Hopes?Fears?Coming to visit at all?
I don't like the western 2hu fandom, is full of gays and closet gays.
>>50772987I feel this too but I'd take a larger than normal population of troons if it meant I got to talk to not only one but many people who also love TouhouI wonder sometimes if I'm the biggest fan of Touhou in my little county of 45k
>>50772992That's rough man.
Mario is close with ZUN, maybe he'll tell ZUN after this and ZUN will come next year too.Is Miko returning? Last year's concert was fantastic, this year's will be even better.
>>50772945Lots of good merch. I got this last year. The concert was cool too. It was just me so I didn't really participate in any of the events, people are pretty closed off. I think my sakuya fumo liked it too... although I dropped her on the ground at one point...
>>50772995These days I just bring my fumos places when I'm with my best friend sometimes (he doesn't judge for it and calls Touhous "magic girls" whenever I talk to him about it)
>>50772945>hopesthe con goes smoothly. i can host the /jp/ party without issue. enough alcohol>fearslow turnout. getting mistaken as battler from umineko a 3rd time>Coming to visit at all?already got my ticket and hotel
>>50772987Like FPBP said, this shit is embarrassing on top of being a major troon magnet.Plus it's in dogshit LA. Look at OP. Reading that official post is incredibly reddit in its faggot quirky chungus composition, on top of having to describe who the guy even is, which tells you everything about the people attending this crap.tl;dr: nuke this cringe secondary shit
>>50772987>>50773200You are about as bad as the trannies that show up to these things.
>50773407t. seething secondary attendee
>>50773200leave it to both trannies as well as mindbroken fags like you to shoehorn trannyshit into touhou at every opportunity>>50773414wow dude you didnt give him a (You) ebin ownage
>>50772945If an official poster feels the need to explain who a well known (or should be) creator is and then uses extraneous media to do so, that's not a good fucking sign.
>>50772999He's most likely going to the Reitaisai in Taiwan the same weekend as touhoufest. He's almost 50 anon, doubt he's wanting to take a 12hr one way flight to LA these days. Besides didn't he have a horrible time with the last touhou LA based convention or whatever it was that no one got paid for?
>>50773407I'd agree with you or at least give the benefit of the doubt here, if TouhouFest was held basically anywhere else aside from LA(or most west coast places). While I am not someone who lurks pol all day, I know that place is a special strain of faggotry. Given how many fans of the fandom have swelled in recent years, you know it's just going to be people who read some fanfic and want to go uwu and tell you their crackships.
>>50773784The con absolutely suffers from being located there, but even so it's not a total degen moshpit. This year will likely be the last time I'll bother going to see my american friends, maybe something pops up in the EU at some point but I wouldn't hold my breath.
>>50772987>>50773200Most part of JP fandom are already redditor-like and beatMARIO are responsible for inviting millions of underage secondaries from gacha collab or having Vtuber play Touhou.I've seen touhoufest video and it was full of gays and queers. It's clear that these events is for r/touhou.
>>50774322>I've seen touhoufest video and it was full of gays and queers. It's clear that these events is for r/touhou.Can you describe how did they look? I don't know how to detect queers. For me they all look the same.
>>50772945>HopesThat it's as good as last time>FearsThat they haven't changed the venue yet>Coming to visit at all?Got my pass as soon the very minute they went up for sale
>>50773553It's called an announcement you sperg.
>>50774423Detecting a queer isn't that different from detecting any other kind of person. What you're really looking for is the way they behave. The way one chooses to look is just one of many indicators. Sometimes it's obvious, other times it's more subtle, and sometimes not there at all. But it can extend to things like word choice, body language, etc. It all comes back down to behavior. But that's also why I wouldn't trust most of the people who are critical in here, to be honest. Every year there's always a lot of judgment in the first half of Touhoufest threads before the convention itself. The points about being cringe aren't wrong but they kind of fall apart when they're coming from people who are clearly afraid to make mistakes in the first place.
>>50774848Before some time ago, I never noticed how much the Touhou fandom has queers. In Reddit, Twitter, Discord and YouTube they are like, 100% noticeable and 90% of the fanbase. I have this internal meme where Naruto is the yaoi fandom and Touhou is the yuri one.
I wish I could hang out in real life with people who share my interests. I've never gotten to.
