Air defenses didn't make aircraft obsolete. It's just another threat to counter for planners. Nothing moves as fast or goes bang as big and enduring as a tank. Until there is a substitute that combines mobility, endurance, and firepower tanks will continue to exist- even if their role is diminished or limited in scope.
