Is all 147 grain subsonic?
What about 147 grain +p+(all 147 grain basically) or do I need subsonic specifically?

If I shoot my G17 & PDP side by side the PDP is noticeably snappier. I know how to shoot doubles at 25yds so it's not a skill issue, fuck you. Should I get a 15lb recoil spring and brass shit for the PDP or give up on it and just shoot the 17
>>
>>64227923
>Is all 147 grain subsonic?
It should be out of a handgun HOWEVER the ones NOT labeled as being subsonic like the speer 147gr are noticeably louder than ammo labeled as being subsonic in my experience. My favorite ammo for shooting suppressed is 150gr federal syntech it sounds great and I get slightly less gas to the face.
>>
>>64227947
This is a universal complaint about the PDP
>>
>>64227947
I think Joel Park/Nick Young have said that a lower poundage recoil spring goes a long way towards making the PDP less snappy, but OTOH Hwansik Kim said it’ll still always be a bit more forceful than a Glock.

You should buy all of the aftermarket PDP stuff and experiment with it for the benefit of /hg/, though. We’re scientists, here.

USPSA match went... worse than I'd hoped.

Lots of penalties. Forgot many targets, shot once with foot OOB, and missed a mandatory reload on a classifier where an extra five seconds hurts a lot. My splits are still slow, but my movement is marginally improved. At least I didn't almost have heat stroke.

I think I might want to actually eat breakfast on Match day, not just my usual of a protein bar and a cuppa. Further, I think I need to make a point of insisting on using my chance to rehearse every stage when I have it. I tend to half-ass it and get out of the way of the rest of the squad.

Are you happy with that Trijicon?
What optic plate are you using?
I almost bought a Holosun but I like to space my firearms purchases out a little, but I'm wondering if the Trijicon is worth the extra ~300 or whatever.
I want another couple/few microdots for my rifles and cc as well.

>>
>>64227968
I don’t shoot USPSA or anything really, but have you read Ben Stoeger’s “practical shooting reloaded”. He goes over many skills needed for competitive shooting like stage planning, how to set up your belt, etc.

It’s not super in-depth but I think it’s a good reference in taking your shooting to a dynamic match.

The ACE VR shooting simulator can also help, where it tries to simulate match conditions. You have to stage plan, do mandatory reloads, follow USPSA rules about the 180, etc
>>
>>64227983
I have the Langdon Tactical optic cut on my gun, not the Beretta OEM cut.

The SRO is a great optic, it being circular pleases my autism. I’ve carried it, never dropped it, never had a problem. It does have a reputation of being fragile since it is. If you don’t care about where the dot is made, the Holosun 507Comp is a better deal.

Considering a Vortex just because theyre American made tbqh I just prefer the 32moa circle dot on the Holosun I think they have better reticles especially the comp version with all of the options in circle size.

Green helps with my astigmatism and looks cooler imo but it washes out in really bright light too much.

Doing quality controll since 2 weeks and those slide oils are brutal tacky and vsicous, like 10-15x of normal gun oil. Find used one. I picked up a "custom" 1978 1911 for 800 and it runs like a raped ape, it was worked over by some gunsmith but there is no paperwork for it - while other 1911s from the same estate sale were from known smiths.
I regularly search gunbroker with "custom 1911 -kimber" where is searches for 1911s that have "custom" in the listing while filtering out all kimbers that call themselves custom. This will miss some things but will capture some weird custom guns

Buy Colt 1911, new or of vintage like your picture. Send to 1911 smith, you may have local ones but there are several shops.

look at this, I shouldn't post it since I'm actually interested in it. A huge negative would be if the barrel is not ramped, the lack of chamber support with 10mm prevents you from shooting higher power ammo. But I think standard 180 gr 1200FPS loads should be fine

New gun day for me today. Pretty excited for this one. Used, got it for 1300$ but it came with a lot of extras.. Came with a Redding die set. 98 handloaded rounds, 118 Hornady factory 460 rounds, 40 rounds of Magtech factory 454 casull, 4 rounds of Barnes factory 454, 30 pieces of 454 brass fired, and 38 pieces of 460 brass fired, 2000 large pistol magnum primers, and a box of 50 Hornady ftx bullets in .452 for 454 or 460.