>>50774786They wouldn't need to describe who the guy is if this event was for actual fans instead of the reddit secondary target audience, my dear faggot nigger.
>>50774875Someone who goes to a festival and actually interacts with the medium is more of a primary than some faggot on an imageboard whining about a jpg having too many words.
>>50774858Funny enough, Touhou's western fandom didn't use to be so openly queer. I think that's naturally just the result of LGBT stuff being more accepted with time. Touhou itself being very nerdy just means that its fanbase isn't as restrictive for the most part when it comes to social norms (though like any nerd series following, this can go both ways).>>50774860What's stopping you this year, finances?
Can I get a timeline of all the jap touhou events for the year? When it's reitaisai anyway?
>>50773747I don't think ZUN was at Touhoucon? Not that I've heard anyway. You might be mistaking Touhoucon with Anime Weekend Atlanta
>>50774928>just the result of LGBT stuff being more accepted with timeAlmost every fandom has an incredible amount of queers now. Specially ones of this style (cute anime girls/boys)
>>50774931Japan Reitaisai is usually at the end of golden weekReitaisai Taiwan is same week as US 2hufestFall Reitaisai is usually 2 weeks before halloweenThere are a few others spread all over, IIRC there is a similar touhou market in Osaka around June or July
>>50774916Spoken like a true xitter troon secondary
>>50774941Yeah that's kinda my point. The more nerdy something is, the less reason there generally is to be concerned with how you come off. Not to say queer people are innately less "normal" than cishet, but there's a lot more of them that are vocally more alt/on the fringe.Really though I would say a lot of Touhoufest is more nerdy than it is queer. There are a lot of LGBT people for sure, but you kind of can't most of them apart from a person who's just cosplaying for the love of the game.
>>50774875What would you have written instead?
I assume we're doing a /jp/ meetup again this year. I wasn't the person who organized it last year but I'd like if he did it again desu
>>50775018Just the name of the guy after "guest of honor". But of course then the zoomer secondary twitter/reddit audience this even is for wouldn't know who that is. Stop being disingenuous.
>>50775059Wasn't it the opposite?Thought it was the organizers who don't know shit about Touhou, and are just in for the money
>>50775059You know it's extremely common for guest announcements to do that whether people would know the guest or not
>>50775073Anon no offense but you're being retarded if you believed that
>>50775073The organizers know a lot about 2hu and the 2hu fandom, what they don't have is a project manager, planner lead, or organizational director. They are all just kind of community helpers that were volunteers at other events, this led to the first 2-3 years of it being EXTREMELY shitty in communications, people getting told 5 different things for 3 different people, parts of the events being left questioned till the day of for vendors and attendees. I know some who basically felt like unless you knew mikotan directly it was a completely different con experience in enjoyment.Given everything has been moved to blusky I don't really care enough to follow much on it.
>>50775051i'll try my best, but it's tricky. leaning towards friday night like last timealso learn mahjong
>>50772945>hopesthe con goes well>fearshot weather and too many people>Coming to visit at all?yep. i'm looking forward to buying stuff and meeting peoplehope i don't spend too much this year and i hope i can make it to the /jp/ meetup if it happens
I will be living large once again
The thought of meeting some of you faggots irl makes me cringe in disgust so the fact that you are actually holding a /jp/ meetup sounds incredibly gay and retarded. Plus bullshit like this >>50775544 where food costs 15 dollars, dealing with secondaries, xitter troons, and other vermin? Just fuck my shit up senpaiDeath to goym*rica, Glory to Nippon
uh oh anons watch out. we have a CHAD in the thread
It's already hot in California despite it still being winter technically, I'll still try to cosplay in June though.>>50774860Come meet anon this year!>>50774875Secondaries already know who beatmario is, you're just being argumentative for no reason. And describing the circles who come to Touhoufest on their website is just a formality. Don't get yourself worked up over it.
>>50775425Unexpectedly it also turns out some of us will be roommates this year. What a coincidence.I'll also try and remember how to play Mahjong for when we got nothin to do and are just bullshittin around. Though to be honest I'm very active at events so the chances of me sitting down for that long are slim. But I'll try to find time this year.
>>50775544Where were they selling these?
