Two R-77-1s, one R-77M, and one R-37M carried by a Su-35. Why not just carry three R-77Ms instead of the R-77-1s?

They don’t have enough of them for that, if I had to guess the R-77M/R-37M are reserved for if it runs into a MiG-29 or F-16 and the others are for shooting down attack planes or helicopters. The newer variants, especially post-Soviet ones, require more advanced electronics they may have difficulty sourcing locally.

R-77M is in production since 2 years and is more expensive, R-77-1 since 11
