What is your most practical/utilitarian firearm /k/? Whether you base that on availability of ammo/parts, ease of maintenance, reliability, or effectiveness at it's intended goal is up to you. i don't care whether it's a family heirloom that's been taking game for over a century or a beater you bought cheap at a pawn shop, I just wanna see some sensible boom sticks
>>64203941a zastava mini mauser bolty in .223 with variable scope and irons.
>>64203941For me it's the Remington 870 Police Magnum SBS. Mine looks like picrel except my barrel and stock are both about an inch shorter. For versatility, can't really beat a 12 gauge shotgun. I also have an 18" barrel for it and a flush tube extension that I use for shooting clays. It's a riot, no pun intended. I intend to take it out for pheasant hunting this season.
>>64204434Intermediate cartridge bolt guns are kino>>64204446Can't argue with you there, there's not a whole lot you can't do with a good shotgun. That's the main reason my first was a 12 gauge, well that and it being based
>>64204446>Remington 870 Police Magnum SBSI hate mine and can’t wait until I turn it back in.
>>64204446Based SBSbro. Not the smallest, lightest, highest cap, best range, but sometimes it’s about sending a message. The M1 is sweet but the 870 is not gonna be picky.
>>64203941Unironically a gen 3 g19>Small enough for CCW>Big enough to be comfy to shoot>Powerful enough to kill niggersIt just werks
>>64203941>>64208371Seconding the Glock. It was good enough for Gordon Freeman and it's good enough for me.
>>64203941None of that commonality shit will ever matter. You'll be far better off with an entirely different backup rifle than thinking you'll find a part to salvage a broken rifle, which really doesn't happen. You're far better off stocking your own ammo than thinking you're gonna come across caches of ammo, with somehow no gun that shoots that ammo sitting nearby. All this minmax larping is stupid, just buy what you like and don't bitch at others for taking advantage of diversity in the gun market. It's one of the few places diversity is good.
>>64203941An AR-15
>>64203941My WASR, runs like a raped ape and never jammed once. Irons aren't canted either. My favorite gun I own.
>>64203941Somewhere between my B-TM'd silenced 10/22 with a Leupold scope or my M4-ish AR with the same scope. Both just function, both are pretty practical, and the scope does its job holding zero and keeping groups small more than any other scope I've ever used. Even if the 10/22 cost twice as much, lol.
>>64208667I recognize that bench.>>64203941In that "money best spent" sense it's definitely my Winchester .22 lever gun. Bought it for one purpose - to have fun - and it's perfect at it. Puts smile on my face, darling of novice shooters and range boomers alike. I'm euro so lever guns are not that common around here, making it a conversation starter as well.
>>64208371>>64208382Same. G19
>>64203941My Sino-Soviet sks. It's not the prettiest girl or the most tack driving accurate but it fits my hand like it was born there and decades with a gun will make you work on her shortcomings and forgive her sins.
>>64204446>pheasantanon, there is an extra H in there, the word you spelled implies a bird lol
>>64208581>None of that commonality shit will ever matter. You'll be far better off with an entirely different backup rifle than thinking you'll find a part to salvage a broken rifle, which really doesn't happen. You know you can just buy the parts themselves instead of another complete rifle, right? granted, nothing wrong with a backup rifle, it's just that having a very common gun means that replacement parts are readily available and cheap.>You're far better off stocking your own ammo than thinking you're gonna come across caches of ammo, with somehow no gun that shoots that ammo sitting nearby.i mean yeah, thats pretty obvious. The thing is, stocking up on ammo is a lot easier when its a commonly produced round like .22lr, 9mm, 55.6/.223, and 12 gauge.>All this minmax larping is stupid, just buy what you like and don't bitch at others for taking advantage of diversity in the gun market. It's one of the few places diversity is good. This is what i like you dork, and I'm not bitching at people just by the virtue of posting a thread about more practical guns. I agree that diversity is good, especially during ammo shortages, but having more common guns isn't a bad thing.. Also, i can't help but to point out that your previous arguments are based purely on some fantasy SHTF scenario despite the fact that nobody mentioned them before, yet I'M somehow the larper. Do you even own firearms?
