Are there any videos of people using these ladder iron sights? They go out to ridiculous ranges
>>64217112>They go out to ridiculous rangesIts for volley fire. No individual soldier could accurately engage a target at those distances.
>>64217133OPs image is an aircraft sight, not for volley fire. Here's a blog that shows how they're used, it's actually really interesting:https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2015/03/09/how-the-anti-aircraft-sights-on-the-bolt-action-type-99-arisaka-worked/

>>64217184What are you talking about? That's a 1917 with a peep/ladder sight.
>>64217112literally all rifles after the advent of smokeless powder had ridiculous ranges on the sights because it was the "effective" range
Boomers make hits at 1000 yards with 45-70 models.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4AI0vk-M1c
>>64217112I*'ve shit with them on a gew 88 out to five hundred meters and on a snnider out too 300 and I've hit at 600 the majotiry out of 10 at 600 as well as others and my eyes are not perfect anymore. On the match rifkles I have like gibs and kerr they deliver fine at 800 yards with globe vernier sights They work and I don't doubt that volley fire would have been very useful at 100 yard rangesrange
>>64217184The "aircraft" part of that sight are the two tabs sticking out to the side. The part sticking up is the long range ladder sight. OP's M1917, you might notice, does *not* have the aircraft sights.
>>64217184it's actually quite interesting how retarded you are
>>64217112Years ago I saw a video of a guy trying to make a record for the longest shot using iron sights. He had a K-31 rifle, ladder sights, and a target 2,200 yards away. It took about half an hour for him to be able to hit the target consistently, but he did it.
