Been a while since I've seen a lube thread on /k/. Finished cleaning some guns after doing some shooting on labor day and noticed in getting low on the weapon shield oil I've been using for a while. Found out they went out of business, got bought out, came back with the "same great formula" that wasn't the same, then seem to have disappeared again. So what's everyone using? Yes I know it's all snake oil. I just like the autistic arguing over which is best
I also use this as my main lubricant, but am down to my last bottle (granted, I just opened it). What else do you use/recommend for when my supply eventually dries up?
>>64204173>autistic spergingCoomlube is the perfect thing for you then. You can get it from moka.
>>64204215Previously I used breakfast clp for cleaning followed by Lucas extreme duty oil / grease for lubrication. I still have some left that I'll likely switch back to>>64204239I have a bottle I bought a few years ago when it was briefly on Amazon. Haven't gotten around to really testing it let but likely will before I current oil runs out.
motor oil number one
>>64204173currently and for the foreseeable future, i have Hoppes' elite cleaner and Lucas' extreme duty oiltell me how wrong i am and how my balls are destined to stick to my legs or something.
>>64204305I've never used the elite cleaner, only the elite oil. Wasn't bad, a little thinner than I like. We'll all end up with cancer from this shit either way lol
>>64204305>how my balls are destined to stick to my legsI mean, that's gonna happen regardless of what solvent/lube you use on your guns.Ed's Red mix and ballistol are my go to's, but I've used and will use whatever is on hand. >>64204313>We'll all end up with cancer from this shit either wayI've been wearing nitrile gloves for anything solvent related since i started working on cars decades ago. I'll get it the old fashioned way, smoking and drinking.
How much oil does it need to fuel the hasguns of /k/?
>>64204173Breakfree CLP for everything. Lubing, cleaning, cooking, bathing, jerking off, everything.
>>64204173>I just like the autistic arguing over which is bestUnironically coomoil from Moka/Lubeanon. The rust protection is amazing too. Probably a bit overkill for most people, but it's not like having rust protection that is too good is a bad thing.
>>64204173grabbed some mineral oil the other day ago, gonna be using it once i run out of what i'm currently using (Clenzoil)nothing wrong with clenzoil, its just a bit costly, so i feel bad when i have to waste it when i rub off excess - not a problem with cheapo mineral oil though (its also perfectly safe to handle too)i'll still use clenzoil's grease however, no reason to skimp out on quality with something precious like a safequeen
I've used many different oils over the years and never had a problem with any of them. At the moment I've got the following scattered around my workbench and shop:-jumbo aerosol can of Aero Kroil (nearly empty)-rectangle can & aerosol Eezox-an ancient can of rem oil-mini spray can of Tri-Flow-squeeze bottle of ALG 'go juice' thin grease-tube of Lucas #2 red & tacky grease-Lucas gun oil in needle-tipped bottle-Sea Foam Deep Creep
>>64204363My only gripe with clp as lubricant is how thin it is, and how it seems to evaporate rather quickly. If I haven't shot a particular gun in a while, I shouldn't have to relubricate it before taking it out. I'm wary of any product that claims to both clean and lubricate. They tend to perform ok, but not really excell in either area, especially lacking in lubrication
>>64204502Try coom. Haven't had to relube in a year and it's still wet.
>>64204502Odd, I sprayed down a bolt with CLP and it was still wet a month later.
Hoppes. Always and forever. It just werkz
If it's good enough for my Tacoma, it's good enough for my rifle. White Lithium Grease for anything that needs something thicker (AK and M14). For less than $10 I have enough product to last a lifetime. Simple as...I will say, when it comes to specialty stuff, FP10 or CLP is good for a cleaner, and Hoppes #9 is still to go-to for barrels, but for lube, nothing beats some good ole synthetic motor oil.
>>64204260I can confirm from my guns sitting for about a year and a half that germautists' spermatolube stays on the parts and maintains lubricity for extended periods of time.As for the boron particulate, if its good or bad or what, no idea. Would need to beg my company owner for access to their defunct chemlab's electroscopy machine to make 10000x closeups.
