Any Mauser experts here? Just curious what the future value of them holds. I have a 1938 German Mauser in pre-war military configuration. Very good condition. Nazi stampings, eagle and swastika both in several places. It's one of my prized possessions and I don't ever plan on selling it, but I'm just curious what something like that would be worth now or in the future. I bought it for $280 in 2008 at the tail end of surplus dump from Russia.Pic is random pull from Google, mine is locked away in the safe right now.
>>64190292$280 in 2008
>>64190292somewhere in the $1.2k ballpark on the higher end. depending on the condition its in and if its a Russian capture.
>>64190292Mausers of any sort are highly collectable and their value is constantly increasing. The thing is that "Mauser" is a VERY broad label. Some are worth a few hundred bucks. Some are worth 6 figures. Tiny little autism details matter. What exact rifle do you have? Be specific. What model, what factory made it, are there any capture markings or anything else unusual? Without knowing exactly what you have it's probably worth several hundred dollars but I doubt it's anything super special. The average Pre-war K98K is worth under a grand, and a lot of them of them are dodgy and worth far less. Lesser guns being built from parts and sold to uneducated collectors are a thing, so is faking the Nazi stampings. There is a lot of fakery going on with any sort of Nazi related collectable. If this is your field of interest you really ought to do the research.
>>64190586It's in good condition. Russian capture.>>64191512I researched it a long time ago but forget the actual details. Don't know what factory made it. What's a good source for getting information on markings?
>>64190292Don't think guns as investment, they are appreciated in value extremely slow, sell it and buy some gold unless someone else has a better idea of an investment.
>>64191569>What's a good source for getting information on markings? The books by Karem & Steves>>64191579Guns absolutely can be an investment, but just like with buying stocks, bonds, crypto, fine art, etc, there are good investments, meh investments, and bad investments. Do your homework before you spend. Rarity alone is not a good measure of value, there are fashion trends in the gun world too.

Only Jews care about speculative value
>>64191579I don't plan on selling, as I said it's one of my prized possessions. It's more of a curiosity. >>64191804Yeah, I understand things tend to surge and dip in value according to trends. I didn't buy it for that reason though. >>64191934Thanks, will do.>>64192097I do have a little Ashkenazi in my family tree, unfortunately.
