Something I rarely see discussed anywhere. What type and brand of rifle case do you prefer?Soft? Hard?Traditional look or something that looks more military?
>>64244981Savior soft cases because I'm 2poor4pelican
>>64244998Get some of those knockoff pelican cases that wallyworld sells. They still hold up bretty good.
>>64244981>TDU khaki nylon guitar-shaped bag with MOLLE webbing and a monochrome US flag patchWho are you trying to fool?
>>64244981Hard case to protect everything from losing zero/dog sitting on it and bending shit.
Hard cases absolutely fuck, but require storage. Its nice to be able to throw unused soft cases in a bin. Classic rifle = classic canvas case
>>64245009>>64244998Plano was the brand I was thinking of
Both.Hard for transport, soft for field use.
>>64244998Their soft case looks nice. Could replace a case and range bag for most uses
>>64245037Harbor Freight Apache cases are decent options for their price point. I find plano to be kind of thin.
>>64244981>rifle casebass guitar case. Soft but sturdy fabric, designed for heavy bass guitar, pockets, inconspicuous, carrying handle and shoulder straps to wear like a backpack.
It all comes down to what your purpose is. For going to range or out on hunting trips I use soft cases. If you're taking an airline flight with your guns? Then you need something more serious since the baggage kickers aren't known for being careful.>>64245009>>64244998Another option is Vault, they are made by Pelican but they are less expensive than their top tier stuff.>>64245036I have a number of fine older guns that came with fancy oak-and-leather cases. These look awesome, but they are terrible for practical use. They are heavy as hell, have hard sharp corners, and honestly a modern plastic case with fitted foam offers better protection.
are there cases that carry three titles?
>>64244998Same, but honestly I think I prefer them now since I live in a small city and they don't stick out as gun cases.>I run pic relatedI use the smallest one when loading up my shotguns for trap. I takedown the gun and its a perfect fit.
What do you guys use for taking ammo to your range?>The humble Ammo Can?>The repurposed tackle box?>The little boxes of ammo still inside the walmart bag?Honestly I use cheap plano boxes but I wanna know if you guys found a better way.
>>64246413Depends on the round but usually pre-loaded in the mags. I have a lot of mags
>>64245090Do you have one?
>>64246413Those cheap plano boxes just werk. Until one of the latches breaks, but they're so cheap it's almost inconsequential. But >>64246446 has the right idea, pre-loaded mags that you can throw in whatever satchel/container you've got laying around.
>>64244981Soft for range and normal use. Hard is trash unless you fly then it's needed.
>>64246413Usually just an ammo can, but once or twice I've used a fabric tool bag. Anything that holds the weight will work, no need to be picky.
hard condition one from amazon like 50 bucks and fits a 20 inch AR with carrying handle just fine. might have to upgrade if I get a scope. I just like hard case because its a bumpy gravel road to get to where I typically shoot and helps protect it
>>64246413loaded in mags or in the box i bought it in
>>64245060Unless you’re transporting a single rifle to the range, these are shit, way too big and bulky and basically a duffle bag with some velcro straps floating around somewhere in it.
>>64245090Ditto Apache.>>64246503Nta, I have 2. I will be getting a third.
>>64245975>three titles3 titles is asking alot, bro.
>>64246794>Hard is trashSaid a man with no pickup.
>>64244981I have yet to find the perfect one and have kinda resigned myself to hacking something together myself once I have some free time this winter. My main use for a case is to keep my rifle and a bunch of stuff and ammo organized to hike innawoods to shooting spots with. Right now like >>64244998 I'm using a Savior, which is long enough to hold my rifle without needing to remove the suppressor, offers decent protection and wasn't ludicrously expensive. But the backpack aspect is only sorta-ok, simply shoulder straps and that's it.What I'd really like would be some proper backpack frame with a quality belt and so on so that I could have gun and everything plus some other basic supplies and actually carry 40lbs or so in reasonable comfort for a few miles like I can with my normal pack and have the rifle protected from the elements. It feels like this is something that must exist somewhere but I don't know of it. So I'm probably going to hybridize some soft case with a decent heavier duty backpack+frame, I've been playing around with a few options and doesn't seem like anything serious challenges it'll just take a weekend. If I ever had to fly a rifle somewhere I'd certainly want a hardcase but never have yet, and honestly I'd be nervous to do so. There must be secure ways to do so, top tier F-class folks and the like travel around country/world to compete with extremely fancy guns, but I have zero idea what goes into that.
