Random question that I think I already have the answer to, but is there a term for these barely open eyes? The ones where, on a thumbnail, it looks like the character's eyes are closed, but upon closer inspection, you can barely see the iris. Really enhances evil or false smiles. You've probably already seen a pic of Tewi or Yuuka that fits this description. I've had no luck trying to replicate it by merely prompting, and i'm wondering if anyone has had better luck.

The only eye-specific tags that come to mind right now are half-closed_eyes and narrowed_eyes, but you might get lucky and get the girl to close her eyes even more if you combine either of them it with the sleepy tag. Adding tsurime might also help if you're thinking of characters like Yuuka in specific.

I've got impressions and I've got niggles, but overall not displeased. One VERY lucky stroke is huffing my own supply solved the issue of Anima apparently lacking in my preferred NSFW concepts. If not for that, I would've been way more liable to hard backpedal to IL. Enabling sage2 also brought it closer to SDXL it/s rates, so that's an extra PITA out of the picture. All in all, not bad.

Only brushed against them. They're base models with everything that goes. 2B LORA mapping isn't up to scratch yet either, at least in neo. "While keeping the image's artstyle" doesn't work that well (or at least for my style) since that will often make it try to interpret the style and recreate it. If there's less context for it, there's less to go off of and hence it will be less 'experimental' (up to a point, obviously). If it's making its own changes, I tend to include "don't change anything else".
With regards to its censoring, the rules I think are present are:
-Panties are usually not allowed unless it interprets the subject as being a mature adult
-Bikini is okay as long as it doesn't get confused, you can ask it to i2i to bikini but not to underwear too
-Spats are okay as long as they're dark enough and can't be mistaken for a tan or anything.
-Non-explicit nopan is a grey area, but it lets it through a lot more often than panties

It's scalable. Very first batch was 50 images simply passed through WD Tagger (built into Anima-TrainFlow, on that note), and it "worked." But no, tagging your dataset is not snake oil. The more consistently reappearing features you isolate and tag, the more "modular" they become. For example, even though 98% of my stuff includes white_pupils and colored_inner_hair, listing them in one of the later iterations enabled the LORA to affect the style without defaulting those features in. The concepts aren't lost, either, because tagging them in during generation renders them approximately how they appear in the dataset. It gives them an optional trigger, more or less.

At the opposite end of the scale, common concepts in the dataset NOT being tagged results in them getting baked into the LORA. Point in case: my first dataset wasn't curated whatsoever and ended up with a strong skew toward dark POV cowgirl shots lit from the side. Whereas bundling in and tagging more varied compositions and lighting situations returned the default, prompt-less output to the usual nondescript anime girl face on a white background. It's a style LORA, not a character or concept one, so that's the ideal result.

... Anyway, the final dataset ended up being 100 images with rather meticulous tagging. Sounds like a lot, but between pre-existing metadata, the little utility Gemma vibed up for me and simply remembering from slopping so much, it wasn't a monumental amount of work.

Concurring with >>51241460, great explanation, though I'd like to add that Chosen 3.0 is good compared to WAI because it doesn't ignore tags as much or have as much style bleed, at the cost of being a bit outdated and getting a little confused on really big prompts and breast sizes for some reason (they'll sometimes be half a size below/above what you prompted, it feels like).
I can't offer feedback for Anima, but for WAI vs Chosen 3.0 I guess it'd depend on whether you're the type of person that's fine with just genning something (WAI) or if you're the type that first has a mental image of exactly what it is they want to gen (Chosen). Macro vs micro.

Make an original character. That's the easy part. Now try making additional images of that character while keeping every detail consistent. The pattern on their dress, the shape of their accessories and so on. If you just prompt for, say, tribal tattoos, in a thousand seeds you'll see a thousand different patterns.

Catch-22, you need a consistent image set to train on first. If you can draw that, there's no reason to be using AI. You could try making it with an edit model but that's going to involve a lot of iteration, gacha and manual edits. Then you need to repeat all that for each outfit of each character plus any particular objects, places, animals, monsters and whatnot you want to feature in your story.

It can be done but it's a lot of work, and the kind of work is very frustrating.

I can't keep my ambitions in check so i'd be disappointed at whatever attempt at a VN i'd make. Even something like Charon's works with a modest length, at most 2 or 3 girls, and a couple of endings, it still takes a certain amount of finesse and range of expressions. No, WAI's gradually got quite good at fumo as long as they're straight-on. They're a bit strange, since they don't count towards '1girl', but they bleed tags.

This time I tried just drawing on the void in paint.net, with a little bit of gaussian noise and masking. It's definitely worked better, though that's also in part because of the composition.

Which is a little webui (requires Flask) slash Python script that reads a dataset folder, pairs the images and text files and displays a handy list that's filterable by what the entries contain or don't contain. Changes are saved as you make them in the text box. You can also select multiple entries and add or search-replace tags. It doesn't create text files or tag pictures by itself; you'll need WD Tagger for that.
You can launch it as any Python script or via the included .bat AFTER CAREFULLY EXAMINING ITS CONTENTS, as you always should.

