What it will take for the AK platform to look less like a liability to own in the US? Price gouged AKs, scarcity of ammo, and the same copy and paste Zentico inspired furniture that cost more the gun itself. When is the reformation going to come?
>>
>>64177976
Never it’s a dead rifle. The only thing keeping them alive in the world is the turd world and russian pride

This. The world has moved on to goyslop polymer sig tier bull shit. Thankfully, AKs last forever
>>
>>64177976
Either 7.62x39 needs to become cheap again through whatever means(lol) or companies that make AK's for the western market need to start going all in on producing more 5.56 AK's.
Right now a 5.56 M70 is one of the better rifles you could own.

You need to factor in shipping costs to the CPR
>>
>>6417836
The main problem of 762×39 is that it lacks availability, you can go to any LGS small or big or any site, and you will know that you can still feed your gun for the foreseeable future, in contrast if you are looking for 762 is either going to be shitty corrosive over priced ammo or non at all.

Meh, I'd rather work on AK FCGs than HK SEF/Ambi trigger packs. Once you tie the hammer spring legs up the rest is super easy.

>>64179103
It's not the clearest picture but there's a trick I use that's like this.
Take an empty 12ga shell and slide it over the hammer when the two springs are pulled up and under a lot of tension. If you've done it right then the springs won't give you snake bites when they snap your hand because they can't move.
>>
>>64179140
Yes
>>64179136
>>64179147
Hammer was annoying but getting the trigger and disconnector lined up was worse
>>
>>64179152
Yeah true, you just get better with it over time.
I put a punch through the holes to line them up, then use the fcg pin with another punch and tap it in. Doesn't always work the first time but if you've changed triggers on an AR it'll be second nature
>>
>>64179103
It's not hard, some people get hung up in the selector being blocked but all you have to do is rotate it backwards. I had never installed a FCG on an AK before but when I got my Romanian barreled action from AoA I had to watch a jewtube video easy as fuck you retard.

The gun was atrociously heavy, and poorly tuned. I never put a KNS piston in it or anything, and the builder spec'd the port for standard AKM. The PBS-1 suppressor from Dead Air is hardly low back pressure. It was a lot.

I run KNS pistons now in both of my AKM kit builds. I'll probably run a KNS in the Galil SAR build. Stoked for that I was hunting for a LONG time for a chrome lined 1:7 twist barrel. Barrel is custom from Mark Rundle Obstreperous. Super cool boomer guy turning NICE custom barrels but AKfiles mod homos always jump on his shit because he won't pay to be a vendor because he legit is just an old guy turning barrels, not a true vendor. AKfiles mods are the worst.

That 104 build I think had a final configuration as pic related before I sold it during Covid panic.
Way more enjoyable to shoot with the polymer furniture, but still it wasn't great.

AR fag here looking for buying advice since r/ak47 seems unfriendly

I’m looking for a AK in that AK74m style in 7.62 or 5.56, you know the classic black polymer furniture and 74 brake. Side folding poly stock would be neat but not necessary. Doesn’t have to clone correct or anything, just look similar to the untrained eye (me). Also doesn’t have to be uber battle reliable/accurate, just ‘good nuff’.

Side question: if ak above doesn’t exist how hard is it to get a regular wbp/wasr and make it look that way?

(Pic is look I want)
>>
>>64194494
I should have bought a KP9 when I had a chance.
>>
>>64194656
I know WBP has a 100 series rifle but not sure if they have side folding option, you could always get an adapter for it to be side folding, not sure how clone correct you want it. If I were you, I would go get a WASR, the only one out of the three that is built a government owned factory and is almost up to milspec.

WBP = the fuckin SAIGA spammers are hilarious. the only reason people think theyre worth the money is because somebody told them theyre worth the money so they went and bought one, and then to justify their purchase they go tell 4chan about how the SAIGA is the best rifle and such a GREAT DEAL at EIGHTEEN HUNDREDS DOLLARS FOR AN UNCONVERTED SPORTER! So what if its just a basic bitch SPORTER with mediocre build quality and CAST components, its RUSSIAN! KC IS IZHMASH TOO SO ITS LIKE THE EXACT SAME THING! Just admit that you got into the AK game too late and that youre paying $1400 more than you should be paying for literally no reason, REDDIT is jewing you but you dont want to admit it because you dont want to see like a retard for paying over $400 for a featureless rifle
>>
>>64194656
What you want is called 100 series or 74m style. There are differences but not enough to your untrained eye for it to matter to you. WASR can't really get that way without it being kinda a pain in the ass. WBP you can buy it that way in either 5.56 or 7.62x39, they don't have the side folding option on US market yet. PSA also makes them in both calibers like that and you can get them in fixed or folding stock. Anything else will be questionable like Riley or boomer tax collector price levels like a stamped Bulgarian but you could pay if you want

It’s a trade. I’m definitely on the worse end of the deal but I’m fine with that. I’m trading an AUG that I got before I realized that I don’t like bullpups. The Saiga is a Century Arms “converted” one with a Tapco G2, their dogshit buttstock, and a pistol grip. The receiver holes from the conversion are filled in with plastic “rivets”.
My only requirement was that it not be permanently modified in a way that would prevent a 101 conversion. I don’t know if I’ll keep the Tapco trigger or not.

So if you're okay with an AK-74 (fixed stock) as opposed to an AKS-74 (folding triangle stock) or AK-74M (folding solid polymer stock) then that helps because it allows for a SAR-3 to more or less fit the bill.
https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1115400241
There are generally one or two for sale on gunbroker at any given time, and they're legit AKs, real european mil-spec parts. Throw some Russian AK-74 wood furniture on and honestly just enjoy it.
DO NOT buy a WBP. DO NOT buy a PSA, DO NOT buy a Pioneer, DO NOT buy a Riley. Those products are not guns but at wallhanger noise maker talisman facsimiles of rifles. Period.
If you want the folding rear stock of an AKS-74 or AK-74M or 100 series, that definitely makes things tougher. Your best bet at the point is a kit build, but that will take time, effort, research, and money ($1500-$2000). The market is tough right now for buyers of 5.56 74/100 series spec rifles right now. Lots of options if you just want a toy, but very few if you want a real gun.

My suggestions SAR-3 if you're okay with AK-74 non folding stock. Kit build if you want a folder, or just hang tight until better options are available.

A buyers market is bad for manufacturers because it means supply is greater than demand and prices are being driven down. Companies that were on a thin margin before won't make money on their products and thus will go out of business without change.

How many of you guys still shoot 5.45 in the current year? I’ve got an SLR104fr I’ve had since 2012 but I hardly shoot it anymore. For many years it was my favorite rifle, both with cheap ammo and also just very pleasant to shoot, but nowadays I can’t help but think every round I shoot is basically a round of 5.45 I’ll never get back/never get back without paying out the ass for. I’m considering selling and getting out of 5.45 completely just because it’s hard to enjoy when in the back of my mind I know my 5.45 stash is finite regardless of how much ammo I’ve got. I could well the rifle, mags, ammo, and my AKS74 accessories for a decent chunk of change, but there’s a high chance I’ll regret it because it’s a very cool rifle. My state is also now a cuck state so I’ll likely never replace it so there’s that too.
