Ouenifs is a recast seller. Everything on their store is recast. I'm not even anti-recast for people who are genuinely in countries with a worse buying power in the US but don't lie and claim that anything on there isn't recast.
>>
>>51293725
This. Same fuckers that scammed me in the past, you cant cancel either. Dont support these motherfuckers. Quality is shit too, dolls cant hold a position and they tend to use stolen pictures from the originals, their shit looks much worse.

Are you implying Amazon sells Recasts?
Chose your words carefully.
>>
>>51293758
Yes? Are you actually retarded? Amazon sells 99% the same shit as aliexpress or temu just with a markup these days.

You can actually often find the originals via image search its usually small niche indivdual artists wich makes stealing their work even more loathsome.
>>
>>51293747
Scammed you?
With a 4.6 rate on Amazon and 4.9 on aliexpress?
Sore loser.
>>
>>51293766
Does Amazon sells counterfeited goods?
You stupid motherfucker.
>>
>>51293767
>4.9 on aliexpress?
Reviews are bought and negative reviews dont stay up. When I tried to contest their refusal to accept a cancelation/return and opened a dispute it was denied and my account got closed after I left a negative review calling out the recast and refusal of the return guarantee. And yes I did find the original artist, after a lot of searching.

>>51293769
Yes, since always.
>>
You are liars and manipulative cunts:
You don't want people with limited finance to buy from ali because muh feelings and chink bad!
You don't want them to buy from Amazon because muh feelings and muh feelings!!111

Yo want people to buy your shit.
Guess what? Up your ass.
I won't get a bank loan to buy your crap.

I, Me, speaking to you right now, bought from Sartoriaj and got fucked over.

Don't listen to these disingenuous fucks. (Or fuck?) Buy what you can afford and be happy.
I bought 5 dolls from Ali and never had any issues.

Make you opinion about ali and other on "Chink Shit General" on /g/.
I can tell you this: Aliexpress is RELIABLE.
>>
>>51293788
Your just seething because you didnt know you bought recast garbage arent you?

There are legit chinese brands like asleep eidolon and the quality is a huge difference, I own 2 and love them. If your fine with your recasts then I dont care. But dont reccommend them without mentioning that fact. Most online doll communities shun recasts viciously for a reason.
>>

I am done with this argument.
>>
>>51293758
>>51293769
Amazon is known for cheap, aliepress goods listed at a higher price. 90% of items on Amazon have some random wordsmash name because they're from companies that shut down and rename themself on a dime to avoid the bad reviews. Unless you think Popomar and Tyarcox are legitimate brands. Have you not used it in the last 10 years?
>>51293788
If you've actually been to CSG then you would know that they warn you that a lot of stuff on Aliexpress is low quality and that you actually need to look to find the legitimate shit instead of just buying the first thing you see.

Why dont you post some real pictures of their actual dolls instead of their stolen advertisement pictures that are from the originals. And the problem is not about quality its about stealing from small artists that made the originals and make this hobby possible.

Also people WILL call you out if you post recasts on social media wich takes a lot of the fun out of it, sharing cute pictures of your dolls is a big part of the hobby.
Since I dont want to just textpost here is my doll-daughter from a legit brand+seller. Even with my shitty camera she is a cutie.

No problem, you can get them from the sales site, along with customer reviews.

You're trying to make people feel guilty for not being able to afford premium.
They're not buying premium on Ali, it's true, but they're not fools, they know this as well.
So please, stop burying their heads in the sand, you elitist prick.
>>
>>51293906
I am not being elitist you cunt, we are just trying to get you to acknowledge those are recasts, usually you can find the OG artists social medias with a bit of work.

If its about the money tinyfox wich I suggested is in the same price class, legit and super cute even its 1/6 but that fits their proportions very well.

