>>50741095>>50741096Dude I could vibe code & gen pixel animations for a game in like a week, two tops, did anyone tell them to try that?
>>50741095Would you know if they're capable of communicating in English? I'm very experienced with Hisoutensoku and have developed a fighting game in the past, but the language barrier would be pretty hard to get over.
>>50739640Rather than a spiritual successor it looked like it was just a remake since they only showed characters already in Soku.>>50763775The game is going to be released in English, and these job listings as well as the offer for collaboration was posted in English. I'm gonna that they're equipped to speak with you in English and that you should just reach out.https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/3680470/view/529873418368059787?l=english
>>50763802I sent them a message. I'm not sure if I can take a full time job helping them but I'd be interested in helping the most I can, even if it's just for feedback.I am sort of interested to see what the game is like though. Yes it's clear that the game takes a lot of inspiration from Hisoutensoku for specific mechanics, but from the screenshots I think that the game itself is probably not going to play much like Hisoutensoku. That's not necessarily a bad thing but it does leave me very curious.
>>50765242Can you show the screenshots?
>>50774076I'm talking about the store page screenshots since I think that's pretty much everything we've seen. There's no real gameplay footage outside of the short gifs.https://store.steampowered.com/app/3680470/Touhou_Dream_Duel/The reason for what I said is that while you can tell the game has Hisoutensoku's cards, spirit orbs and even weather from the screenshots, the camera is a big give away that the gameplay will be different. Now maybe they really are just trying to copy Hisoutensoku 1:1 and they haven't figured it out yet, but the game doesn't have a dynamic camera yet. In Hisoutensoku, aside from the mechanics, what makes it very different from other fighting games is that you can fly. There's a lot of important nuances to how flight changes the game, but one of the most obvious implications of flight is that you can go upwards really high. In Hisoutensoku the camera moves and zooms dynamically to adjust for a character flying upwards so you can see both characters, which makes sense. In the screenshots shown and even one of the gifs showing Marisa getting kicked in the face, the camera isn't zooming in/out at all.Outside of assuming it just isn't programmed in yet, what that tells me is that flying in this game is going to be significantly different or limited compared to Hisoutensoku. Maybe you can't fly vertically or maybe flying doesn't exist at all and you just have airdashes. Either way it likely means extreme changes to gameplay since flying is an extremely important aspect in Hisoutensoku's gameplay both for beginners and competitive players. Also this clip of Yukari with this new move is extremely suspect too. If you put this attack in Hisoutensoku it would immediately qualify for the worst melee attack in the game. When you have a game where everyone is flying around, what purpose would you have for such a short, tiny move with a huge blindspot? Just compare it to Alice's 6a in Hisoutensoku for example which has a HUMONGOUS hitbox that's probably six times the size of this but is still considered a very awkward move. To be fair maybe the devs just suck at the idea of balancing a totally new move, but who knows. This evidence leads me to personally believe this game will play less like Hisoutensoku and honestly more like Guilty Gear Strive or maaaaybe Melty Blood (Not saying those would be inspirations, but just with movement more inline with those games), just with Hisoutensoku mechanics, rather than an actual Hisoutensoku "Clone". But hey maybe it's just because it's in development and they aren't showing off everything yet. Also just for the record I didn't get a response on my email. Feels bad.
