The second.Manual action guns are fine, especially in the guerilla warfare that would be taking place in SHTF.

If there are no large predators to worry about and 2 legged threats are minimal then there's a case to be made for the efficiency of rimfire for hunting small game. But, again, it really depends on the exact location whether that is feasible or not.

It's not like game stands around and lets you take multiple shots at it like in a video game. Gun goes off everything fucking bolts. the answer is always #2.
