Most of the holidays are marked in red.
This week is spring break for schools, so that's probably part of it now.
May is Golden Week break. July around the start of summer break for schools, August is obon period where more people take time off work.
September is a bit of a special one. When there are two public holidays a day apart, the day between becomes a public holiday as well.
November doesn't have any holidays associated with it, but that is when the autumn colors will be out.
