Only reason to get a .357 is it gives you the option of going bigger if you want. As for the boomerism, sometimes big fuck off revolvers are just plain fun. I wouldn't recommend a 9.5" barrel .44 or a BFR .45-70 to someone looking for a pocket revolver but I'd definitely recommend it to someone that likes excessively large fireballs and loud noises.