i do have a question, why is it that doll bases are like $100+ with no eyes/hair/clothes etc but a blindbox BJD is like 30$ and sometimes looks decent
>>
>the /toy/ trolls that killed the resin threads are back
I guess these threads were nice while they lasted.
>I'm not trolling you ju-
If you believed what you say you wouldn't be putting on this little bitch "validate me" act.
>>
>>51294195
Couple of things.
Blind box toys are generally made by toy companies that mass produce them; a large number of doll companies(read; not Volks) tend to make dolls to order and are quite small.
Blind box dolls are also marketed completely differently and have a large overlap with the broader blind box customer base, so there is not only more customers but the whales who will drop a bunch of money to try and pull a SSR doll, same as gacha games.
They're also way, way lower quality. The blind box dolls are comparable to stuff you might find at a department store, while proper BJDs are specialty goods you'd find at a doll store.
>>
I have no horse in the recast race but try buying literally anything on Amazon and you have a 50/50 shot on actually getting what you wanted to order even if you buy directly from a brand's storefront. It's a genuine problem especially for electronics (controllers, cables, sd cards, camera batteries...) my point is it's not unreasonable to point out that Amazon is a warehouse for shit as much as Temu/Ali/Wish/etc. (It's also a known fact that Ouenifs has stolen photos from instagram/etc to market their dolls; irrespective of the quality of the dolls themselves. And unlike small hand-made creators on Etsy, telling Luo Tianyi to knock it the fuck off and take down your stolen work does fuckall unless you go the actual DMCA route... and even then, it only works on the websites you can find. Fucker.)

I have some small indie dolls from first-time creators and I'm sure Luo's unironic slave-labor recast factory in the poorest of China's manufacturing provinces can mog their work by virtue of having standardized processes; in that sense I can see that one might be swayed by the allure of purported quality at a seemingly-impossible value. Given that he owns the "conventional" marketplaces I can't fault anyone for stumbling into buying one, only to learn later that they were duped into buying a knock-off. Finding actual legitimate creators in the sea of bootleg ads is way harder than it should be, especially for normal people used to getting everything dropshipped from Amazon. It is what it is, can't fault people for making mistakes. It's people who know all of the above and still seek out the recasts who perplex me, but I'm sure they have their reasons, and that's their business.

Regardless, anon lit their money on fire to buy recycled medical waste from Luo, and that was their choice to make. Post more dolls; no point arguing with people who have a financial stake in defending their purchasing decisions.

This is a project to create a calendar with doll pictures. It happened the last two years. Everyone in the thread can submit their photos for one of the months or the cover. Last year 20 were printed and it costed about $30 to buy a calendar without shipping.
In order to make it this year, at least someone in charge of printing, handling the payments and sending the calendars would be needed.

Welp, I have 0 experience handling shipping things and I'm outside of the us, so I'm not the best option to handle that but I'd buy one if it is done.

It is surely different for everyone, but the general idea that I follow is that items are meant to be used, and denying an item of its purpose kills its soul. Dolls are meant to be cherished, loved, and appreciated, as those are what give them life. If you can do that by keeping them in their box, more power too you. Personally, that is something I cannot do, which is why I take mine around as travel buddies and take lots of photos. Would I be gutted if my dolls got damaged? Of course, and I feel bad if they so much as topple over as I'm dressing/brushing them. Still, the enjoyment I get out of taking them out on little adventures far outweighs the anxiety of losing them.

To echo with this anon >>51305731
They 'live' when I move them and pose them. I want them to be as alive as they can be, and I love seeing them come to life as I pose them and enjoy every single moment. I have been devastated each and every time they've been damaged. But that's one of the reasons I picked vinyl Dollfie Dreams. They are easy to stain treat, they're easy to buy spare parts for, and they're pretty hardy still, all things considered.
Samus is on her third body
Emma was built out of Samus's stained parts and spares
etc.
They would be safe in their boxes, but then I wouldn't have my photos and my memories with them, I wouldn't be able to look over on my shelf and see them in whatever pose I have them in for the month. In the end, that's what you're really paying for, the enjoyment you get out of having this beautiful thing in your life. Enjoy your doll, that's what they're there to do, be enjoyed.
Pic collab showing all our wonderful thread dolls and the moments we all captured with them.

what these anons said! <3

>>51305651
i’m used to playing with her at home, but i really had to work up the courage to take fio to Anime Boston earlier this year. that was pretty nerve racking since my dolls don’t leave home, and i don’t have a dedicated doll travel bag, but it still worked out ok for a first-time doll meet! in general, i would say it’s important to wash (and throughly dry) your hands first whenever possible, it’s imperative to be mindful of not touching the faceup, and just try not to be too worried otherwise because body parts are usually replaceable one way or another (though i suppose that wouldn’t be the case for specific pieces from limited fullsets). regular proximity to your dolls is key. if you have your dolls somewhere close to you often (i keep a few in my office because i wfh), you will for sure interact with them little by little until it feels weird not to adjust their poses and give them tea and snacks (or whatever you find is fun for you). i will say there are outfits that feel a bit too fussy to play with much; in my case, that means alphinaud, alisaie, and anthy get the least hands-on attention because they’re still in their fancy official outfits. anyway, gl!