So I’m fucking thrilled. The 2000 large pistol magnum primers primers are weird since 460 specs large rifle. But I have large rifle magnum primers and I’m just about out of large pistol mag primers. So that works for me.

Not at all. Still need to clean them, and they still need to be lubed. And if / when something goes wrong with them, they're far more complicated than a semi auto.

>>64232062
Not exactly. You can probably neglect them more than an autoloader but if you are firing regularly they still need regular maintenance as stated by the Anon above

>>
>>64232062
Nope. Keep your revolver extremely clean so all the parts run smoothly. The mechanism is more complex than the average autoloader and there are more things to jam from dirt.

Autoloaders need good ammo, revolvers need good owners. "Failure to clean" is the most common revolver malfunction.

what are must dos and dont dos my first visit on the range
>>
>>64232604
Unless you're going to an outdoor range, you'll probably have to watch a gun safety video before you sign a waiver. Just pay attention to the video.
>>
>>64232604
Do ask the range what their rules are. Don’t take your gun out until you know what the rules are.
>>
>>64232604
Wave your weapons around wildly and fire them in all directions
>>
>>64232604
Read and follow the rules of the particular range you go to
Some places have weird rules and will ban things you'd assume are ok, like drawing from holster or rapid fire.
In general, point guns downrange, a habit I developed from a hot/cold range is to just always remove magazine and lock back slide, or leave revolver with open empty cylinder if I put a gun aside.
Be mindful about what is behind the paper target, don't shoot the floor or ceiling indoors (it might be behind the target), or above the backstop outdoors.

The indoor range I go to with my dad actually told him at one point that the bullets were supposed to hit the (concrete) floor before hitting the bullet trap so they wouldn't be going too fast. Reasonably sure that's horseshit and just something they tell people so they're less likely to hit the pulleys/hangers and the ceiling which is less bullet resistant than the floor. Though they could still hit the ceiling after hitting the floor if the target is close enough
>>

>>64233155

>>

They're able to shoot from within a concealing garment without jamming and they can be chambered in extremely large rounds for self-defense against bears and whatnot. Aside from that, no, there's very little reason to use a revolver over an automatic.

S&W CSX E series, aluminum frame SAO, not a 1911, you get the long barrel version and I think you can have up to 17 rounds in a similar width to a 1911

Kimber KDS9C, not a 2011 double stack 1911 like gun.

Kimber 2k11 Pro, 4.25 inch 2011, uses checkmate 20 rounders (same length as the 17 rounders). 2011s aren’t actually that much wider than a 1911 once you account for thicker grips usually used on 1911s

Appreciate the quick reply, few things; im not a fan of sw controls.... remember trying out a sheild some years ago.... my big fat fingers just have trouble with those tiny ass switches, and this looks similar

Also i'd really like to stay single stack, i think it's a big part of what makes the 1911 so comfortable and slim; unless those doublestaxks are somehow 1911 width, which i doubt as i got other pistols, doublestacks, and even the 9s are thicker than the 1911. Theres just something about the long barrel/thin profile with the 1911 that i really like for comfy carry and easy shooting

That kds9c looks kinda neat, prefer longer barrel and thinner singlestack

2k11 just looks... tacky. Might be a perfectly fine pistol but probably not for me...

Im just surprised that the whole longslide singlestack market isnt that big... everyone wants thicc subcompacts, am i weird for wanting this specific thing?

