anyone got recommendations or bad experiences with cheap/knockoff optics from ebay and amazon?

i'm wondering specifically if anyone's tried any acog clones as i've seen decent reviews for them, though i don't know how much the quality varies between sellers or if they're largely sourced from the same factory

I only bought a couple cheap dots from amazon (under fifty bucks) they all drifted after a few hundred rounds

just get a sig or vortex dot if you're going cheap

i know those are better options, but my primary goal is just for the gun to look cool (which for me is like a modified A4)
all i need is for the sight to have bare functionality, i'm not expecting to put it through extreme use

They don't even go through light use, and many don't function properly at all as sights in any circumstances (ie do not hold zero at all even shot to shot, don't adjust properly etc). Every cent you spend on them is effectively 100% wasted. You will probably save more money just on initial zero by buying a real one than an airsoft scope.

even airshit knockoffs fall apart after a few rounds. id just buy a secondhand genuine optic, that way you arent out 200 dollars on top of 800 buks for a real optic
>>
shitty prism scopes work ok but for a few more bucks you can get a primary arms microprism that is proven quality.

i haven't been able to find any reviews for them where they fail to work, except a few written reviews with no evidence
there's even been a couple videos where people bang the shit out of them more than what any sight would reasonably encounter and still function fine
but i still wanted to see if anyone here has any actual experience with them failing

if they do in fact reliably suck i'll probably just get a cheap sig with magnifier, because there's no way i'm spending the same price of the rifle just for an optic

>bad experiences with cheap/knockoff optics
inexpensive versions did not have auto on or auto off, shot battery life, sometimes drifted. I ended up replacing them with much better versions which in the end I paid for the cheap one and the better one and waste time on the cheap ones, so just get the good ones and save time and money.

Use a detachable carry handle until you can afford an ACOG

that goes against "the vision" i had in mind
i did originally want a cut down carry handle sight like pic rel, but the one i got was absolute dogshit quality so i just went with the next best thing which looks like the commando rifle from black ops, which satiated my needs and i'm happy with it so far

and i can afford a real acog, i'm just not ever going to accept paying more than 30% the gross cost of the rifle for a single part (unless it's thermals or something)

also carry handles are fucking absurdly expensive for some reason, especially for a stop gap part
i can and still will use the cheap irons i got currently even after i get an optic, whereas the carry handle would be rendered useless

>ACOG clones
Yes I have!
No, never would I put this on a real firearm except maaaaybe a .22lr. I bought the clone ACOG for airsoft, and for that purpose it works alright. Clarity, light, and glass quality is all much lower than a real ACOG (obviously). The reticle is TA01 style despite the TA31 style body. It zeroes and stays zeroed although the turret adjustment are a little mushy. So, for airsoft it's fine but I have absolutely no confidence it would stand up to repeated recoil from a real rifle. For a bidget optic, there are sub $100 red dots that are trustworthy and I'd do those rather than trying to cheap out on magnified.

Fake ACOG on top, real ACOG on bottom.
>>
just double your budget over the knockoffs and get something like vortex or sig. I see both around 100-200 and they wont become useless after 500 rounds
>>
>>64255466
Or, and I know this is relatively "expensive" a PA SLX. The 3x versions MSRP for less than $400. I've looked through them and they seem like a decent poor man's ACOG.

thanks for your input
would you happen to remember the exact link or site you got it from?
i really don't care if the quality is worse than a real one, i certainly am not expecting that
if it at least works for airsoft then i can just bash test it myself to see if the zero holds and just return it if not

and like i said already, i really don't care for any other sights unless they look like an acog
