>is it a high-lo mix deal?
No, although you wouldn't be faulted for thinking that way. It's a pretty complicated story too.
The Su30 was created as the export variant of the SU27 at a time when the Soviet Union was undergoing a collapse and couldn't afford to buy its own fighter jets. That's why there's like 15-30 variants of the Su30. Every different customer got a customized version and a lot of those had western (usually from France and Israel) components and weapons.
>so what's actually the difference
The point of what I just said is that it depends on a lot on the version in question, but, in general, the Su30 is a multirole jet while the Su35 is an air superiority jet (but also multirole).
Right now, in Russia, the Su30 goes primarily to the Russian navy while the air force is getting Su35 + Su34. There's also deliveries of the Su57 which is why at some point Su35 jets will cease production for their own air force and become an export only product.
tl;dr: the Su35 is the air to air model, the Su30 is the poorfag's designated export multirole model.

>What's the difference between the su30 and su35,
The answer is 5. Fucking American education.

Lot of words and mostly wrong.

SU-27 was air to air only, no air to ground capability at all.

SU-30 was a development of a late SU-27 version but was a 2 seater and fully multirole (It was the Russian response fo F-15E).

The SU-35 is a development of another late version of the SU-27, is fully multirole but retains single seat.

The Russians are upgrading SU-30's with the same radar and engines used in the SU-35 for easier logistics, so the only obvious difference between SU-30 and 35 will be 2 seater vs 1 seater.

Made by different factories.

They are the same plane, like how the T72 and the T90 are the same tank

Whats Su-57?

T-90 is T-72B with T-80U fire control.
>>
>>64195805
The original T-90. After that the T-90A/S/M, T-80 and T-72 diverged a little (turret, temporary sensors, layout of the ERA kits)

Su-27 --> Su27UB --> Su-27PU --> Su-30

Su-27 --> Su-27M --> Su-27SM --> Su-35

Isn't the Su-30SM2 basically a Su-35?

I tried to get the Soviet combat jets memorized. I gave up.
Are there any tips or tricks to it?

Watch media about them, read up on Wikipedia and study pictures autistically and before you know it you will be able to tell them apart.

Jesus fucking Christ
I know at least half of these are Chinese derivatives and foreign models, but did they never actually try to consolidate variants?

Also what's peoples opinions on the MiG-35? I always thought Russia should've put more into it.

>the Su30 is the poorfag's designated export multirole model.

It is not. As you mentioned, export Su30s often have Western avionics. These are more expensive.

That's not entirely correct and many of the distinctions are made up, for example the Su-35 is an update of Su-27SM and the difference is mainly electronics.

So if I could fly a Su27 and got popped into a 35 could I fly it?
>>

The Su-27(S)M got its designation while it was still in development, it isn't really a 'type'.
