I recently bought a pair of original nunchakus merely for display.
However, if the time comes where I must deal with an intruder, how useful would they be? I'm willing to practice at least 2 hours a day if they're worth it.
Thanks in advance.
>>
>>64236005
The amount of training for them borders on the realm of "no". The odds are you bought the wrong kind that have light wood or hallow, very high.

This website is for 18+, come back when you're older.
>>
>I will bash myself in the head for two hours a day to protect my Nintendo switch from imaginary feral niggers instead of working the extra two hours and using the overtime to move somewhere that isn't a shithole

It's funny how people here wanna larp about shit that won't happen when they don't even have a fire extinguisher or first aid kit in their house.
>>
>>64236017
>>64236110
why are you faggots umpromptedly assuming anything?
I live with my family in a nice city, I was just curious on how effective would nunchakus really be if you put in the necessary work.
>>
>>64236128
if someone puts their arm in the way you can't swing their head around to knock them out and stop them

that's also knife range, go back to your age restricted zones kid
>>
>>64236005
>how useful would they be?
If you install a camera in your home they will be very useful, providing a very comedic video of you getting killed by a intruder with a gun as you austically try to defend yourself with nunchucks.
So I say go for it, buddy.
>>
>>64236005
Not very useful, get a sword about the length of a Roman Gladius instead. Or if you live in a spacious house, get a claymore instead and see if there's a HEMA training club around so you can learn how to use it.
>>
>>64236172
Someone post a few videos of how fast a knife changes a fight. Get the kid out of here and puking into his mothers toilet bowl.

>>
>>64236005
practice using it like a flail rather than as nunchaku. it'll be way easier and as effective against your average intruder.
>>
>>64236005
They require consistent training and are inferior to other flexible weapons in terms of range and technique, but are still better than nothing if you've practiced enough to not hit yourself. .

Thanks for the bump queerboy.

>>64236005
Not useful in narrow spaces imo, you're better off using a hammer assuming you can't use a gun for home defence. Plus you dont have much energy generated although it will hurt a lot
>>64236110
If you are hitting yourself in the head with nunchucks you have 0 motor skills and coordination
>>
>>64236005
get rid of the chain, connect with rope, much quieter. Very dangerous, very effective. Don't waste your time watching retarded vids waiving them all over, use one hand ed and take advantage of the whipping action to generate very high speed to strike the head/face, throat, back knees with the free end. That is why they are outlawed in so many places.
>>
>>64237550
>Not useful in narrow spaces imo
very useful in narrow spaces, you can generate great energy whipping the free end into someone's face.
>>
>>64237862
Did you know that the speed at which you can accelerate an object on a chain is ALWAYS slower than the speed you can swing your arm at?
The only caveat is the possibility of multiple rotations storing energy, but even then they can only go so fast as the energy you're able to impart minus the coefficient of friction times times the velocity.

TL;DR a stick of similar length hits harder than a nun-chuk, 100% of the time
>>
don't listen to these fools watch proper instruction video

>>
>>64237879
>object on a chain is ALWAYS slower than the speed you can swing your arm at
you my fren are actually retarded. Take stick six feet long, take a whip six feet long, the speed of end of the whip when whipped if many times faster than the speed at the end of the stock when swung. Then of the whip makes the cracking sound because the velocity exceeds the speed of sound and breaks the sound barrier. The reason the nunchucks are split is to make easy to fold and carry and to be able whip the free end to generate exceptional energy at close distances. all that fancy swinging and dancing is the "art" which is useless.

Blunt weapons suck at stopping an alert attacker that wants you to take a dirt nap. Get a sword.
>>
>>64237879
wow this is literally the dumbest post I've ever seen on /k/ and it's not even close. 40IQ detected.
>>
>>64237922
Whips work like that because relative to the handle the tip has to travel an extremely long distance following the sine wave along it's length when properly flung which is what imparts so much velocity. The tip of the whip also has almost no mass which means that while it makes a lound noise and can inflict pain and superficial wounds it's fucking worthless for combat. The stick meanwhile doesn't have as much velocity because it's straight angular momentum, however it has a shitload more mass and still has a higher velocity at the tip relative to the handle. Big sticks have been used since humans figured out they could do things besides throw rocks.
>>64238714
You dropped your crown king.
>>64236005
It's a modified rice flail used by peasants who weren't allowed to own swords. It's not some magical ancient weapon that stuck around because it's effective, it's hollywood and a few extremely specialized martial artists. If you want to train with them practice shoving them up your ass because that's what's going to happen if you actually try and use them. Get a "historic" warclub if you can't own real weapons, there's a reason a stick with a heavy end pops up everywhere in human history and nunchuks and other "ninja" weapons only appear during the Sengoku period and Tokugawa shogunate in Japan.
>>
When will the misconception that nunchucks, a kung fu weapon, are associated with ninjas be cleared up?