>>50772945>Coming to visit at all?Yup! Haven't missed a single one yet, so I'll be there again as long as things go as planned. It's also really nice getting to interact with other Anons who share the same interests.>Hopes?I'd like to see more PC-98 stuff being sold again. Gotta love being able to find merch of even the most obscure characters.>Fears?Nothing in particular. Maybe that things get *too* packed this time around that Beatmario's showing up. Last year really showed that the venue's capacity is really starting to hit the limit. Even after they restructured the vendor hall to the other building, it still got packed as hell in there and the line got real big at times.
>>50772945It's incredulous to me some YTP maker has become a celebrity. It'd be like going to a convention to see Walrusguy.I'd go to a convention to see Walrusguy
>>50776188I'd go to one to see krobo
>>50776033Taco truck next to the poutine truck. I wonder if they had touhou poutine
>>50776412>touhou poutineWho is the most Canadian 2hu? Perhaps Momiji...
>>50776445I think they're better off with a pun. The best one I could think of is Scarlet Weather Rhaspoutine
>>50772945>california
hell yeah I'm going to this because this is the only decently-sized touhou event I can ever visit. californians are faggy as fuck but conventions are great no matter what sour grapes fags will tell you.I've never been to the /jp/ meetup, since I typically attend with an irl friend, so what can I expect if I join you guys this year? do you just roam the event together all 2-3 days? what about after-hours?
>>50777028Somehow, everything you seem to be hoping for worked out last year. It was a small meetup, everyone got to know each other and roaming and after-houring together happened.I'm not enough of a social butterfly to know exactly how we did it, and if we can reliably do it again this year.
The point of 4chan is to be anonymous. Meeting up and putting a face to the people you post with online is lame as fuck and you could never post here again without knowing exactly who you're responding to, which defeats the whole purpose.
>>50777507Sounds like generals
>>50777507Yes I'm sure it's 7 posters carrying the entirety of this board and that you can tell exactly who is who every time from one weekend of hanging out with them
>>50777028>so what can I expect if I join you guys this year? do you just roam the event together all 2-3 days? what about after-hours?So me personally, I jumped around a lot in between different groups. So I can only tell you based on the hour or two I spent on the /jp/ meetup. My impression was that it was a pretty normal con group. A little socially awkward but definitely well meaning and willing to open up over shared enthusiasm. I think they just roamed around together as groups at cons usually tend to? Though people barely stick together on day 1 for obvious reasons. Some of us are rooming with Mahjong this year though. And one thing I can say for sure is that your impression of a group can definitely change when you room with them. I roomed with Soku players last year and they were audacious in a way I wouldn't really expect of the standard Touhou fan. Which was entirely for the better to be honest. I expect people to show more of their true colors as 4chan posters the more we get comfortable just talking around each other.
>>50777578The true 4channer is a lone wolf through and through. Imagine calling yourself anon and walking around like a cuck with a group instead of doing what you want and checking out what you want by yourself, when you want. I can already sense the seethe in the replies from you faggots who would downvote this post if you could.
>>50777578>rooming>roomedHoly reddit desu ne
>>50777628this coming from the guy who's been seething for the entire thread that /jp/ is going to be having fun without him. you're actually nonchalant and cool as a cucumber, I'm sure. and damn, the captcha is getting even more convoluted every day huh?
>>50777696Nice projection faggot lmao
>>50777628Yeah but I'm not a "true" 4channer in the sense there's no good reason anyone would have to make a website their personality>>50777642Rooming was a concept well before the internet you dumb samefag
>>50777750>Yeah but I'm not a "true" 4channerTrust me, it's evident. Hope your subreddit and twitter like the epic postings
>>50777760Not that I go there but it would still be preferable to fighting for a niche imageboard culture that collapsed on itself years ago
"true" 4chan had meet-ups and namefags too, so it's not even a culture that collapsed in on itself, more like a culture that he has misremembered intentionally. regardless there's no point in continuing to feed the troll
>>50777819Namefags and meetups have always been mercilessly bullied, newnigger. But thanks for proving that this faggy event is solely for the vtubing and secondary audience that doesn't know shit about the game or culture kek. We should have gatekept harder
>>50776412That reminds me a lot of back when I went to Anime North back in 2015 and all the hotels and restaurants were doing the same barebones advertising. Just slapping on a mention of something anime on the name of their menu items and the food itself having nothing to actually do with anime. But honestly I kinda loved that. Even if the gesture is bare it gave the impression that the people in charge at least kind of tried even in their own small way to pay attention. It felt sorta homely.
