do you think shotgun+pistol is a good loadout for the upcoming ww3? or 223 bolt action + pistol is better?

ideally I'd carry both heavy birdshot (think goose/turkey loads) for drone defense, plus buck and slugs for antipersonnel.

>shotgun
yeah luckily all combatants are trained not to engage unless they're closer than 50yd to their target.

Just carry an AR if that’s your concern. Extremely capable and can be very light
>>
>>64213518
can't have an ar-15 in my country (unless it's in 22lr)
>>
>>64213519
Oh that sucks ass dude. Then yeah shot gun should be fine. It won’t be great in most situations but it’s versatile
>>
>>64213519
You really should lead with that
You can't have any semi-auto centerfire rifle?
>>64213490
Baller photo.
Shotguns are useful but you need to accept that your pistol will have longer range and any intermediate or full power rifle is going to smoke you if you show your head.

>do you think shotgun+pistol is a good loadout for the upcoming ww3? or 223 bolt action + pistol is better?
Yes. I'm assuming you live in a country where your only options for citizen firearm ownership are shotguns, bolt action rifles and some pistols. A .223 bolt action rifle with a suppressor would be fine as well. I'm assuming you live in a country which realizes suppressors are smart.
>ideally I'd carry both heavy birdshot (think goose/turkey loads) for drone defense, plus buck and slugs for antipersonnel.
What kind of shot can you get? Here in the US we get wild shit like Federal Black Cloud which I imagine will work as well, it not better, for drones as it does on game.
>>
>>64213490
In general I'd say pump shottie+pistol > bolt-action but ideally you'd have all three.
Say you're posting up in some bushes overlooking a choke point in the highway leading into your town, dropping a few shots into an enemy convoy then fucking off into a crowd of civvies, sniping a traitor through his living room window or providing overwatch from an apartment building overlooking a group of friendly protestor ... all jobs much better suited to a rifle than a shotgun.

Disgusting br*ts should not be allowed to prepare.

>upcoming ww3?
If you suspect you are going to fight enemy soldiers (they have training and decent equipment), then more range is better; you'll be wishing you had a precise bolt-action gun in a cartridge that can touch people far away (and some training and experience with long-range shooting too). If you suspect you are going to fight criminals, bandits, poachers, etc., then a shotgun is great.

>>64213706
We know he's not British because they are not allowed autoloading pistols.
>>
>>64213712
probably the enemy will be a mix of criminals, agitators, anarchists and infiltrators. Bolt action with 223 seems like a good choice knowing I could get ammo easily. In 2019 we defended with a pellet rifle but things won't be as easy coming next year.
Maybe operate as a two man team one with rifle and the other with shotgun?
>>
>>64213737
>. In 2019 we defended with a pellet rifle
Where the fuck are you from?
>>
>>64213490
Where’d you get that woodland hat?
>>
>>64213741
Chile

>>64213599
yeah point defense seems like the ideal use for a rifle. but if infiltrators manage to enter our perimeter well have to start hunting them down from house to house, in that case a shotgun seems like a better idea.

it might be a case of "just get both".

>>64213742
it's a pic I got from google, it's not actually my gear.
>>
>>64213750
>Chile
Damn, I don't know shit about your gun environment m8 sorry

>Just get both
Unless it's prohibitively expensive or legally difficult I'd absolutely do that. Hell, I'd get a good semi .22 rifle as well. A rimfire can isn't difficult to slap together and it would be extremely useful in city or jungle.

>>Damn, I don't know shit about your gun environment m8 sorry
basically like the UK + handguns.

>>Unless it's prohibitively expensive or legally difficult I'd absolutely do that.
When you buy a gun you can also use the same documents to but more or renew your ownership of other guns. My pistol ownership expires in December so I'm planing to buy 2 firearms extra as well as renewing my pistol. I already have a 22 semi (A tippmann M4-22), but I wouldn't trust it much for defense, even with hyper-speed ammo. It's good for training tho, and I've been shooting IPSC Mini Rifle and steel challenge for some while with it.
>>
>>64213519
i guess you are going to need a bandoiler belt and call it good enough.
>>
>>64213737
>Maybe operate as a two man team one with rifle and the other with shotgun?
Operating in teams is always better. Small teams if you want to be quick, large teams if you want to be a force to be reckoned with.
>Bolt action with 223
I know it's more expensive, but if you have really good aim then consider a rifle in .308 instead. Average shooters can touch targets 600-800 yards with that round and great shooters can reach 1,000 yards. On the other hand, you'll struggle at 500+ yards with a .223, the wind just shoves it around too much.

>>64213750
>it might be a case of "just get both".
Not a bad idea. Personally, get some guns for your loved ones too (in this hypothetical WW3 scenario, of course; I am not recommending you buy a gun for someone else illegally).
>>
>>64213783
>IPSC Mini Rifle and steel challenge for some while with it.
That's honestly pretty cool anon, most people here don't shoot, let alone SCSA/IPSC/Etc...
What pistol do you have?
Can you get a semi auto shotgun?
>>
>>64213519
>Oh no, that won't work in MY COUNTRY, I'm not allowed the simple solutions you suggested because of simple information I deliberately chose not to include. In MY COUNTRY the thing I suggested and then asked for advice about is already the ideal and correct solution. In MY COUNTRY everything you suggest will magically be suggested to artificially extend this conversation in this thread by getting more replies.
Oh, it's one of thoes threads
>>
>>64213490
If you have to go bolt action for a rifle get a full power round for it, 7.62 NATO or bigger
Increased capacity and lower recoil of .223 doesn't mean shit when it's not semi-auto
A civi with limited arms is going to be much more dangerous as a make do sniper than infantry
Get the shotgun to defend your home if you don't think you'll be playing offense
>>
>>64213490
>birdshot for drone defense
I'd be genuinely curious if that would be effective or not?
>>
>>64214421
Why wouldn't it be?
Drone propellers are pretty fragile and just knocking one of them out of action can send a drone spiralling off into the ground.
>>
>>64214421
The shot is effective, small drones are made to be light and disposable, the hard part is hitting them, because they are fast as fuck and don't fly straight like a clay
>>
>>64214421
OFC it would easily take out a small drone. The problem is hitting one since birdshot has terrible range.
