We finally get some more accurate info on the new Metal Box. Basically a modern replacement for MTLB/M113 boxes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=u-CyvSDfLTU
https://www.patriagroup.com/products-and-services/protected-mobility/patria-trackx

Space for 2 crew +10 men, all modern amenities like heating for winters and AC for summers, STANAG L1 protection level, max speed 80 km/h, amphibious with 4km/h swimming speed, wide tracks for wetland, muddy and winter conditions, modern optics and electronics, and upgradable with modular setups (mortar/HMG turrets/fire-control/command & comms packages etc).

Weights 12 tons empty, has payload of 3,5 tons. Designed to be cheap, reliable and easy to use with future-proofing in mind. And, from what I heard, actually decently comfortable. Plenty of room inside.

It's... it's a box. Seems like they didn't try to reinvent the wheel, just took what already works and upgraded it to the modern world. Looks alright, I guess.

That looks suspiciously like an MT-LB.

That's exactly what they say it's supposed to be. Right on the company's own web-site. Take MTLB, but fix all the known issues and bring it to the modern tech range, and job's a gooden. It does certainly show it's genetics a bit.

Which is not a bad thing. With the phase-out of M113's, and since the MTLB's have essentially gone extinct in this Ukrainian war, I think there might be some international demand for cheap, reliable replacement.
If they play their cards right, it could become a cash-cow.

>MT-LB if he built by Mongolians with white people sensibilities

Wow Finns in charge of marketing again, we couldn't sell water in the Sahara.
I liked it much better when it was called FAMOUS but maybe that was too French a naming convention
>>
>>64240547
Finns doing to the MT-LB what they did to the AK with the RK-62 and 95
>>
>>64240564
Hey Finland would you like to tell us about your product?
>Yeah
...
So is it a new apc?
>Yeah
...

Whole country is a lil extra desu.
>>
>>64240564
Should have called it Trackxxx.

Why did they go with a hinged door instead of a ramp?
>>
>>64240735
Fuck if I know. Mechanical simplicity? Less to go wrong?
>>
>>64240735
they dont use tacticool mobility scooters
>>
>>64240735
Hinged door is probably faster to open and close. IIRC ramps are mostly used where the door is heavy enough that you need hydraulic assistance.

Yeah, this might be the case. It's a battlefield taxi, rated for AK's and infantry mines. It's not a bradley rated for much more serious damage.

So having just a hatch door would do the trick and keep the costs down and production queues simple.
>>
>>64240855
Yeah, and you need to keep stuff light when your main purpose is to low ground pressure to travel over slushy snow and marhland
>>
big fan, can't lie

>>64240726
Save some for the sequel.
>>
>>64240844
Ramps also mean you don't have to worry about a height gap.
>>
>>64240735
>faster to open
>lower profile
>easier to manufacture
Ramps are not the best.

Only ball ammo, not AP mind you, Level 2 is proof against 7.62x39 API. Level 1 is mostly about protection against artillery (at a distance) and someone plinking at you at range, trying to get lucky, not any actual combat.

One notable thing for this new vehicle is its maximum speed, which is notably high for this sort of tracked vehicle - it did up to 88 km/hour during a test drive.

No it looks like an MTLB with some Bv 206/Nasu DNA
>>
>>64240356
Should've used literally anything else for the turret in the photoshoots.
>>
>>64240735
It isn't British aircraft carrier. It doesn't need a fucking ramp.
>>
>>64243141
We should have stuck one of the Army MG3s on there for show
>>
Looks like the tankie take on social media on these drones is to claim they were Ukrainian drones launched from Ukraine but jinked through Belarus into Poland.

Wrong thread

It's strange that we were the first ones to come up with a modern mtlb.
>>
Know what you need? Aero MTLB.

They're using what 95% of the potential users will outfit it with.
