This is a gentle reminder that the LRASM is currently the most advanced ASM in the world
>>
Sure, but it's useless without magnets

When will we use this on drug smugglers. Would be fun
>>
>>64215000
More like a waste of money, their boats don't even have radar lol
>>
>>64215058
Still would be neat

by what metrics? range and stealth?
the NSM is pretty advanced too
>>
>>64214837
Fucking magnets, man. How do they work?
>>64215112
Not OP, but I would say range, payload, precision and survivability to target with likely be the standard for measurement. I'm sure you can include other things like AI targeting ability or data networking with other missiles maybe.
>>
>>64215112
Stealth, range, networking capabilities, just an all around better missile than the admittedly good NSM
>>
>>64215112
The NSM doesn’t even compare to the LRASM
>>
>>64215112
The LRASM is too stealthy to be spotted
>>
ASM or AShM?
Which acronym is preferred?

I thought satan himself would know that already
>>
I knew our local retard was here, he just autistically spergs the same ice cream boat and JASSM shit.

90% of the thread will be samefagging, you are warned.

It's better than the chinkshills and the Malay schizo
>>
>>64216666
I don’t think it matters

Is this a coping mechanism?
>>
>>64216810
Don't think so, if we run low on ours we can use theirs. We're all friends here.

We are absolutely not friends with the euros

No matter how you spin it NATO is stronger than any meme defense or trade alliance out there combined. A little banter from Orange man isn't going to change that.

lmfao

Man if only the US produced its own magnets for use in defense purposes instead of all the cheap fucking garbage that goes into disposable civilian goods wouldn't that be fucking embarrasing.

For me it's the frogs's Exocet. Subsonic missiles are gay. For the look, Taiwan Hsiung Feng III nails the "my missile is a missile that does missile stuff"
>>

Bong ships couldn’t defend against this.
>>

Everything beyond range and warhead is just guessing about classified specs.
But at the end of the day, comparing something like the NSM and the LRASM is like comparing apples to oranges
>>
>>64216666
The uncapitalized letter feels more Soviet or, forgive me, British. So only the bad guys have AShMs, we have ASMs.
>>
>>64216666
"Ash 'em!" sounds cooler.
>>
>>64219558
LRASM has passive emission detection, advanced long range datalinks and automatic radar evasion which the NSM lack.
>>
>>64220112
I think datalinks are something that cannot be understated
>>
>>64218287
>For me it's the frogs's Exocet.

So which is it?
>>
>>64220118
For shorter ranges the datalinks aren't that important unless you're coordinating salvos for the same time on target, they can give you better BDA and situational awareness but they're not essential. For longer range missiles, especially slower ones, they are quite important for midcourse corrections as the targets are moving. That's one of the reasons soviets invested into supersonic missiles - you can get more effective range out of a fast missile because it clears more distance in the same time period that a ship has to change its position and move outside of the targeted area where the missile can detect it.

Another use for datalinks is controlling the target ID to avoid hitting bystanders or other ships that you're not aiming at but LRASM and supposedly NSM do have ship classification capabilities that already help with that.

Exocet was fucking terrifying. It was to Cold War ships what dronefags wish FPVs were to tanks. Literally everybody had it and you didn't even have to be at war to be hit without warning (USS Stark).
>>
>>64220151
In the gay subsonic range, the Exocet.
In the supersonic range, Taiwan missiles are underrated
>>
>>64223915
I wish Taiwan could export them so they can afford to make more but then the Changs will get their hands on one and figure out how to counter them.
