>>64204592Your first 1911 should be a full-sized 5" 45 ACP single stack. Those are the most reliable, have the most aftermarket support, and they're also slim enough to conceal. Learn on one of those before you start deviating from the original design with different barrel lengths, calibers and double stack mags. Get something like a Springfield Garrison that already has most of the upgrades you would want out of the box like improved sights, extended safety, flat mainspring housing, and beavertail. Other customizations like improved grips and and extended magazine release are easy enough to put on yourself.

If I remember correctly RIA has a bunch of other better suited 1911s that you might like.
