through gemini to get that cutout style while I did everything else in the image in photoshop. I tried using QWEN but it just wasn't consisted enough, maybe poor prompting on my part? My wordplay isn't the best so I just kept it simple to get some sort of theme going.

That was going to be my last resort, long story short there's some other factors within the image itself that would make that really hard, and also there's the issue of angle + lighting ending up looking inconsistent. I feel a little stupid getting this upset over a single image but this has been so demoralizing lol, I've had this idea for weeks now, have been working on it for days, and have just been stuck at this single step now. I don't think the prompt would do you much good as the actual method for getting multiple characters into the image had nothing to do with it. I first genned each Shanghai individually (T2I, same prompt for all of them too) and then edited them all onto the same background before I2I upscaling the whole thing at like, 0.2 denoise. The only thing I added to the prompt on the upscale (besides background-related tags) were the multiple_girls and behind_another tags.

Is there anything more to getting coherent, goodlooking backgrounds than to just grab concept Loras and inpaint a lot until things look proper? For example, trying to gen doorway povs never gives me an actually good doorway or a passable door even, that is both with and without Loras for doorways and / or bedrooms. I haven't bothered a lot with inpainting yet because things are so fucked that it would take a long time to manually fix, so I thought I better ask if there is another way to get better bgs from the getgo. Using ReForge and WAI13.
I've also been checking Civit for potentially golden methods and extensions, but I haven't found anything groundbreaking just in general.

What I've been doing usually is either just do a "no humans, bedroom/outdoors,yadda yadda" type gen wide shot and roll the dice until I get something I can work with and crop and edit as needed.

or trawl the booru for generic game cgs or other shots and saving that, chucking it into img2img and rolling off of that.

Tends to work often enough, since it was what I did for the johnny bravo gen and the Reisen room barging in gen from last thread.

You could try upscaling with ai (either something like waifu2x or just standard upscaling with "no humans, greyscale"), but that won't make the image that much better. From there you could convert it to a vector (manually or not, but if not you'll want to modify the vector anyway) if you want it to be perfect. Picrel is my quick result with Suika's sigil.

It put my PATIENCE to the test, if anything. The model wasn't really tested all that much, all things considered, unless you mean my (failed) limit tests that made me resort to just editing the whole thing together the way I did.

Many, many things, but one of them was having each girl be in the exact place I wanted her to be at in the final gen before I2I upscaling her.
...I did also manually adjust the lighting on the girls themselves using the gradient color feature on photoshop, though. Both on the T2I gen and the final I2I.

Only if the denoise is too high, 0.15-ish is generally okay for minimal change.

Vectors scale infinitely without pixelation so you can have as fine details as you want and can have the image as large as you want, though this probably isn't needed unless you're very picky or want it to be very big.

Neat inner colored hair that's the other sister's hair color, and I love the music note earrings. Speaking of shilling for girls as I did above, I wholeheartedly recommend Yatsuhashi as a good luck charm of sorts, giving her alternate costume tends to try and mold the shirt & ribbon pattern onto whatever piece of cloth you decide to put her on. I always overdo it on purpose whenever I manually add body freckles onto her and the AI STILL gets rid of them, which is double-confusing considering there are times when it just gens them from the get-go in both T2I and I2I.
I'll give it a try by the way, though I've had bad experiences with inconsistent skintone/lighting whenever I inpaint stuff *after* the final upscale with my style.

Kind of. Freckles tend to be too fine of an element to resolve correctly at full image resolutions. So you end up with them smeared into big patches, blended into flat skin tone, stretched into hair lines; sure you know what I'm referring to. This resultant mess is also more of a pain to edit/inpaint, since SDXL struggles with "noisy" input. Give it the full res, zoomed in window on some cleanly edited-on dark spots, though, and it gets the cue much easier.

That's business as usual. Lower the strengths of your style LORAs/tags or, better yet, type yourself up a style preset specifically for inpainting. Maybe up the mask padding/blur, too. Some colour shift is inevitable, but you can make the transition smoother.

Honestly the more I think about it, Starfucks should just be a joint effort by the fairies, I mean think about it, Luna handles the coffee, Sunny handles the milk, Star handles the, uhh... "marketing".

What do you reccomend for blur in particular? I always do 4 for blur and 216 for padding. Isn't padding just "how much around the inpainted area does your model see?" though? Like, you use it to give it context for the rest of the gen?

My settings for detailing have been the same forever: 20 blur, 32 padding, 0.2-0.25 denoise, 1344x1344 resolution. 20 blur smooths things out well and is largely hassle free, provided you don't put the edge of the mask right along a solid outline. It does exacerbate the haloing problem on solid colour backgrounds, mind, but inpaint does that anyway, and the degunk script exists. So yeah.

Colloquially. Technically, it extends the masked area by X pixels behind the scenes before passing it to the model. Now, don't quote me on this, since I'm not 100% positive, but having it THAT high may be cutting into your generation resolution budget. That - or it increases the resolution by the same value; I'm really not qualified to say. The padded area is excluded from being pasted back into the result in any case, so you're doing up to so many pixels more for basically no return each and every time whichever way the calculations go. This may or may not bother you - but there it is.
Anyhow. What padding is supposed to do is provide immediate context. For example, that this line right here doesn't terminate at the edge of the mask and goes on in that direction, so it shouldn't be re-rolled as, say, an edge. That kind of thing. SDXL doesn't require all that many extra pixels to get the cue. Should be safe to stay within 64px.

I did already try a few Rika gens, at first I toyed around with giving her small breasts at least (since they grow a bit during pregnancy) but that honestly didn't look that good so flat it is.
By the way, maybe off-topic but while we're talking about aging Rika up, I dont' really headcanon Rika as being thaaat young, she's no lolibaba but I'd put her in her early twenties, she just has an underdeveloped body. Definitely not a loli in the literal meaning of the word.

Didn't notice until you pointed it out, definitely has to do with that turtleneck and the sidelock bow. Tagging mandarin_collar and making the sidelock a little longer might've helped, but hindsight is 20/20. That's still really impressive for a no-LoRA gen of Orange.

If I understood you correctly, honestly for me it just varies as I've genned her with both before. Looks-wise I *way* prefer the blunt ends but I have NO idea how you'd be able to explain that without implying that she has a hairstyle which looks *terrible* when she's not wearing the balls. Tucked in doesn't look too bad either from time to time though, and it is the option that makes the most sense.
