What would be most useful in a firefight?
>10 guys with $100 single-barrel shotguns
>5 guys with $200 double-barrel shotguns
>2 guys with $500 pump-action shotguns
>1 guy with a $1000 automatic shotgun
>>
10 guys obviously, maneuvering is key and you can reload single shots fast
>>
>>64254066
Would volley fire work?
>>
>>64254066
They can fire in disciplined sequences and providing constant buddy fire. Reloading quick is a call of duty perk.
>>
>>64254067
like with slugs? hearing big thwumps of 1 oz lead slugs come down all around your location would suppress you but it would be more effective to just close with the enemy to use shotguns closer. Maybe 3 guys long ranging with slugs and the other 7 guys flanking with buckshot
>>
>>64254052
10 guys out flank the rest.
>>
>>64254083
What about against one guy with a $10,000 O/U who lives and breathes clay pigeons?
>>
>>64254526
Can't see behind himself.
>>
>>64254526
Too fat, too fuddy to realize he's in range
>>
>>64254052
Definitely 10 guys with singles because they can keep a constant and steady volume of fire, even if one or two of them get taken out.
The two guys with pumps or one guy with a semi have an initial firepower advantage but then they're screwed once they have to pause and reload, especially if they're outnumbered.

Alright, listen up you tacti-cool LARPers. In a real firefight, it ain't about how much tacticool gear you flex — it's about force projection, coordination, and sustained fire. So let’s break this down like we’re not playing Call of Duty in mommy’s basement. 10 dudes with $100 break-action shotguns? That’s a damn firing squad for like one volley, then everyone’s stuck reloading like boomers at the range. 5 guys with double-barrels? Congrats, you now have TWO shots before you're also reloading and praying no one rushes you. Now, 2 guys with pump-actions — finally, we’re talkin’ actual combat capability. More rounds, faster reloads, actual control. But 1 guy with a $1000 automatic shotgun? That dude’s a walking war crime — assuming it’s something like an AA-12 or Saiga-12 full-auto, he’s dumping 10–20 rounds in seconds. BUT, and here's the kicker, he's alone. One-man armies are only cool in movies and schizophrenia. TL;DR: 2 pump-action bros are the sweet spot — balance of firepower, reload speed, and not being cannon fodder. Everything else is either mall ninja cosplay or suicide by tacticool.

10 guys have ten times as many hit points ans action points, no contest.
>>

Cool analysis. However 10 guys with 1 shot would ideally not ''volley''-fire, nor fire at the same time.
You'd spread out, or work in pairs.
2 guys with pump action shotguns are still just 2 guys. Let's say for arguments sake there is enough ammuntion for both teams to go around.
Pump action bros have to hit 10 dudes spot on, and it ideally has to be a kill shot because they're tracking 10 targets at once, leaving one half-alive crawling away isn't ideal.
The 10 single shot dudes only have to hit 2 targets, and if one dies, but he only causes a wounding shot it wouldn't matter much because now one bro has a non-functioning limb. Not ideal for a when there's a 9 dude swarm still alive. Hell they probably wouldn't even need the shotguns if it was somewhere semi-indoors.
OP should really specify a location, this matters especially with shotguns.

Absolutely.
A 12ga slug is basically the same thing as a Minie ball out of an old musket. A Brown Bess or a Charleville has a similar diameter, weight, and velocity as a slug. The difference is that even a single-shot reloads much faster than an old musket.

>>64255072
Agreed, you wouldn't want them all firing at once since then they all have to reload at once and that leaves an opportunity the enemy could exploit.

1/2 a guy with an automatic rifle

I have a 100 dollar single shot just like that
>>
>>64254052
1 guy with a ten-barrel shotgun
>>
>>64254052
Imo even through the 5 guys with double barrel can shoot in quick succession the 10 guys are going to be harder to keep up with
>>
What are they wearing?
Is it an open field?
>>
The guy with the auto shotty will lose if he makes 1 mistake. 10 guys would have to fuck up really badly multiple times.
>>
>10 guys with $100 single-barrel shotguns

2 groups of 5 use fire and manuever to mog the threat.

Don't think a single barrel can be an acceptable fighting gun? Behold this:

nice shotgun
>>
>>64254906
two guys are not taking ten men ready to fight and die. 10 men with knives and the will to kill or die would win against two men with pump actions
>>
>>64254906
Thanks ChatGPT
>>
>>64254052
Ten guys obviously. Thats 10 shots from 10 angles at one guy. Five each coming in at two men. Two shots per man coming in at 5 guys. All at once. The odds are always in favor of numbers.

>>Agreed, you wouldn't want them all firing at once
If your objective is to win you would.
