How many peasants could these guys btfo before succumbing to the sheer plebbitry of their opponents?
>>64224890Depends on how organised and well equipped the peasants are.
>>64224890it depends on so many factors that you could never get any numberit could be as little as one, if he gets brained in the back by a really big rock after he got stuck in waist deep mudit could be as many as dozens if not hundreds, as he rides them down on his war horse

>>64224890A 15th century yeoman peasant freeman would likely BTFO of an 11th century knight
In Medieval Total War 2, there was a bug where if you got the max armour upgrade for peasant units (half-plate, back when the game visually changed the appearance of the unit based on the armour level) they would destroy a max armour upgrade (full plate) unit of foot knights. Was funny.
>>64224904killing him is a waste of damn good money. these guys were used to being ransomed when they lost.
>>64224963Heavy cavalry charges in that game were kino. Few games have caused me so much frustration and anguish but damn, when it was good it was probably the most fun I've ever had with a computer game.
>>64224890Dog pile then knife to the ol’ thinker
>>64224890Weren't peasants in England required to keep their own arms back in the day so they could readily serve as levies?
>>64224898No, it depends on whether the peasants have any dikes to flood. Any number of peasants would be massacred by a couple hundred professional soldiers in a "fair" fight at any point in history.
>>642249632 handed attacks in M2TW would be so slow that peasants armed with dirks could stab spam 2 handed units to stunlock them making them totally useless
>>642248903
>>64225780Fair fights don't exist. Everyone tries to plays to their advantage and tries to negate the possible advantage of their enemies.
>>64225780The Battle of Visby is telling. 2k kraut mercs vs 2k farmers with a kdr of 300:2000. In the early 16th century mercs would have been even better armed and armored and peasants would be more or less the same.
>>64224890I don't know, maybe like six guys
>>64225304No, you're thinking of burghers.
>>64226234>Fair fights don't exist.I mean, I'd say they exist incidentally. Every so often you end up with comparable armies engaging each other in a nice flat area on a sunny day.
>>64225304Almost. The english longbowmen were sourced from the Yeoman class, which were free, land owning peasants. And Yeomans (or their equivalents in continental Europe) were expected to be armed as every free man had to do their martial duty. When those online discussions occur people don't define the term "peasant" and usually mean unfree, not land owning farmers. But there were free peasants and those had a military function. >>64228669A battle occurs because one side can't retreat despite their disadvantage, the other side is forced to attack despite their disadvantage or both sides think that they have the advantage.
