So imagining that in the bleak near-future where urban cities become ultra dense instead of just sprawling, what kind of weaponry would be expect to see military forces use?

Im not specifically talking about in picrel, just generally what kind of small arms would the standard infantry grunt be fielding in a force on force conflict within such compact spaces? Would we see a large resurgence of SMG/PDW style weapons? The true rise of Bullpups as standard issue? Would machine pistols replace standard semi-automatic sidearms? What, if any, vehicles or armored transport would even be feisable (assuming civilians have been cleared from the conflict region)?

Imagine dropping a thermobaric bomb right in the middle of that bitch

lots of grenades

you dont, get more

Bombs. Failing that, artillery.

>what kind of weaponry would be expect to see military forces use?
A fuckton more thermobarics.
>small arms
Gunz and a lot more grenades
>SMG/PDW
Maybe, the LMG sorta fills the same role. The thought of using an SMG to clear rooms is retarded since the real way to clear rooms is to throw nades in before entering. You would only clear rooms with small arms if you're concerned of civilians being in that very room.
>bullpups
Lol no. Regular rfles would still fill the same roll of shooting someone in the building across the street, a bullpup won't do that job better.
>machine pistols
Maybe. Honestly idk.
>vehicles, armored transport
The puroose of armor is to protect you (duh). In a city you don't need it since the buildings act as protection, although APCs like M113s or MRAPs will still fill the role of making sudden breakthroughs and thunderruns where you need that extra over-head prototection. Urban warfare is slow as fuck though so don't expect many if any of those.

Those were men sir. I'm sorry.

I feel like the concern there would be structural damage

We aren't preserving that shithole. We bulldozer the rubble with the bodies and make something better.

As per OP, this isn’t specifically Kowloon, this is presumably your country’s city or at the very least a city you want to capture intact
>>
Sticky grenades in every little crevice. I don't care if there "might" be a family in there.
>>
Grenades with wings
Grenades with little wheels
Grenades with legs
Sometimes grenades that swim when on the bottom levels.

Beforehand a nice gas campaign

>what kind of weaponry would be expect to see military forces use?
The same as we have right now? Also people will quickly stop the "4 guys just push in and clear it with rifles" and instead just throw grenades in and then have a guy with the biggest machine gun just spray the whole room down before pushing it.

Damn, modern warfare really is boring as fuck huh? I miss when it was all about the new infantry wonder-weapons

One of the reason for an ultra-dense city is that the need for space. Therefore, space is a commodity.
When at conflict you avoid destroying commodity, so it's a big no for explosives, especially on a compact area.
Bullets? In such space it could easily hit non combatant people.
And then you have to consider the effect of raiding one compact city: panicking and stampede.
Best solution for all the chaos at a tight area?
>Gas

>>64197527
Oh, no, anon, that's the entire point. Level that fucking tumor so it can be excised.
>>
>>64198175
I feel the obvious solution for the other side would be gas masks/HEV equipment

>>64198183
Yes but in this scenario that’s the norm, also home to your manufacturing base, presumably agriculture, civilian housing, etc. if you’re trying to take that land it’s idiotic to flatten what could be used to your benefit and if you’re trying to defend it than that’s sand nigger logic

If your talking Kowloon city door to door.
I'd take my 300 blk in a heartbeat.

Cities are evil and produce nothing but evil and there's no victory condition where you don't flatten one.

Israel has tweaked tunnel-bomb thermobarics that specifically propagate further along tunnels before exploding, destroying more tunnel. They would work well here, permeating more building/moving through more rooms before exploding. Might need a ballistic cap of some kind and extra delay to get down into the lower core of the sponge structure. Also pancaking floors always a good idea try for that.

The problem with ultra dense cities is that they require an ultra huge amount of supplies to sustain the population.

Or anti tank mines or mortar shells with grenade fuzes on them, there are several videos of ukrainians and russians using tactics like this where they lob a satchel full of AT mines into a room or building and it pretty much collapses half the structure, this could cause friendly casualties though

Gas
>>
>>64198226
Gas mask filters only last for a limited amount of time, so if you keep the gas up for 24-48 hours and maintain a no-escape physical perimeter, the filters will be exhausted and the masks will give out.
