I will say in the load data for 500 bushwacker they have a 700 gn listed out of a 14 inch buntline doing 1700 fps ish but yeah that’s still around 4500 ft-lbs.. they recently released 500 bushwacker magnum, but that’s not meant to be a giant jump… its a little more, but the change was due to switching to a belted cartridge because they couldn’t get cases from Bertram…. Luckily that’s cleared up and it looks like they’re offering both moving forward…. I’m debating spending the 500$ to get a second cylinder…. You can also run 500 Wyoming express in it…. And since I already spent to get the gun and convert it in the first place it seems prudent to add to what it can shoot…. I do think it’s wild that it’s as close as it is considering it’s using a 10 inch barrel.. but going up to 20+ probably wouldn’t bridge the gap without changing powder… in one of the videos TII put out they mention that they don’t want to do that since they felt it’s essentially just odd sized 458 Lott at that point…. I don’t know if anyone’s tried them on any of the traditional safari animals, although they’ve had a picture of a hippo someone got with one on their website for forever…. I do think being a 5 shot gun is a pretty big advantage in its favor.. not that I actually plan to hunt with mine…. I’d love to pick up a safari rifle eventually. Really enjoy the big boom.
