We can distinguish truth and develop intuitive understandings separate from the perceptions of others and yet we retain our connections with one another, also, the "human being" extends across time as well, as our apparent nature at any one time is a poor picture of who we are, you must also look backwards and forwards as well as among our peers, to conceive the whole. This nature is even difficult for us to conceive, even though we are apart of it, which is why every religion calls us to seek the higher principles of heaven, rather then just the pragmatic nature of the physical.To answer the question more pointedly: 'humans' will only be friends with oni when we recognize ourselves, at which point I imagine we will have nothing to fear from them and at the same time we'll find a way to make so they don't cease to be.