Where did you get her from? I ordered one from LAPEONIER, but I expected them to ship out in November. And after that I'm going to have to get her forwarded and through customs. Not exactly looking forward to those charges, but it can't be helped.

I can manage ordering and shipping again this year (we actually have a slight discount due to last year's hole issue that I had to remedy). If someone would like to assist with the calendar file preparation, I would gladly welcome it if you're familiar with graphic design work.

Thank you!!
I'm ready to help on the calendar files. My plan is to generate svg images with some overengineered scripts. It's basically the same design. I have a decent start, though there is still quite some work to do.
Had you plan some particular changes for the previous layout?

That's awesome. Thank you! Everything except the previous/next month previews were done by hand because I couldn't find a suitable calendar generator that would work in a way that I wanted. If I were more prepared, I would have vibe-slopped scripts to generate the calendar pages over the last year.

Layout can stay more or less the same. Some things to consider:
- Holidays will need to be included based on the countries of anons that order them. Last year we had USA, Canada, France, and Germany.
- Theming of the pages should be able to take from one or two colors sampled from the images. Everything previously was based off of one hue with varying levels of saturation and value, but I'm open to including a second color for contrast.
- Can we automate the doll name/make/details section as well?
- Play around with different fonts; we can change it up from last year.

I didn't really like the faint monochrome image that I put in the background of the calendar this past year. We could do patterns like the 2025 calendar, blank, or something else.

We went out for a walk, she was sticking out of a bag, and the hand came loose again. Dumb way to lose it, but 15 bucks for a raincoat set and a nice coat was sweet.

They turned out great! I only have one doll with pierced ears, so I use magnets for all of mine. I'm so deathly afraid of piercing anyone else's. I used to haunt Joann's jewelry making section for small charms to turn into earrings for them. Pic related, Katie's candy corn earrings from a few years ago.

I got these earring loops from Amazon. I used about 10-11 mm width sized ones. Larger would work since it doesn't fit some ears, it slides off.
Then with pliers, pulled out the silver/gold metal ring part outward. Then trim the store bought earring posts shorter.
Just put the earring post into the earring and maybe some glue if needed.

NTA but you cannot imagine the hell of trying to find one of those. There is one playline horse that works for 1/3 scale, released roughly 20 years ago, and every time it comes up for auction it goes for roughly the cost of a new Dollfie Dream. I'll get one eventually... there is one on taobao as well, but I believe it's been out of production for a while... and after the cost of shipping it, it might still be cheaper to get the vintage toy horse instead. Anyone willing to take on the challenge of making a 1/3 scale horse of any kind (let alone an articulated one) that looks decent has my sympathy. Horses are kind of legendary in being hard to render well because they are, anatomically, weird as fuck.

For 1/4-scale, American Girl and other 18" doll horses work fine, thankfully. 1/4 and 1/6 are the scales for prop enjoyers.

>>51327633
That is why I am wary to try and import one from Taobao. The shipping on this boy was pretty high, and that was before the tariffs and everything else happened.
>>
>>51326539
i really like this but spending money on digital cosmetics is retarded
>>
>>51328348
NTA, but I have a four-figure amount of hours in a virtual dress-up game. You are correct, and I want everyone to know that. It's not worth it. It's never worth it. Love yourselves. Spend money on tangible goods, or at least entire games. You might not be happier, that's up to the individual, but you will have more money to spend on your dolls.

I'll never understand people who post on this AI and pothead infested shithole and expect anon not to act like a complete nigger. Some of us found dolls here. I'm a part of several different doll communities, and I keep coming back here because I remember where I was when I first discovered these dolls. The people here helped me with advice, openly answered questions for me, and cheered me on as I learned and tried and often failed. I want to do that for other people here who may be where I was. Simple as.

What this anon said. I started collecting dolls because I found dolls here. I maintain these threads because I like dolls. This website is a relic of the internet and 90% of the posts are hot garbage dubiously posted by a real human person. But there's still good to be found here. I don't like the modern internet and I don't like making accounts to socialize. This is a quiet dusty little corner, but it works for me. Trying to start drama here is unsurprising because we are circling the drain of the internet's toilet, but it's still pretty pathetic.

On that note,