We already have enough problems from groids and illegal Glock switches, we as a society cannot have easily accessibly fully automatic guns. While more lethal, people cannot be accountable for every shot fired, you’re just spraying, many people just mash the trigger while mag dumping but they aren’t emptying a 17 round magazine in a second. It is unlikely for there to be bystanders in a self defense situation but the principal is still there, shooting randomly in a populated area is anti social behavior

Earlier our favorite punching bag faggot defended his poor accuracy potentially killing a random bystander as “well I was defending my life” as justification, now imagine giving that retard a fully automatic.

Again, nothing wrong with it, but the Glock 19 is basically the standard against which all guns are compared. You're unlikely to get your "perfect" gun on your first attempt so you might as well get a reliable gun that is good enough across the board with the best aftermarket available to screw around with and develop your tastes from there. This is arguably the biggest advantage of a revolver in a defensive role, but people always talk about boomer advice like shooting through a coat pocket. Civilian gunfights happen at a much closer distance than most people think, and a gun that's reliable at contact/grappling range is huge. J-frames are the GOAT backup gun for this reason.`

you understand the difference between objective measurements of recoil and time spent training? this is like handing someone a gun with a dot, and then arguing against a dot because they aren't immediately precise. i'm sure if you compared someone who's been regularly training with an FRT and someone who's never used one, you'd find that the trained individual was much better.

tldr just because something's unfamiliar or requires slightly more skill doesn't mean it's beyond reproach and that everyone should avoid them, like jesus this an ENTHUSIAST gun forum, be ENTHUSED cunt

>>64237236
>the entire industry around building Glocks without Glock grip angles.
Which amounts to "oh wait, plastic is a sufficient material to hold a slide and magazine even if you're not H&K". Basically none of them copy glock's action or any of their design besides being black and not using a hammer.

The safe action pseudo-DA system is neat, but it's not the only way to produce a striker fired pistol that can't fire unless the trigger is purposefully manipulated, and as soon as glocks were invented so too was an aftermarket industry built around making glocks less shit.
>>
>>64237415
Glocks are better than all of the other similarly-priced handguns, and they're better than all of the other striker-fired handguns. There are some hammer-fired guns that are better, but they're also twice as expensive.

>its not a slide release its a slide stop you're not meant to use it
>you're holding it wrong
>its special just dont shoot any other guns ever and you'll love the glock
>>
>>64237423
no it's a slide release anyone who tells you otherwise is an idiot lol as for the other two yeah glock is simply better
>>
>>64237422
By what metric? The slide's squared off profile makes for consistent and distinctive branding but a shitty CCW. The trigger system is cool from an engineering standpoint but not the best shooting or the only safe action on the block. Prices have gone up. Sights are still shitty plastic worse than every other mfg's standard issue (some even ship with tritums standard). The grip angle must be trained around and invalidates every other gun. There's a stupid depression/shelf that encourages the wrong grip. The magazines are stupid and give up capacity just to be plastic. I could go on.
>>
>>64237435
there also needs to be a trigger guard undercut as well
>>
>>64237435
it's more reliable and shoots better and has a better aftermarket very simple
>>
>>64237371
No, but he mass reported everyone that argued with him and I caught a 3 day ban.

Glawk full kydex holsters have a hump smoother edged pistols don’t when it goes around the slide.
>>
Hk > Glock
>>
>>64237513
do you only know glocks from half life 1? they're probably some of the 'smoothest' pistols on the market.
>>
>>64237415
>They are the last resort when an agency can not procure a better firearm for the same sum of cash.

Absolute cope. The Swiss outfit their soldiers with the most expensive small arms on earth, the SG550 series. Guess what? They also issue Glocks. Delta issues Glocks. SEALs issue Glocks.

They don’t do so because of budgetary constraints.
>>
>>64237612
Striker fired are ghey pistols aren't prioritized because they don't actually matter in the military if you need to use your pistol in the military you're basically ded at that point already theres nothing reason for the enemy to be at pistol distances.
Pistols are for civilians that can't carry around a 14" AR carbine in the Walmart.

