It would be 10x better after a complete overhaul but the retards afraid of change will never allow it.I can design a better system right now.-Mage classes can either start with or obtain a Grimoire with very limited slots that can be upgraded over time, you put spellbooks in it to reliably get those spells every day.-Spellbook drops are more rare and also start dropping with lower values on average. Shops included.-Books with higher uses give more spells each night, giving you more progression as a mage instead of just eating a thousand books.-Spellbooks can still be eaten to get more spells in an emergency or if you dont have a Grimoire, eating the books like this will give more spell uses than normal to make it less of a waste.-Spells you get from the grimoire can only stack up to a certain amount of uses depending on the quality of your spell books, the type of spell and your Memorization level.This would be more engaging, give better power progression and offer more player agency.

Honestly never found keeping spell stocks up to be that difficult of an endeavor outside of some that are just stupidly annoying to maintain like the moonlit arrows/spears. Only times I burn through books fast is if I'm going sword sage and throwing them on as talismans. Obtaining most defensive/utility spell stocks is a joke cause they often drop as staffs and the mana battery ether disease gives you incredibly generous returns.