Consistency's one already brought up bur, but I, for one, find continuous visuals and narration kind of distracting. Even my favourite doujins are more like 1-3 pages I enjoy a ton and then the rest is filler. That said, it's not like folks don't do it, cause I can name at least one Pixiv artist who did full-on doujins as far back as NAIv3 and in fact released at least one HRPG last I caught up with 'em.

I've been using a mostly uncensored GLM 5.3 and I've been having a lot of fun, only problem is its architecture makes its responses either great or dogshit so you need to roll a bunch, and if it has a bunch of cards it will often decide it needs to use all cards simultaneously. Definitely the best prose of a big model so far, very few of the generic llm-isms when instructed right. I've been spending days on being locked in Mayohiga by Yukari.

BTW played through New Classic, very very good. The new UI and menu is great really 2000s-esque.
Overall the new soundtrack didn't have any songs that were worse than the originals (just had ones where the originals were more preferable is all) some noteworthy ones
Apparitions Stalk the Night - Feels nothing like the original in the opening but it's very jazzy, I like it
Lovestruck Tomboy - Less twinkly and ZUN added these coconut klonking sounds to it which I can't help but think is supposed to be the sound Cirno's head would make. Weirdly the coconut sounds make it sound tropical
Chinese Tea - Sounds better than the original just gonna say it, the added Erhu section is perfect
Shanghai Alice of Meiji 17 - sounds very different apparently ZUN tried to make it sound more like the DiPP version which is why

Maid and the Pocketwatch of Blood - ZUN added the funky bass synths from LoLK into it, very funky

I am alive still. Draggin' my ass on outputs lately. Outside of the main desktop too so that's also a factor. But a bunch of games coming out and eating up my time also didn't help.

Speaking of, wanted to get this out before NC released but only finished it yesterday, ah well. (Also not really aiming for the 2000s aesthetic here like before. More of a general style.) The sword though is a bit of a reference to a wallpaper image from that album I posted some threads ago.

I've also somewhat jumped on the Anima train as this originally started from an Anima T2I and then swapped back to Illustrious to touch it up. Really that's my main gripe with Anima, since it's hard to mix artist styles with it I just pick one artist that's "close enough" and use my other IL presets to push it over. But it being able to catch my more esoteric pose ideas is nice. (might even be enough to kick gMod off the table)

Speaking of NC though, some general impressions now that I've played a full set.

Marisa's route really is just more fun dialogue-wise. Feels like they toned down the asshole and snark with Reimu's route and slightly overall, but I might be getting mixed with her scenario in PCB where we get CRIMSON SLASHER Reimu. Whereas Marisa is still keepin' the banter in EoSD.
They've still maintained the, "yeah these are characters who've killed people before and could likely make true on their threats" aspect of the dialogue at least. Although we'll probably see a bunch of newfags complaining about "muh grimsokyo" again.

On the music side of things:

Honestly I'm not sure what to think of them. They aren't [i]bad[/i] per se. but it feels...out of place?
Like Remilia's theme is still great. But OG EoSD kinda let it sit on its own or use the stage theme to set it up. This new arrangement gives it the "final boss" feel which is cool. But feels like it's hyping it up more than it needed.
Sakuya's theme is probably an improvement, I don't think I ever really liked the OG version. Despite how iconic it is. Stage theme is also nice sounding too, but I don't think I like the "vibe shift" from the OG. It's supposed to be presenting herself as the Perfect and Elegant Maid right? The stage theme kinda reflects that somewhat in the OG track, but now it's been adjusted to sound more "hectic" which, I suppose if you consider the situation to be, "yeah shit's a mess because Reimu/Marisa and bustin' in and wrecking shit", I guess it makes sense.

Shanghai Teahouse is an upgrade. I Like the Erhu section on the second half where it's leaning into the chinese theme. But Meiji 17 feels like a downgrade. ZUN tried too much to refine from the DIPP track instead of making it "Meiling's theme"

On Patche's stage and theme though, I liked how gloomy the OG was, but I also enjoy the cheekiness ZUN did with the remake where he snuck in a "bit of Remilia-ness" into the track. You can hear it just before the start of the main melody with the guitars. Just slightly after where you think it sounds like "James Bond"

Overall though, I think the biggest casualty is the removal of the English. Oh and the clarification on Rumia's pose which I think is DUMB. I expect most of the community to ignore it because c'mon.

Remilia would definitely have lots of paintings of herself everywhere in the mansion. As for how accurate they are... would depend on the artist.
My idea was that Remilia had invited or manipulated the POV into visiting her room while she's getting undressed, or possibly was talking to him through the door without bothering to mention that she's undressing. Sakuya is just enjoying the free show.
