Cadian gear and standards are the most common not because it's necessarily the best, but because it's the easiest to adopt and also because of the prestige that Cadians had. Many other Guard regiments style of doing things are prohibitively difficult to adopt. Look at the Firstborn, or the Catachan. You're some planetary governor somewhere, and you know that the harvest requires you to turn over dudes with a certain amount of training, and kit. Now, you could absolutely do some homegrown shit, but that's going to probably result in AdMech screeching due to their autism. Or you could simply adopt the ubiquitous standards of the Cadians and call it a day. They're basically the copycat legions of 40k. Granted, that's the lore reason (and it does make a certain amount of sense) but we all know the actual reason is that GW doesn't want to support 30 different regiment types and their associated models. It's easier to just focus on Cadians in the same way that everyone is Primaris now (except GK's).