There was an anon who posted in last year's thread saying he'd try and table this year as an artist. Is that anon here? Did he make it?
>>50777874you're not supposed to actually fall for the lazy marketing trick lol. that being said, I know how it feels to lose your good financial judgment when a character you like is plastered onto something
>>50777922Never said I bought any of it. Quit projecting
>>50777927
>>50777939It's okay anon I forgive you
>>50777696You sound exactly like that yoyo guy from the skydrift threads
>>50777874>>50777922I totally bought them. I guarantee you those guys in that truck had no idea what touhou even was. They were pretty good for what its worth

>>50772987I mean to be fair there was some gay shit going on. I think they held a seminar on like gay touhou lore or something idunno gay off I didnt go
Assuming someone is going to bring Mahjong to the /jp/ room this year then I might as well repost the how-to-play guide I wrote last year. Gonna make some changes to make it just a little easier to understand as well:Mahjong is a 4-player game is dealt a hand of 13 tiles. When it's a player's turn, they draw 1 tile and then have to discard 1 (with the choice to discard the tile they just drew included). The victory condition for each round is to have a winning hand (a.k.a. a specific combination of tiles that let you win) before the other players. Or at least the best hand before the tiles that can be drawn for that round run out.As players discard their tiles in a rotation, other players can pick them up (and it has to be the last tile that was specifically played as a discard). You can do this under two conditions:1. It completes a triplet (3 of the exact same tile)2. It completes a sequence (3 tiles of the same suit you count up, 1-2-3, 6-7-8, etc. 1-2-3 all bamboo suit is valid, bamboo-1 circle-2 kanji-3 is no good). Note that tiles to complete a sequence can only be picked up if it's from a player to your left. Also more important to note that if you pick up a discarded tile to complete either a triplet or sequence, you have to put those three tiles out in the open to your right side. It skips to your turn in the rotation if you do this, and you have to discard one tile in trade after. But because doing this reveals part of what was in your hand, this is what we call an open hand.Open hands dictate what kind of winning hands you're able to afford for that round. All winning hands are valid if your hand is fully closed. Some are invalid if you have an open hand, at the cost of being easier to form others since you're using discarded tiles to help reach victory faster.Generally speaking the harder a winning hand is to get, and the more conditions you meet to get it, the more points you accrue if you win a round. You don't have to memorize all the combinations. Just have a chart on hand and know which yaku (winning hands) are easiest to get(1/3)
>>50778305Easiest yaku to go for are:-All Simples (can be done with open hand): A pair and the rest of your hand is triplets or sequences without 1s, 9s, and non-numbered tiles-Yakuhai (also can be done with open hand): Three of the same color dragon tiles, Wind tile of your seat (i.e. you're south, 3 south tiles work, north and west don't), or 3 East tiles (works universally) in your hand. The rest is 1 pair and triplets/sequences of any kind-Fully closed hand that's just 1 pair and triplets/sequences of any kind (only works when fully closed)If you get a winning hand as the player on a certain one of four seats (the east seat) you keep that seat and prolong the game for the chance to accrue more points. If you get a winning hand as someone not of the east-seat, the seats are forced to rotate. The game ends when each player has lost their east-seat or someone falls into negative points.Since we're gonna be playing offline, it's mandatory to know how and when you can say certain terms to call something-Chii: When you take the last discarded tile from the player to your left to complete a sequence-Pon: When you take the last discarded tile from any player to complete a triplet-Kan: When you take the last discarded tile from any player to complete a quadruplet because fuck them I guess-Ron: When you take the last discarded tile from any player to complete a winning hand-Riichi (closed hand only): When you're in tenpai and you bet 1000 points you'll get a winning hand before the round is over and before others get their own winning hand (big payoff in return)-Tsumo: When you draw a tile yourself that gets you a winning handTerms that you don't have to call but are good to know anyway:-Tenpai: When you're 1 tile away from a winning hand-Dora: A specific tile randomly selected to be worth more points that particular round(2/3)
>>50778305>>50778311I'd personally recommend playing Mahjong Soul and just trying to go for the easiest yaku I listed in the post before. That aside, the real issue with playing Mahjong offline is score calculation. It's a bunch of convoluted formulas that can span a half hour at minimum to explain fully. We're not here to compete, but the scoring helps to balance the game to not make easier yaku worth too much, so I've come up with a very simplified ruleset for us:-Everyone starts with 10 points-Closed hands are worth 5 points-Open hands are worth 5 minus however many sequences or triplets you have open-Person who loses to Ron has to pay 2 points-Person who gets Tsumo takes 3 points from everyone else-Any yaku that isn't the easy 3 I listed are worth 10 pointsAlso, despite Dora tiles being a normal part of Mahjong, we'll omit them just to save a bunch of headaches on extra counting.(3/3)
>>50778305>>50778311>>50778354much appreciated. i've gotta get to learning asap
>beatmario is comingwhat from him should i listen to before going? huge discography
>>50772945Being in California makes it almost as expensive as actually going to Reitaisai. But I guess there wouldn't be enough people for a dedicated Touhou event in other states.
