used in Russia vs Ukraine chimpout?

90% china, ukraine started some companies to assemble the flight controllers at least but i really doubt they are producing the chips and complex components, im sure they can produce resistors and common electrical stuff though.

remember that it started in 2022 with hobbyist kits, they used what was available to the public, since then they made it part of their military complex and its not like 2022 but it isnt like they can create a chip industry in 2 years, maybe they can produice motors they dont seem as complex though, not sure.

but batteries 100% imported
chips 100% imported
electronic stuff 100% imported
electrical stuff local

like most things in everywere except north korea different components are sourced from different sources, so nothing is 100% build in the same country , maybe asemble

Me. In my garage. I am now rich beyond my wildest dreams. But it is a labor of love for me. I do it because every dead slav makes the world a better place

Many of the components are commodities in current year with multiple companies using the same IP (chip designs reusable as building blocks to design your own chips) or compatible modules. Once you produce your own boards, carbon fiber frames then the parts price isn't that important, most of the cost of electronic gadgets aren't in the basic parts but design, manufacturing and integration.
There're 2 bottlenecks though, the (rare earth) magnets for the motors and batteries, China has a quasi-monopoly on both, they control the sale if it's for dual purpose (weapons). Even if they make the modules or motors the basic components still come from China. But those don't use "military grade magnets", just simple neodymium magnets that China sells without problem. Batteries are replaceable, in theory, but their LiFePO4 are the de facto standard because realistically nobody is replacing them (manufacturing gap and patent blockade).

Things like thermals vary but AFAIK Ukraine replaced the small uncooled cameras with their own that works better than aliexpress thermals.

A lot of the localization was a necessity rather than just a protection against sanctions, during 2023 their demand for drones was already higher than the capacity of small aliexpress sellers and that means a premium in prices.
