the range i go to has their targets set to 25 yards and i miss so much i can't even shoot a group, and leave just a handful of hits out of a full mag. i tried bringing a laser with me today to see if i was aiming the weapon properly but it was so bright outside i couldn't see the dot. i also tried with my other pistol with an optic installed but the fucking thing loses zero constantly and i also installed my iron sights myself so i can't tell if they're properly aligned.

>>64208730check the footingcheck the gripdon't "decide" when to shoot and pull the full trigger lenght at once or you'll point the gun leftward in doing so, rather keep slowly pressing (with the first phalanx) as you keep adjustingif there's a supervisor at your range i refuse to beleive they'll just keep containing themselves from correcting you. also if it's a defense handgun 13 yards is the optimal for quick fire and quick aim
>>64209163that's why i dont like the 25 yard distance they set up, i dont see myself ever firing at someone from that distance with a pistol irl, though i know skilled shooters can definitely work at that range with no problems so i would like to eventually reach that level of proficiency as well. the range officers have come up and given me advice before but it was boomer crap that didn't help, like saying to prep my trigger pulling to the wall and working off the reset for follow up shots (stupid) or saying i shouldn't be wearing my gloves while im shooting because i 'wouldnt have time to put them on in real life' (wouldnt be putting on my goggles or ear muffs irl either). ive been trying to do gradual trigger pulls like ben stoeger says, and it does noticeably diminish the amount of twerking the gun down, somehow i often see my shots flying way out to the berm or the ground near the target. which stance is best for normal, still firing?
>>64208730Find another range with closer targets.
>>64208730Your sights if you installed them and didn't zero aren't aligned and you should try to figure out if you're hitting outside to one particular side of the target (ie zero is off), or if its just a skill issue. If it is aim you are probably anticipating the recoil/jerking the gun/tensing up as you fire/closing your eyes/flinching. Take it slow and don't try to counteract the recoil.Granted I don't know how big the target you are shooting at but with a full sized silhouette you should be able to land just about every shot somewhere on it if you take your time.