>>50779093sad for non burgers
>>50778995It's because he has such a huge discography that I don't think there's any "real" essentials aside from the most popular stuff. Unless someone in here would like to correct me on that.
>>50779980>>50778995Save me Eirin is like THE beatmario song.
>>50772945If it wasn't across the entire fucking country I might make an effort.
>>50780761This, and we'll also probably hear Night of Nights and the UN Owen remix
>>50777507Most 4chan 2hu meets are fun.Touhoufest is a good con, if you don't want to deal with the flight overseas or other bullshit for a one day event. I think Mikotan and his group does a fair job encapsulating it into like 2.5ish days? idk there are always after parties and stuff on day 0. My biggest issue with it is just the location, it just seems like a "well it's close by" for the leadership rather than a place like texas or some BS place, ain't no one taking the fucking LGB airport way lmao or get the "why americans don't use public transportation" shit.My advice for going, as someone who went:-it's california...-bring cash for vendors-stock your room with booze ain't no good bar around unless you like drinking at circle k-there are a lot of gay people, yes the konata OwO im wearing a dress so I am a girl, is a real thing you can be fugly and still get yo dick sucked-kinda shuts down early(ish) compared to other cons but room parties exist see above-lot of rare cosplay there compared to other US cons-if you hat fans of the fandom eh hate to break it to you but there is a lot of it-it's california so yeahall in all the admin has their hearts in it, I just kinda wish and echo the same viewpoints as others; I kinda wish they would hire some third party that doesn't give a shit about the 2hu fandom and focuses on running/promoting the event as an impartial thing. I get mikotan pours his heart into it but man sometimes the best engineers need to at least enjoy their creations. all in all I think most people try to just make the best of it and have a good time, best of luck to those anons going I'll be on the wrong side of the planet at the other 2hu event
>>50773553>signthe sign is fine, believe me if you can read Japanese go to an event in japan everything is stated like 25 times about what things are and who people are. They ain't renting out tokyo big sight, it's fine. >>50777819most the 4chan meetups, specifically the jp ones are fun. They usually are at tokyo big sight by red saw, then we go party afterwards. Honestly the only weird ones are germans because for some ill reason they figure "ah yes the bar is the best part to break how remilia scarlet is only 9001 years old in this bikini" kinda shit. most people I've met at least have jobs so we just talk about life/work/family/etc. to be completely honest the worst times I have with jp and touhou are in america because for some reason everything is now political and you can't just shitpost memes or tell other secondaries to git good.
>>50780877>-there are a lot of gay people, yes the konata OwO im wearing a dress so I am a girl, is a real thing you can be fugly and still get yo dick suckedshit like this is a compromise and gay people are known to cause chaos because they think with their dicks, it's hard to get into these events as a straight person because it's full of these weirdosit's one of the reasons western 2hu cons tend to have the most scandals in comparison to jap cons
>>50780928>tfw not gay>tfw taking my gay coworker to a con because he likes the music of 2hu from the brony guy>yeah man it at least smells better than a smash64 tournament>if okuu shot dicks through ger gaybeem arm that's what a touhou meetup is like in the USA>tfw he goes "are you sure you ain't gay everyone wants to suck your dick maybe I should try larping as a breeder and wear a dress">it's one of the reasons western 2hu cons tend to have the most scandals in comparison to jap consIDK about that but the #1 most annoying thing is hands down is politics I remember when you could go haha momiji trump hat funni wolf girl lol and not be called a racist sexist homopobic nazi. Like at least in Singapore I can make jokes about being a retard.
