G'day /k/ while I wait on my permit to aquire, I'll be chasing up a front sight tool for adjusting dovetailed front sights as I don't want to guess the amount of foce to hit the sight with a hammer and soft punch..I'm also chasing a relatively cheap sighting stand.Another question is would I wreck my rear sight elevator by using spring loaded punch to mark different elevations or at lest two points (say 20/25m, 50, and 100m for 22lr) and the rest is guesstamation based on how many notches are inbetween.Pic is a smle front sight tool.
>>64217231Nigga just use a brass punch and any type of hammer or gunsmithing mallet. Brass is softer than steel and won't warp it, cover it with masking tape if you don't want brass marks.
>>64217265I don't want to guess the force of hammer blows,Lead sled is sorted, make a stand out of timber and adjust by the butt stock with sand bags.
>>64217282>I don't want to guess the force of hammer blows,There's no penalty for getting it wrong. >I hit the sight and it didn't move!hit it harder next time>I hit the sight too hard and it moved too far!hit it back the other way.>that sounds scawwwyhow do you expect to learn without doing? and why are you fearful of a situation where there are no negative consequences?
>>64217231>soft punch..just use a case senpai
>>64217322This. You could even use a micrometer to measure it for fucks sake. >>64217282You understand you will overadjust regardless zeroing, right?
The gun is perfect. Leave it alone.
