is there even a point in training soldiers for long range rifle shooting in a world of military drones everywhere?

it feels like this entire discipline evolved in world where you could hide and didnt have drones with thermals everywhere.

What country is this that allows fucking makeup nails and ring? What a fucking shithole lmao

in order to counter signal blocking technology, a large number of drones are what's known as "drone on wire" systems. this means that even though it's called a "drone," it's still got this stupid wire going directly to the operator. he's going to be 50-100 meters away. tops.
shooting these fucks before they even get within a kilometer would make the drones look pretty fucking useless.

I suppose shooting babies is equally bad as abortion.
>>
>>64195126
We invented gun powder, hell we invented the bow after the knife. Soldiers still carry one, armies still issue bayonets, you still need something sharp. Don't care how you feel about it but the ability to shoot is still a weapon of war
>>
>>64195303
I was not issued a bayonet. I was not issued the pistol. All i had was a shitty bullpup.

absolute POG mentality.

because ukraine is not representative of how a modern war is fought, and retards don't understand statistics and clap their hands together like retarded seals because drone attacks make up the majority of war videos nowadays.
it's almost as if there's a correlation between having a live camera feed on every single drone and there being a lot of recorded drone attacks.
it's almost as if people would clap their retarded seal hands at bullets or arty shells instead if those all had livestreaming camera's strapped to them.
>>
>>64195303
i was never given a bayonet or knife in the army, only knife i had on me was a small leatherman. they did teach us how to strike someone with the gun stock/barrel
>>
>>64195328
I can't help but feel like you're being purposefully obtuse about this

rifles and bullets are cheaper. no collateral damage.

Now to be fair just about every army allows people to wear a wedding ring while in uniform. However the fancy ass one she has is probably going to snag on shit constantly

>is there even a point in training soldiers for long range rifle shooting in a world of military drones everywhere?
if you dont have a drone over your target this very instant, then you will need a plan B
if the drone engages a target, then you want to push forward while the enemy has gone to ground, and this requires a weapon

for infantry to actually make a drone strike matter, they need to be able move to a better position
a drone strike on a target is pretty pointless if your unarmed soldiers are forced back out 10 seconds after taking a position

Not him, but I was POG, and I had a knuckle Duster and a Machete on me.

Most Marines laughed at me for having a Machete...until we needed to cut vegetation near the river when on patrol, chopping through lightly boarded up doors...opening up cans of spam, and then using said machete as a spatula.

I don't care if we have LAZOR gun in the next 20 years, somebody needs a machete to do "stuff"

Being a melee weapon is included in "stuff"

Drones are replacing and taking over the role of sniper teams. Almost everything a sniper team can do (observing and shooting important targets), drones can do it better.
There may still be a need for a DMR role in the team. But pure sniper teams are just becoming a big targets.

>because ukraine is not representative of how a modern war is fought
Is there anything more stupid than what you just said! The war in Ukraine is exactly the most modern weapons and tactics being used in now!
>>64195986
Are you really going to hold your ground with a bolt-ation rifle?! You have so many weapons that would be better for that role..
>>
>>64196077

Sure you did pal.
Reddit space BTW go back.

One Russian sniper also mentioned that drone observation counters snipers in open terrain hard. Against observation from ground level sniper in Gilly suit can be comfortably invisible for days on his position. Pesky DJI watching from position elevate 200 meters above ground instantly unmasks sniper lying in teh grass.
He also said most work on sniper teams is shooting down Baba Yaga drones. These drones are invisible in teh night but are big and vulnerable. Snipers have thermals to see them.

You see, In the US Army, they train you to kill a man with your bare hands. If you suck, they give you a gun.

It's quite literally the only modern full real war since at least the 1960s.

FPV drones arent an issue for 1st world militaries.
Recon drones are, in which case extending engagement distances is very important.