>>64247185Yeah, I usually bring some sort of rimfire rifle everytime
>>64244981I use Skinner soft cases for all of them. They just werk.
>>64244998>>64245009Got a blemish Plano from Midway 10 years ago. Haven't abused it but it has held up well, especially for the price.
>>642464137.62x39 for my sks I just throw into the pockets of one of those cheap chinese bandoleers (on stripper clips of course)Anything else I just use the ol' cardboard box it came in inside a ziplock bag
>>64248119>Skinner soft casesI just had a peek and they make exactly what I want. A small, flat, zipperless takedown bag. Thanks for the name drop anon, I just want gun stuff that doesn't look like gun stuff.
>>64244981I use an AIM 45 for almost everything I have, is big but I bougth it mainly to move around HFT competitions with my air rifle which is pretty big without it ending caked in dirt, is quite water resistant and easy to clean and the locks and zippers can take a beating, after a miriad of cheap amazon bags Is worth it to spend some money on something more quality specially if you are going to drag it around fields. And for travel around a morini hard case or some of the smaller hard cases I have been collecting with every long gun I buy.
>>64244981>What type and brand of rifle case do you prefer?I don;t like them much and you should never store a gun in wood unles sits a decent wood and wool felt gun case. At most they are for moving a gun from A to Be and getting ot out of that as soon as you can. The only soft gun slips worth using are fleece wool lined. I've seen more damage to guns from shitty foam lined plastic cases than I wanted to. People put them back in with sweat on them from ranges and then it gets in the foam. I've even seen nice old guns with foam insert crap stuck all over them from beig left in them. Leave you're guns in a safe, behind glass or in a dust free room not in gun cases. As a tool the artikis drag bags and shit like : ebersstock rucks with gun slips are fine but how many times to you need to crawl a KM with your toes or do a three day insert.
>>64249692>I don;t like them much and you should never store a gun in one unles sits a decent wood and wool felt gun casetypo fixed
>>64244981Tennis racquet bag from Academy
>>64249817Based.
is there a case that carries three rifles
>>64247787If you are willing to pay for premium then eberlestock has a lot of bags that work with their rifle scabbard
I have Plano, Vault, Flambeau, Berghaus bag, and the free ones RIAC gives out from auctions. Plano and Flambeau seems similar. Vault is really nice but heavy. I like the fabric bags from RIAC and there's no foam. Berghaus is nice but lots of complicated straps everywhere. Still haven't found great bags for older long guns. Everything is kept in gun socks.
What duffel bag would fit an AR-15?
>>64246413This thing. Maybe some extra ammo cans if its gonna be an all day shoot.
condor double rifle bag for dragging my AK and AR into the woods
>>64251401Huh, thanks anon I'll have to check that out. Do you know how long they go? OAL on my current bolt is 43.5", it's not giganormous but it's not remotely compact either and a lot of bags seem designed for really short stuff. Though I guess since I'm planning on doing something significantly shorter down the road I'll look anyway, and I guess I could also look at QD options rather than direct thread. At any rate though thanks again, that looks neat.
>>64255821nta but seems like for scabbards they are open ended. so like three foot long but longer gun can just stick out the end and weight balance is fine. if you want full cover for like snow weather they make one with a butt cover. it'll go all the way to like sixty inch so plenty of room
no 3 ?