>>50780944i've never been to a 2hu con myself but I've been to anime cons alone or with friends, our cons were mostly chill because the ratio of female cosplayers were like 5:1 compared to the guys (who mostly cosplayed as anime guys, maybe some rare male to female cosplay played for laughs) now that was a while ago and now seems like the ratio changed and there's more male cosplayers pretending to be little girls and acting all cute and shit and putting a lot of effort trying to pass as girls, which has lead to lots of scandals regarding underage gay orgies, STDs, drunk gay shenanigans, gay prostitution, you name it, i don't know the reason, but it's something it's been increasing through the yearsOne of the reasons why i've stopped going to cons myself, i wanted none of that shit, i can see these types of 2hu cons having the same things, especially when im lurking the threads here in /jp/, in the end it all comes down to gay sex and having an excuse to do it
>>50780975also forgot pic lolpretty much this sums up interacting with modern anime/vidya fans, you could be talking about okuu as a character and if you suddenly touch the topic of her tits these guys go all"haha imagine if I had tits dude, like imagine if i did you paizuri haha wouldn't that be funny bro?"not as straightforward as this but you get the idea
>>50780975most are funI work overseas so going to events on the weekends are a good motivator to go to the gym and what not. Most gymbro's in Japan like 2hu so it's kinda fun to be at the gym at 4am and hear sakuya's theme play. I just want to go back to when the fandom was haha funny icy fairy say baka, banger music, and the games weren't kinda samey. No offense to zun but he needs to really put a slapper down for his 50th, we need mima back bros>>50780981hot take but I think a lot of bronies moved over with Aone, his beats slap don't get me wrong, but it's weird that the fandom got xbox huge the second mlp winded down.
>>50777507I have to agree with this closet homo.
Outside of occasions discussing Touhoufest, I have never once read a post on this site and gone "aha, that's So-And-So-Anon that I met!" You dinguses are making it out to be a bigger thing than it is.
>>50781071sorry newfag, a lot of us oldfags, specifically jp and in japan, are still around and doing 4chan meets. Free to join at comiket or reitaisai, meetup is always at redsaw after the event.kanpai! need more booze
>>50780928I think that's overstating it. Every now and then you'll find extremely gay people who can't be normal about their sexuality, but that's not a being gay problem. Most of the con in reality is just exactly that: a standard con. People aren't looking to hook up on a whim just because you look slightly attractive, and trust me, a lot of these people wouldn't have the guts to in the first place. Especially not zoomers. Cons in general just aren't as sexed up as they used to be, outside of major party ones like Dragoncon.
>>50781081NTA but you seem to have misunderstood him
>>50781094>I think that's overstating it. Every now and then you'll find extremely gay people who can't be normal about their sexuality, but that's not a being gay problemif kigurumi didn't exist I would agree with you
>>50781094I don't know man, the /jp/ threads I've lurked before said a different story
>>50781095you're right had a bit much to drink enough internet for the night
I just hope there are no drugs at the /jp/ meetup, hate that shit.
>>50781099I mean that in the sense that, statistically, there's not much more degeneracy at major cons than there are events like Touhoufest.>>50781106We've only had one thread in the past.

>>50781321I don't think people would take offense for thinking they're NOT junkies.
There's way more activity in this thread compared to last year and the con is still only 3 months away. Good sign for interest
>>50781403I think most people now give it more credit after not imploding(so much) as other 2hu events, there is still some BS on blusky about muh hekkin trans rights and how no yuyuko is actually a symbol of LGBT which I will never find unfunny given her lore.
>>50781437It's not something that uncommon now, is it?Media illiterate outsiders calling suicides/mental unwellness a queer allegory. It feels like it's done ironically, even though it's clearly not
>>50780981>pretty much this sums up interacting with modern anime/vidya fans, you could be talking about okuu as a character and if you suddenly touch the topic of her tits these guys go all>"haha imagine if I had tits dude, like imagine if i did you paizuri haha wouldn't that be funny bro?"Anon this has never happened to me, you must be radiating homo energy or activating these guy's gaydar or somethingg.