>>
>>64238952
If half your body is covered in a bony carapace it makes a lot more sense as a weapon.
>>
>>64238936
>>64237922
Also forgot to mention that if you have a nun-chuk that is split directly down the middle, whatever you would be hitting would be hit with half of the mass of a stick of equal total length.
So not only is the tip of the nun-chuk moving slower than the tip of the stick, but it is hitting with less mass than the stick.
Stick wins, flawless victory.

A sword would've been equally as useless in the hands of a pasty antifa numale who's never been in a fight. It's not the weapons' fault that the owner has a skill issue.
>>
>>64239026
>pfft you didn't mention tactical considerations therefore all your completely valid and true points about how the laws of reality make it inferior are invalid
Here's a few reasons, it's more difficult to use and requires vastly more training, it's derived from a peasant tool and only existed because it was easy to hide in plain sight, the only benefit the chain offers is the ability to block a sword blow, and it requires being much closer to your opponent than a solid club of similar mass. There. There's your tactical arguments you fucking pendantic retard.

Imagine grabbing that bat when it's a sword. Swords can't be grabbed without fucking your hands up. Swords are a superior melee weapon, compared to bats.

Nunchakus are a fucking meme.
You'd be better off just grabbing a focking stick off the ground, 'cause the stick at least transfers the force properly, unlike nunchakus which transfer only part of the force to the attacker and the rest back at you.
Just get a baton, or a long knife. And if you live in normal country just get a gun, it's miles better than anything else.

If you insist on having some Bruce Lee wushu shaolin shadow dungeon moves to pull on a potential home invader, get a staff. Or quarterstaff. Does everything nunchaku do but better. It'll also keep any knife wielding knaves out of stabbing range. You'll probably just get shot tho. Used handguns usually go for just under $250 in my area so save a check and you should be able to afford one, even working a wage-cuck job.

You get a bit of a punchy snap but realistically, it's a bad flail. Training might get you in shape but it's useless and stupid.
You can beat a faggot to death with anything, just there are better things. I suggest attaching a weight to wire then making a handle.
You'll be so fucked in court.
On the other hand for yard work they are good for grabbing bundles of sticks, not making a joke even when it's funny.

Except for swords (the first pure weapon in history), spears (evolutions of hunting tools), warclubs (bashing shit with a stick is very effective to make it stop moving). Even neolithic cultures independently developed variations on at least one, usually the warclub because shaping and fire hardening wood is one of the oldest skills humanity learned. Mahiucatl were a warclub/sword hybrid. Atl-atl and throwing spears or dedicated heavy spears can be found in the history of every human group to have existed.

You know what was found in one very specific geographic region for one very short and specific period of time? That's right, modified rice flails derived from farm workers tools. Stop being a faggot.
>>
>>64241919

Evolved from machetes used by peasants.

You think peasants never used hunting tools?

Nunchucks may be bullshit, but weaponized flails were quite common everywhere and shouldn't be lumped in with them.

>>
>>64239116
Blunt weapons can incapacitate an opponent faster with less likelihood of killing them.
>>
>>64253310
Blackjacks, saps and other weapons like that are different than a club for 2 reasons. First they have a heavy dense weight at the top, and second they have a spring in the handle which crates a whip like motion in the head. That whip combined with the weight exponentially increase their effectiveness. Hit someone in the arm with a stick it would cause damage but might not break a bone, hit them with a blackjack with the same force and it will most likely break bone.
>>
>>64253316
They are ineffective, except against unaware people being struck from behind. Just punch them, or do a choke.

>>64253337
>can
Keyword. Blades are often better.
>>
>>64253345
It's not a whip. Whips work by having a completely flexible body that starts thick and narrows towards the tip. This makes waves at the thick end speed up as they reach the tip. The spring or flex in a blackjack is so you don't feel the impact in your hand as much. Try hitting a wall with a bat and your hands will hate you for it. Ultimately the spring weakens the blow compared to a ridged club of equal weighting.

as long as you can bring the mothafuckin ruckus it should be alright