>>64203941So really, its my suppressed 6920 set up for night shoots, but for its weight my Daewoo really appeals to me. It is nice to lean down on the accessories
>>64209245heh
>>64203941Currently it is a BRN-180 18" with a PA 2.5x prism optic. It is basically an AR, only because it has a folding stock I can stow it in a tennis racket bag optic and all. Ran a match with it just last weekend. I sucked at it, but not because of any deficiency with the rifle.Other than that, my Mossberg 500 ATP does basically everything a shotgun can be asked to do. This might involve swapping barrels between the 18.5" and 28", but if you don't have a shotgun get a Mossberg combo or at least a Maverick 88 one. You are sorely missing out if you don't.I have a fuckload of pistols but the most useful is an old 3rd gen Glock 23 with a dot and conversion barrels for 9mm and 357 Sig. I don't enjoy it as much as the other goofier models I have, but it has always delivered the goods and then some.
>>64203941bolt action 22 like a CX or brnoboltaction scoped 270 like a savage or anything there are ,anysemi auto or side by side shotgun like a old winchester, beretta or an english hammer gun but a moden semi that can eat anything from steel shot super mags down to dove loads with interchangeable chokes that can do slugs is better, side by sides are great to carry broken while out in the rough though and are lighter
>>64212033Its practically useles dsfor hitting flying birds or small game, which it won't hit if its running and will blow apart and spoil the meat. Nice try tacilarper urbanite. The only thing that is good for is fireteam based suppress and manouve warfare in 400M contact lines.
>>64212033You can always spot a larper when they put a silencer on a semi automatic gun built around a supersonic calibre and animals come out at dusk and dawn not nightA fucking air rifle is more practical than that
>>64212094Yeah I don't hunt birds, but I disagree with you on small to mid sized game. But based on the OP criteria, my 6920 does win on ammo/parts, ease of maintenance, reliability, and I am effective with it. >>64212106I don't recall the OP saying what is the best rifle you have for hunting animals.>calibreopinion disregarded
>>64203941My most practical/utilitarian firearm is a Ruger 556 with a Sig Romeo dot and backup irons. I own it for the sole purpose of dispatching multiple targets quickly if the need ever arises. I was in Indianapolis for the St Floyd riots. I lived near the circle. I'll be damned if I'll ever feel under gunned again. I keep seven mags loaded, and I can put every single shot into a 6 inch circle at 100 yards all day long. 17/20 into a 4 inch circle. It isn't fun to shoot because it's soulless, and utterly easy to operate and get good groups with. That's not a bad thing, and I don't want to make it sound like it is. It's just soulless and no real fun. Also a pain in the ass to clean. But it's a very good gun, that is very well suited to my needs. I take it to the range just often enough to keep myself familiar with its operation, to not neglect it. TeaBeeAhche, I don't like owning it, not for the reason I do. But I'll be damned if I'm going to opt for the alternative.
>>64203941nice collection brah>>64208382based.
S&W M&P sport 15 is a solid budget rifle. Put like easily 1k rounds through and its never jammed
>>64203941I actually own 2 of every gun so in the event of a SHTF collapse I can use one as parts for the other if things start to breakI have two ruger 10/22s. Good for hunting small game, the ammo is virtually free, and a 22 can still kill someone if you really need to.2 556s because they can fire 556 or 223. No specific brand for this, local gunshop put them together had them on sale for a reasonable amount and I bought them both2 shockwaves. I like their size and ease of use. If I'm shooting long range I'll use a rife, not a shotgun. the shockwave is easy to move around inside the house2 9mms (taurus g3c) cheap as dirt, reliable. Never had a single malfunction in thousands of rounds2 1911s in 45acp2 bodyguard 2.0s2 357 686sas a bonus I also have two hunting air rifles that shoot ~1450fps. Perfect for small game like squirrels or even rabbits and the ammo is so cheap it's a joke. I have 5 or 10 thousand hunting pellets for them I got for about $100 off amazon
>>64212120Not those anons but I was actually considering buying a nu-Daewoo and throwing a silencer on to hunt coyotes, maybe foxes as well. Actually not a bad choice IMO; folds, has a reasonable barrel length, adjustable gas, can throw a scope on the rail. Silencer either gets me happy with reduced volume or at least reduces the volume more than nothing; either I'll accept.