>>50781491NTA but some people just don't know how to act. I'm a pervert, but even I know when to put a fucking lid on it.
Should I go to this? I went to Touhoucon back in the day and have met ZUN before but am so out of the loop now with the series
>>50781715if it doesn't hurt your wallet too much, go for it. you might end up getting back into touhou
>>50780819i hope we'll hear LaserMari is Not Difficult!
>>50781715it's not a huge convention so I wouldn't say it's a must-go. for me I'm only going because there's no way I can possibly attend any other touhou events
>>50781732That's a good one too
any cosplays you all are hoping to see other than the usual characters (reimu, sakuya, etc.)?i'd love to see a hieda, kosuzu, or rinnosuke cosplay this year
>>50781876Kogasa and Chimata, there were one each two years ago when I last went. Was too autistic to even properly compliment them when I asked for images and felt bad for it.
>>50781876there was a really cute Yuuma cosplayer (female) two years ago. I really wish I had had the guts to ask for a picture
>>50781958>>50782012let's try to be brave this year anons
>>50781491like I said, it's not as straightfoward as that, but they are still uncomfortable to be around
>>50781491Betting 100% that anon is terminally online>>50781715If you have enough a passion or interest then any type of fan is welcome. There was an extremely good Kaguya cosplayer last year who stopped following around 12 so you wouldn't even be the only one to have been "out of it" for a while.>>50781769Ironically I'd say the opposite. I think it's a must-go if you're a Touhou fan because a lot of the most major cons these days are soulless. They're not what they used to be which makes any con with a more focused "niche" or vibe (i.e. MAGFest, TooManyGames) the ones actually worth going to.>>50781958>>50782012If you don't have any intentions beyond just asking for pictures and complimenting then it's okay to come across a little uncomfortable. It's a Touhou convention. People are going to come across wrong and socially awkward all the time. Hell, I'll be your wingman for this if I can.
I have been convinced. I will go this year. I wanted to go the last couple of times but I didn't know how it was going to turn out.
>>50784971It's a lot of fun. Meeting /jp/ and the concerts were the highlight of the con for me.
And be around a bunch of fat Americans wearing multiple layers in peak California summer? What do you cocksuckers even talk about there?
>>50787079I know this is hard to imagine for someone who's deathly afraid of his own social retardation but you can talk about anything with others with enough common interest and reason to
>>50772945I dont live in the US.
Fair amount of undesirables, still a decent amount of people I do fuck with there too. I just hate the organizers for reasons I can only be vague on other than say, they really enable some absolute retards.
>>50787433vague
I have one goal... acquire more merchandise of my mom Eirin
>>5077299245k? So which one are you? All of these are pretty based if I do say so myself thoughbeit
My 2 cents on this year 2hufest and future ones as someone who have attended all of them, this year's one is gonna be so ass! Same weekend as the the Fifa World Cup in LA (mikotan is a fucking idiot lol), so hotels are ungodly expensive and if you think traffic is bad in Hell Angeles already. I personally know people who have canceled already due to that reason. Besides the quality of the con has went down hill drastically. There is nothing to do at the con if you really think about it, just spergy troony tards screaming about fumos. Secondary as far as the eyes can see. The community there is full of internet micro celerbities who love circlejerking each other with their shitty dropshipped cosplays.I really have no intrestes in 2hufest anymore due to the lack of quality controll the organizers put in, its going to be so ass this year dont waste your time and money on this dumpster fire lol>tldr touhoufest fell off
>>50788967Nice self-report
>>50788967I can imagine all those faggot xitter/youtube secondaries will attend to "make content" for their equally faggot audience, everything being expensive, and the usual cringe retardation from american pseudo otakus, but I cannot expect anything else from what's basically Secondary: the event
hotels didnt even cost more this year you larptard
anyone who only sees secondaries is a sperg who doesn't know how or try to talk to people irl. there's game tournaments there and lots of setups with touhou games on them, talk to people there>>50789791nta but they do cost more this year. con block doesn't though.when rooms for best western opened up, they were ~200 a night which is the usual price. a month later they became >400 a night and still are. howard johnson and extended stay are also jacked up in price by 50-100%.it's fair to say that a lot of people can't make it this year due to price of hotels and plane tickets.
