This works well with a protagonist who is kind of autistic, and a heroine who is almost opposed to romance like Aoko. Basically anything that becomes as explicit as a direct confession would be boring by comparison. So he just endlessly prolongs that initial stage with little interest for anything beyond that lol. (Exception: Arcueid?)