>>64205562>electroscopyI swear I'm developing dementia.Scanning electron microscope.
>>64204373>>64205466I use this. Seems to be okay on rubber seals, too, though I have had several air rifles have seals that failed over the years so maybe I'm wrong. 30+ year old nitrile/rubber, though, and seals that probably sat a good 15+ of those years only to be oiled and put right back into use again for thousands of rounds and easily on average ~7 pumps/shot. Not the greatest at preventing rust (I'm actually using a grease for that until I can get coomlube) but that's life.
>>64204305You are wrong and your balls are destined to get licked by that fox or something.>>64205562>>64205572At least you don't need access to their endoscopy machine. Unless...>captcha: OMG RX
>>64204173I have 3 well more? Ewl2k, clp, honing, mineral, and my greases are well ewl2k, clp, mobil 28 and white lithium
>>64204173I use red synthetic grease and clenzoil.
>>64205679>Seems to be okay on rubber seals, tooAs long as the oil is full synthetic it should be fine against any plastic or rubber though, right? I mean obviously it'll leave a film, but it won't deteriorate it.
>>64204542Nah it drys white and nasty probably protects still tho.
>>64205748You must experience an ungodly number of malfunctions. No, don't reply, I don't want to hear your excuses or handwaving about how it doesn't happen.
>>64206542this nigger is just mad he can't buy four years worth of grease for two dollars
>>64204173Step aside, zoomer shits.
>>64207450>Sperm oil
>>64207450>banana oilSo THAT'S why Hoppe's smells like that?!>>64208202>29.5oz sperm oil>one quart is 32ozGet jerkin!
>>64207450>>64208202>Nitro-solvents requiring sperm oilSo THAT's why Glock had that whole horse thing going on.
>>64205748How about engine assembly lube?
Lucas extreme temp gun oil has been my daily. Doesn’t run and doesn’t get too stiff in winter
>>64204173The car industry, by the sheer quantity of engine oil required, makes gun oil a scam. “Gun” oil is designed to evaporate so you have to keep reapplying it, while engine oil will stay there till the day you die. “Buttttt it’s designed for my gunerino” stfu dumb nigger, 5 minutes at 3000rpm has more metal on metal piston action than your gun will ever do in its entire lifetime. And your car can drive well past 10000 miles before an oil change is recommended. Car Oil is amazing.
>>64208571the only issue with car oil, is that it can have other stuff that'll damage finishes &/or attract fod that normally wouldn't be in a car, but is common with gunsso you still should be picky, but only by choosing something that has essentially no additives whatsoever
All other answers are wrong

>>64204348What does coom do better than 15W-40 Rotella T6?
My cleaning regiment is as follows and it has worked for 18 years and counting.>dry old undershirts cut into washcloth sized sections wiping down every part reasonably reachable via a field strip>soak carbon on parts with hoopes 9 solvent>breakfree clp on everything else>start with the least fouled surface and clean starting with undershirt sections moving up to nylon and then copper and finally brass brushes as necessary.>do the same with the bore (exceptions with prs guns)>wipe everything down with undershirt cloths/patches until clean and dry>breakfree clp on everything that rolls, pivots, or cams>locktite C5-A on anything that slides, or runs on rails>reassemble>function testSimple, and it just werks
>>64210100Isn't C5-A used by Glock to induce wear on brand new handguns? Why do you use it?
>>64209929I produce motor oil at work, nothing wrong but nothing good in there. Motor oils cant contain good chemicals in high enouth concentrations to be GOAT. Price needs to be so fucking cheap that it pays the bill for chemicals, production side, adversing, the margin of reseller, transportanzion and so on. TDLR its junk you buy for expensiv. CoomOil is expensiv, no limitation of raw chemicals (1bottle is like >0,5L motor oil). A more premium product are HEES hydraulic oils, lil modification and youvget real based chenucals for gun oil

I shoot mainly milsurp and I just use ballistol for everything. Lubrication, inhibiting rust, leather slings, cleaning dirty stocks. Truly God's lubricant.