Should I get this? I want an MOS glock 19 but can't find a deal on any of them. This seems like it could maybe be an okay price since it comes with a dot.
>>
>>64237722
Personally I think that pistol is good to go, concealed or even target shooting and I'm a Glawk hater.
I think eventually you'll settle on a subcompact and a full size in time like everyone else.
>>
>>64237728
my man I have alot of handguns already, I just don't have a glock 19 and want one that I can slap a red dot on
>>
>>64237722
>>64237728
Just make sure you have the oem plate for the optic cut included Id take that red dot off if I ever traded it in.
Also consider a threaded barrel when you inevitably want a supressor or compensator and save yourself a couple hundred bucks
>>
>>64237735
I've got an M9 for a suppressor host and I don't intend to ever screw around with compensators, I'd just go for a ported barrel instead
>>
>>64237722
MOS slides kinda suck you need to get them milled anyway if you want to cowitness irons
I like the FLX a lot though
>>
>>64237740
Idk its your money at that point dawg.
I just don't care about glawks the same way a Toyota doesn't turn my head...
>>
>>64237747
>you have to get it milled to cowitness
No, you don’t, lol. You just get taller sights.
>>
>>64237747
I think I'd try for taller sights but I'm not too concerned with a cowitness
>>
>>64237755
>>64237756
idk about glock 19 but there are definitely glock MOS slide and dot combos where you literally can not buy irons tall enough to cowitness

I've noticed that the H9 is being shilled quite a bit on social lately. Why? I looked around and there's deals setting the floor to ~$850?
Is that it? Does it still FTF/FTE/Keyhole? Does it even matter when it doesn't shoot as smooth as a 19/2011 or as reliable as a g19?
>>
>>64237442
>More reliable
Proven "doubtful" many times by independent tests
>better aftermarket
So you pay $500+ for a glock and then another $200+ to make it a springfield hellcat? Lul

>>64237503
>sweat shield kydex holsters are the only holsters
>>
>>64237847
I accept your concession
>>
>>64237838
It’s just being hyped because it’s uncommon and discontinued, they’re shit guns and can’t even be dry fired without damaging the gun, Burt has one, he could tell you more, but I remember something about a rollpin eating into the striker channel, among several other issues.
>>
>>64237722
Looks like a shitty deal. Why are you incapable of using the internet?
>>
>>64237866
find me a better deal on a glock 19 mos please

Could also possibly be 7.65 Luger; Beretta made some 92s in that too.
>>
Time to drive home and check LGS :D
>>
>>64237137
This and the fact that it won't jam if you're draw is shite. Considering that we're most likely going to be reacting to a situation, this is a huge asset.
>>
>>64237722
Nah, anon. Get a used gen3 and get it milled. Or just get an rxm because it's red dot ready and has a much better grip.
>>
If glocks are bad why does ben stoeger use one? Check mate retards

I’ve gotten a lot of stuff off of gunbroker… but damn do I hate the “no credit card, check only” boomers…. Motherfucker I just want to buy a 2$ spring… can I just mail you a 5$ and we call it good?
>>
there's a desert eagle in 50ae under the glass at the range I shoot at for $1,800.00. I love shooting pistols and I'm at the range at least once a month, would my love of handguns extend to regularly shooting this or would it become a dust collecting meme in my closet?
>>
>>64239517
That’s like $400 over priced, I bought mine for $1,400 and some anons have acquired theirs for $1,000 or less. They’re just trying to attract an idiot with more money then sense. Also .50AE is like $1.50 a round right now so you’d better reload beforehand.
>>
>>64239539
I've heard of people buying an Eagle for less than what I seen but I can't for the life of me score such a deal. Where the heck are people finding deals like that?

The price of the ammunition does not bother me. I really want a magnum of some fashion and have the budget for a couple boxes of whatever magnum cart I settle on.
