On July 16th 2023 at approximately 1500 PST a red latex balloon was released in front of the landing approach for the USAF runway located at Joint Base Lewis McChord in Washington State. The balloon was released before the Thunder Birds F-16 airshow. At approximately 1500 PST two F-15's took off to maintain air superiority. If anyone has the ability to query retail establishments sales records where helium filled balloons are sold, I implore you to search these databases to determine where this balloon might have originated. Any information regarding the whereabouts of current or former affiliates of the Viet Cong should be directed to the Thurston County Sheriffs Department.