>>50790009>talk to peopleIs about as useful advice as>bee ur self
I think I will go but I will not go to any afterparties
>>50790077The point is there's no reason for someone to criticize others if even knowing how to talk to them is a challenge
Just saw the youmu sticker I got last year on aliexpress whoooops
>>50789612We get it you're an uppity poorfag who's deluded 1ccs and old 4chan will fix his life problems
>>50787282Well I for one want to be surrounded by men and not a bunch of faggot ass cornholing cocksuckas posting in this thread. They should fucking die!
I wish I could go to things like this and have fun.
>>50790265Save up desu
>>50790364I couldn't possibly, and besides that I'm just a hideous person.
>>50776188he'll talk your ear off about minky momo and 80s dinosaur movies and then he'll molest you like he did that one lady at adult swim
>>50790382Touhoufest is the last place that would care about your looks so long as you take care of yourself
>>50790574>so long as you take care of yourself I don't.
Insane how retards itt save up and spend a small fortune of their amerishekels for this shitty ass event in shitty ass LA when they could actually go to an actual Touhou con in Japan for a fraction of that cost
>>50790766Reitaisai is boring. Also you suck at math
>LAnot even in LA retard
>>507907662k is not a small fortune.
I dont know if Ill ever go to touhoufest but it made 2hufags in my country make our own 2hu event and it is growing a bit larger each year
>>50790814hell yeah
>>50790814Nice. You able to drop a name for it?
>>50790766Good job, you just became the most retarded shitposter in this thread so far.
I'm jealous...! I want to go! But I can't... I have too many responsibilities IRL.
I’m curious what the turnout here is gonna be like. Feel free to vote if you’re gonna be attending:https://strawpoll.com/bVg8BbK72yY
i hope that booth that sold doujinshi last year will be there. i'd like to buy one for one of my favorite 2hus or im@s
>>50791448Personally I want the artists for Ace Showdown to come back this year. Dunno why they didn't return last year but their merch was my favorite and their doujin was awesome.
>>50790844That makes me a bit insecure so I'll keep it to myself for now, specially since I am a member of the organization. Also, Im surprised people that posts and lurks /jp/ have come to our 2hu event, although this was by mere coincidence.
>>50792631Yeah that's understandable. I wish you the best of luck with the event either way
>>50790814Let me guess, it starts with T and ends with O, and the banner features a 2hu with a local hat?
>>50792701thank you anon>>50792795yup thats the one
>>50792833You need to be more careful with your posting, anon, you are lucky I'm a good person and I won't say anything else
>>50792845its alright, Im just a bit shy about going into specifics because we are still in the early years. But Im happy to see how things are goig
>>50792878It's alright, it's just a suggestion
>>50792845>>50792878what could possibly happen to your event if it's learned that someone from /jp/ goes there? I'm sure every touhou event in the world already has at least one of us in attendance.
>>50793352nothing really, I actually like that. Anons are fun to hang out with
>>50791448Siliconcat had really nice doujin goods and comics last year. I'll buy any homegrown doujinshi I see because I want to support more ambitious fanworks like that. Hopefully we get some more this year. The imported doujinshi vendor was indeed nice: the Touhou bin was overpriced, but I found some cool stuff in the misc bin and would definitely buy from them again.
>>50796535Which one did she sell? I don't think I remember that one.
>>507986811/2
>>50798681 2/2 (Maybe there was more, I only saved images that had things I wanted in them)
>>50799164>>50799095>those pricesI am never ever ever ever ever ever leaving Japan
>>50799170I get you. Doujinshi are unreasonably cheap in Japan. I'd love to live there. These prices are very reasonable for the US. Just going to and from the airport costs like $40. Since I pay these transport costs without blinking an eye, I try to convince myself to support artists as well. I'm probably too stingy with unnecessary expenses when I could make the world a little bit better by commissioning art etc.
>June 20thfuuuuuuuck
>>50799164>25 freedom eagles for a 3D print that doesn't even have the lines sanded downembarrassing
>>50799164That's fucked up. And I thought I was bad for selling resin printed GKs at a con for $50.
>>50801115Not even defending that, but at this point overpriced and unsanded 3D prints are a staple of every con I go to these days. There's always at least one booth. Fitting Touhoufest should have its own take on it too, eh? Kek
